Did anyone had the chance to compare Prusa SL1 with Anycubic side by side?

OK a high priority for me and my printer is a set of replacement shields for old 28mm soldiers. Is there any way to do this short of a 3D scanner?

Got any pictures of what you are looking to achieve? Something that small you might be able to sculpt or create geometrically in a 3D program closely enough that it is not noticeably different from the original. Depends on the shape and complexity.

Wouldn’t be hard to scale something like this down.

I'm looking for a match to these specific figs.

Niall Forrester
2020-03-18 01:37:00

Lamarr Eddings Looks like it could be sculpted with a bit of time and access to an original to make measurements. My (somewhat uninformed) guess is that the effort to clean up a scan might be as much as creating the thing from scratch, but I could be w rong.

Know anyone who is a whiz at 3D stuff? Or prepared to put in a bit of time to learn to do it yourself (assuming you don't already have those skills)? I am learning Fusion 360, and finding it quite enjoyable just trying to create stuff. These shields are a bit organic, so probably other 3D applications would be more suitable.

How do I go about getting my figure to sit flat on the platform? When I click supports button it automatically lifts the figure up

I replaced my fep a few weeks ago and now can get anything more than this. Very frustrated. Has anyone out there had success with a 0.2mm fep film? I have it tuned to 330hz. There us no protective sheet on it. I am using egloo grey, I have attempted exposures all the way up to 24sec. Any suggestions are welcome.

I got the same issue. Your new fep is too flexible and the rising distance is not enough. 1 increase rising distance like 6mm. 2 if is not sufficient you must substitute the fep and mount it more tight

Dan Seisdedos
2020-03-18 01:05:31

sounds like a good lead. Does the "tuning" come in to play with the flexability?

James Turner
2020-03-18 01:05:35

I had same issue with .2 fep. Went back to .15 and no issues since

Dan Seisdedos
2020-03-18 01:07:23

That is my fall back. I thought I was erring on the side of caution, getting a slightly thicker/durable FEP it is has been a hassle.

Roberto Vasta
2020-03-18 01:07:39

The rising distance is the distance the bed rise after each layer detaching it from the fep. But if the fep is too flexible it don't detach. This is the quick explanation.

Dan Seisdedos
2020-03-18 01:08:59

sounds good, i was thinking that tuning the FEP to a higher frequency may take some of the stretch out, but adjusting the rise will be safer.

James Turner
2020-03-18 01:19:58

Dan Seisdedos I had the same thought..oh well we tried right!

Dan Seisdedos
2020-03-18 01:23:08

James Turner yep, I just wish it had taken less time to come to a conclusion. If i don't get a good print by tomorrow evening, I will order a thinner sheet. Did you go with OEM or third party?

James Turner
2020-03-18 01:25:34

I've used both and found no difference. And there are sellers on amazon that are cheaper than OEM but when you get it,its exact same as OEM package and all

Juaco Amado
2020-03-18 05:19:59

Mount the FEP as tight as possible

Dan Seisdedos
2020-03-18 06:45:22

Juaco Amado do you have a hz in mind?

Dan Seisdedos
2020-03-22 03:18:38

Juaco Amado I replaced the fep without the bottle cap, tuned to 395hz. Got my first successful print and weeks.

Dan Seisdedos
2020-03-22 03:20:13

I had to replace the fep to be able to tune all the way up to 395hz. Finally got it working.

Juaco Amado
2020-03-22 22:29:46

Dan Seisdedos Glad ti hear !! it’s a very sensible part on the printing process and it’s better “over” tight than “under” tight an how much tighter depends on how strong you do it when replacing the FEP

Francois Lozach

Well the thought I have about water washable resin... when you wash you piece on a water container... you got a lot of resin I cured in it... ipa evaporate if you want to cleanup the container... but water not ... or at least not so fast... then chemic als in water washable resin cannot be disposed in regular waste ... so what is the advantage? You cannot rincé your piece under water flow directly going into the sink thus you still need a container and you still need to remove most of the resin before letting evaporate the water...

Ettore Maria Bar
2020-03-18 01:10:19

I formulated my first water washable resin almost 7 years ago. That time my last of 3 sons was a toddler. I was thinking "God, this is a brilliant idea, no need to use alchool, users can wash parts directly into sink!". Then I took a look to him, at the formulation and I decided not to produce that resin.

Jim Nelson
2020-03-18 01:20:18

I use Mr. Clean in an ultrasonic. Works great!

Pete Kastner

Ettore Maria Bar
2020-03-18 01:42:48

Read SDS of water washable resins to find out yourself.

Bob Snyder
2020-03-18 01:50:45

Or just use DNA. Works great.

Mark Wardle
2020-03-18 01:58:07

i would rather not print then use water washable resins. it never cleans you still need to use ipa on them to get them 100% clean. people tend to think water washable = safe. others will wash in there sinks under taps. other people will just throw the dirty water down the sink. not saying you and others in the group will. just saying that peeps will. hate the stuff. hence why the anycubic bio resin is no longer water washable due to the environmental impact that could happen with misuse.

Mack Whillz

You just cure it and strain it. The advantages are obvious. Less odor, less cost, less exposure to flammable compounds.

John Chrapkowski
2020-03-18 13:23:32

the filter doesn’t make it safe to put water down the drain

Olivier Nicolas
2020-03-18 22:08:56

i just clean in a water bath, put it under UV lamps, take my dirty water tanks to the city disposal as contaminated water.

Ryan Cook
2020-03-19 00:35:19

Who is putting anything down a drain? Water evaporates, too.

Rohan O'Rourke
2020-03-19 07:29:00

use methylated spirits. works as good if not better and in my experience is way cheaper than ipa.

Just wanted to share my second print off the Photon Zero from yesterday. I think it looks phenomenal, but I’m no expert, LOL. EDIT: This is where the STL came from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:862724

只是想分享我昨天的光子零上的第二個列印. 我認為它看起來驚人, 但我不是專家, 哈哈.

I just ordered an anycubic photon on Amazon from a flash sale (220 dollars). I was wondering, are the new photon printers that bad? Should I return it and wait for the elgoo Mars pro (I would be getting it for the carbon filter)? Or should I keep this one and modify it with a carbon filter and carry on?

William Tatum
2020-03-18 00:52:54

I have a Photon "original" made after October. So far I have had no issues whatsoever. I know there are some reasons why it's not as good as the O.G, mods and such, but for me as a simple hobbyist it's been a most excellent device. Printed him overnight, didn't have enough resin so I lost the tips of his horns, but that's my fail not the devices.

I don't know if its because I finally tuned things in right, or if its just because I switched models, but I'm FINALLY up and running!

First mini print was technically successful, it stuck to the build plate and went all the way through. Lost an arm and a tail due to bad supports, apparently, but at least it worked!

Re-oriented and re-did supports, crossing fingers for a perfect print this time! I'm at least hearing a nice rhythmic thumping of the FEP, so at least I know its sticking!

I recently changed my screen it was constantly failing as an experiment I increased regular exposure time and it helped a bit so I basically doubled it and now it works. My question is could I somehow have gotten an under powered screen

Would that have gone out at the same time as the screen and if so how hard is that to replace
