Hi guys,

I have FDM printers and I think to buy Anycubic Photon. I live in a place where we have 4 seasons and now is winter. I print at the garage and of course Photon will be there. The problem is the temperature. Now it is around 6 degrees. Do you think that he will work good or I need to make some enclosure? Or to find better place?

What's the name of the resin/other material type that people put in with their anycubic resin to increase durability of prints (planning on printing an army of 28mm figurines and wear and tear will be a factor).

Hi guys, nice group you have here. For the past few weeks I have been working on a personal Hero Quest remaster project and as I posted my progress I discovered a very large community of people making and printing custom minis, props and terrain You can see some of the stuff I have been working on here, like the Alien-Licker hybrid I made, a creature that you wouldn't want to meet either in a police station or a space station

Some friends of mine recently got a Photon and have run into a problem I couldn't quite diagnose. Maybe y'all can help.

When the print head is all the way at the bottom, the motor will sometimes skip a bunch of steps and get stuck. This happens almost every time the first layer prints. It's as though it doesn't have enough strength to overcome the suction force on the FEP. (Though, it'll sometimes get stuck even when not printing, so it's not the suction that's the problem.)

Once it gets stuck, it'll just buzz. However, you can get it unstuck by helping to turn the lead screw. Once it comes free, the motor takes over and it moves okay.

I'm told that the problem started after "there was a resin spill", so that's quite likely related.

Here are my theories:
- Damaged stepper motor from resin getting in it
- Damaged stepper driver from resin getting on it
- Bent or mis-aligned lead screw, from being disassembled incorrectly. (Possibly pinching at near the bottom of the rail?)

Before I have them order a new stepper motor and we take the printer apart again, does anyone else have a better theory? I'll be heading back to their house in a few days to take another look at it.
