Just ordered a Photon... any immediate mods I should consider? This is my first resin printer, have two FDM currently (TronXY X5SA & Tevo Tornado), and two in the past (Monoprice Maker Select & Mini Fabrikator)

I worked on a game called Injustice 2 and this is one of the characters I got to create. I might make the whole figure, just gotta take the time to make it.
Elegoo gray
0.05 mm layer height/12 seconds
8 bottom layers/90 secs
Base is FDM

Was having an impossible time printing these buttons on my FDM printers. Bought a Photon: almost instant success and now they can be beautifully backlit if I print in a translucent resin. Sweet!

Edit: Buttons printed at 20 microns in AnyCubic black and green. They look like production molded parts, I still can't believe it.

(edited post for clarity sounded like a rambling mess.)

When printing models that have flat edges like bases for minis I am getting this weird ripple. On an fdm printer I would trouble shoot a z banding issue. This does not happen on prints that do not have a flat edge. I have tested with a number of different stl files. recreated the photon file all with the same result.

is this a sign that I need to replace my fep, is this over exposed? im kind of lost I am running another flat piece reducing my exposure time and have new fep on the way.

monocure white mixed with 3 drops each green and yellow monocure pigment
resin is warmed and shaken like a Polaroid picture

layer thickness .04
normal exposure 13
time off 1
bottom exposure 65
bottom layer 15

So how do these prints do if they are say left in a car on a hot summer day? Prints for my fdm printer melt, or at least droop, but what about these ones? How well does the resin hold up on heat

Yo. Kind of in trouble town. I have a very levelled bed (real good at that from FDM stuff) and i'm having trouble getting my 90% monocure rapid grey 10% Monocure flex 100 resin mix to stick. Can anyone share screenshots of their Chitubox settings for that or similar?

Just got my Photon yesterday. Love it. It took me a three tries to get the bed gap set correctly. I am used to measuring on FDM printers, where you want a slight drag on the paper. The photon needed a good amount of friction. After that it’s been flawless.

So, my question is, what does everyone print? I have the Eiffel Tower queued up and some lattice designs. Just want to print some small high detail things that don’t require supports.

Thanks in advance!

WTF? Last nights print is very stepped. It was sliced in ChiTuBox v1.3.0 using the in built Photon Settings 10 secs per layer 3 bottom layers at 40 secs. New bottle of AnyCubic Green (UK) and a new FEP. Yet the model is layer stepped like an FDM printer. The detail is great, just very serrated. Any suggestions from the experts?

Hello all! I am currently considering buying a photon, but I have a few questions I'd like to ask before leaping into something I don't know much about.

Firstly, I keep hearing a lot about the smell of the resin and how toxic the fumes are, but just how bad is it? I have limited places to put it so it would be fairly close to my office and sleeping space and was wondering if this would be a bad idea?

Secondly, just how expensive is each print? I know that largely depends on the resin, but I have worked with a FDM printer previously and its hard to understand how long a bottle of resin will last when I am used to printing in meters of material.

Thanks in advance!

It turned out OK, but there are a lot of layer lines, quite like an FDM printer. But not displeasing. I’d love to know how to keep the green transparent, or at least glossy. It does go full after a while ? but for this model I am happy, project closed
