This was my second attempt at printing snow whites cottage. On the first attempt only the supports printed. Nothing was in the vat so it looked to me that the cottage was dropped from the print somehow. Second try and this is what I got. Missing walls and an odd block for a support. Also the print actually started to pull from the plate. I did hollow out the print and I think I made the walls to thin or maybe the design is flawed (downloaded from thingiverse). Anyone have any ideas. I did print 3 small coaster cars and they seemed to have printed fine.

What thickness and what exposure??

The Exposure was a 12. The print was hallowed out at the default setting of 1.20 mm. The sliced thickness 0.02. I used the auto supports so I think that might be the issue with the odd solid support.

My third shot at trying to print these little smurf mushroom houses. And success. The first shot was a total failure with just the base for the supports printing before it failed. Readjusted the settings for the resin and thought I was going to have success but prints failed halfway through with just the bottom half of the houses printing before failing. Thought about it for a moment then I thought maybe it was a suction problem because where it failed the print had a solid wall. So I angled the prints 45 degrees and tried again. Went to check on the prints and noticed the plate was crooked. I reset the plate before printing and must not have tightened it enough. Thought the prints would fail. Paused the print and checked the plate. Prints were fine. I thought that it was still going to fail but was already invested. Well this was what happened. Not too bad.

First attempt to print something (anything). Don’t know what they are. This was the only photon file on the usb stick but I am happy at how much detail they have. 2nd print was a failure though but I wasn’t surprised. I had changed the settings and hadn’t cleaned off the plate. I am encouraged that I will get the results that I want. Went to the second setting on the resin list and will give it another go.

Unless u chances the file name from RERF, all 8 should be with different layer time and thereby have different rate of details?? There file is to determine the exposure time for your specific resin.

I got my Photon S the other day and this was the only file there at first too. If you plug the usb stick into a computer the lattice cube file should be in one of the folders if you want to give that a go as well. It just needs to be in the root of the drive and not in a folder to be seen.

Although, if one of those came out as just a flat square like I'm seeing on the photo, I'm pretty sure that's not good. This print tests your resin UV exposure to make sure it's all good for your printer, as required time to cure varies from brand to b rand. You basically pick out the best looking one and adjust the UV exposure by the number on it under the dimple board and above the Anycubic name. There's supposed to be 8 of them.

trying to attempt my first prints today. Not having a any luck so far. Downloaded and unzipped files, opened them in Chitubox and added supports, saved STL file, then opened them in Photon to slice and set resin info. Saved to included (as STL file) USB Drive and went to start to try and print and the STL files, including the the Photon Box file did not show on the screen. I have been looking on the web but can't find a resolution to the problem. The Only thing that shows Up on the Photons screen is something called a RERF file saved as a PHoton File. Can anyone help. I am already getting frustrated. The Machine is version 3.4.1 and I got it about a week ago.

You can't print an STL file, when you slice it with the correct settings for your printer, you will have a different type of file saved by the software

If you have the photon printer then you need to save them from the slicing software to the USB stick as a .photon file. The printer should recognize it then.

Thank you. I saved the Photon file but I must have copied the stl file to the USB. I decided to give up for the day but will try it again tomorrow.

Thank you. I did save the Photon file but I must have coped the STL instead of the Photon to the USB drive. Will give it another try tomorrow.

Just got a Photon printer and it seems to be a the worst time. Due to the Covid virus I could only find 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. Can I use this or should I wait. Is there something else I could use until I can get some?

剛剛得到了一台光子印表機, 似乎是最糟的時刻. 由於covid病毒, 我只能找到70 %異丙醇. 我能用這個嗎, 還是應該等待. 在我能得到一些之前, 我還能用別的東西嗎?

Get some mean green. It cleans more effectively, and is significantly cheaper.

I'm down to using 50% and it seems to be working fine

I have been using denatured alcohol and it works good. In the paint section. Clean burning fuel. I didn't even get a chance to use 90% iso.

Picked up a gallon of simply green at the hardware store today. Seems to do the trick ?

Pour non iodine salt into your 50/70% IPA. Dont worry, you cant pour in too much, more is better. Shake it up good. Undissolved salt sinks, newly created salt water sinks, 99% IPA sits on top. Decant IPA, dry out salt water to use next time.

I've found a few on Ebay 5ltr around £7

Denatured is the way to go. Five minute baths and all the goo is gone. Completely reusable for quite a while also.

Gabe Snooks is there any way to get rid of the iodine component in salt? It's illegal to sell non-iodized salt where I live

Gabe Snooks

Nipuna Gunarathne not sure, but they must have pickling or sea salt available. Table salt must have iodine, the others dont. Here in Canada I cant find non iodine table salt either.
