What is this crust on my LCD? There are no dead pixels and prints have been fine. Could it be from a leak in the FEP? It does not come off when I scrape it with my fingernail.

What happened here? I’m reasonably certain it’s not a support issue because some of the models that failed are support-less, and the others I inspected beforehand and was happy with. The resin is 75% Monocure Rapid Clear / 25% Monocure Flex. Print settings were 12s layer time at 0.04, which I’ve had success with in the past. Plenty of bottom layers (12 or 13 I think) with ~ 80s bottom layer cure times.

I can’t really think of what could have caused every model here to fail so catastrophically. The only thing I can think of is that I haven’t used the resin in a while so maybe it’s gone bad. The settings should be solid, because I got them from the google doc, but tell me if they’re wrong.

I would really like to use the Photon File Validator more often, but when I load up a build plate full of minis, the file size typically gets too large for the Validator to load it. I get an infinite loading screen. I unfortunately don't have time to slice each model individually to validate it. Has anyone else experienced this file size issue with the validator, and if so is there a fix for it?

Has anyone tried the Esun high precision resin for printing minis? I'm generally happy with my Elegoo grey but now I'm looking for something that can provide slightly better detail. I've also heard good things about Siraya Blue mixed with Esun resin. Opinions are appreciated.

Is there a way to fix this? The screen is a week old replacement from Anycubic sent to replace my screen that died. It got stuck to the FEP and tore off from the connection. Also, if I need to replace the entire screen again how can I prevent this from happening again?

I think it’s finally time to change my LDC screen. For about a week, I’ve been running the screen test after every print and it’s been giving me weird results. But if I turn the printer off and back on, the test is normal and then I get a successful print. Except the past two attempts, which produced the same failure on two different Photon files.

Should I go ahead and order a new screen or is there something else this could be? If I do need to order a new screen, where do you all recommend ordering from, and is there anything else I should order, like a screen protector?

Pics of the tests, failure, and what it was supposed to look like are attached below.

After about a year of printing, I’ve finally started to notice some layer shifts in my larger, hollowed, prints. It’s not a huge deal but it’s fairly noticeable. Sometimes I overfill the resin vat, so I’ve disassembled and cleaned the build plate with IPA. Once it dries, I’ll re-level and try another print, but if that doesn’t work, what should my next step be? Thicker walls? Buy the Z-axis upgrade?

Edit: There are vent holes on the bottom of the model, on the surface that touches the build plate. Is this adequate or should I have had vents elsewhere?

I know this sort of thing has been posted before, but I was already printing three of the same mini so I thought I would experiment and share my results. I tried 4 different methods of cleaning the prints (from left to right). Mini 1: IPA 99% only, Mini 2: Mr. Clean then IPA, Mini 3: Mr. Clean then hot water, Mini 4 (ground mite): Mr. Clean only. All 4 were left to dry overnight, cured, and then cleaned again with warm water/soap/toothbrush.

I think the results get worse from left to right. I notice when I use the Mr. Clean, it leaves a glossy finish on the minis and they are tacky to touch even after curing (the hot water eliminates most of the tackiness, but the glossiness stays behind). I do not own an ultrasonic cleaner, so I'm not sure if that would produce different results with the Mr. Clean. I think for translucent minis, this glossy finish could be desirable but it's not what I'm looking for with my Elegoo grey minis.

Since doing this experiment, I have stuck with the Mr. Clean then IPA method, because I find that it allows me to replace my IPA less frequently and smells better. What do you all use to clean your minis, and have you experienced and/or found a solution for the Mr. Clean glossiness? Should I buy an ultrasonic cleaner if I want to continue to use Mr. Clean?

I’ve been having some print failures the past couple days. Some of the models look excellent, but others have a strange defect. It seems like certain layers get a half-cured, goopy film. Print 1: https://i.imgur.com/GYIAcxl.jpg I’m using an Anycubic Photon with Elegoo Grey mixed with 25% Monocure Flex. This is my first time using the Elegoo. At first I thought I didn’t shake the Elegoo well enough, but then it happened again after vigorous shaking. Print 2: https://i.imgur.com/pTfRZuK.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dinrgjJ.jpg My next thought was that there was something wrong with my LCD, since it seems to be happening to about half the models. The LCD looks ok to me. Hard to see in the photo, but it lights up the whole square like it always has. https://i.imgur.com/9J0X1ej.jpg The FEP looks good as well. At this point my best guess is that I got a bad bottle of Elegoo. I’m currently running a print with my old combination of Monocure Rapid Clear 75% Flex 25% to see if the problem persists. Please let me know if you have any idea what’s going wrong. 翻譯年糕

I had a weird misprint today. It seems to have severed the finger and reattached it at a different angle... I have no idea what could have caused this.

I’ve been having more misprints lately and there are several things I can think of 1) I might need to replace the FEP screen 2) I switched to Chitubox and I may be bad at using that software 3) I ran out of my first order of Anycubic green and ordered more - it came in a different bottle and has more bubbles when I pour it, but other than that I don’t know why there would be a difference.

My other misprints have been more minor - usually just flat surfaces being slightly warped.

If anyone can tell what’s wrong I’d appreciate it, and I’m always happy to provide more information if necessary.
