Can anyone recommend some good deals for 3D resin at the moment? Preferrably U.K.

Thanks Joe. That's as good a price as I've seen anywhere else.

Hi, you can try NOVA 3D resin.

Sometimes my printer makes some weird noises, as if it was slightly glued to the fep when it's pulling up the build plate. Is it normal?

2020-04-03 03:58:09

Yes.

Mario Hippmann
2020-04-03 03:58:18

yes this is the sound of success, this means the print stick to the buildplate instead of the fep :D

Bruno Shepard
2020-04-03 03:58:57

Thank God, i was really scared that it was going to tear the fep apart and leak resin to the LCD

Bruno Shepard
2020-04-03 03:59:24

Thank God!

Yves Hacault
2020-04-03 04:00:39

That's the sound you know it adhered to the build plate. If you don't hear it in the first few layers, print is most likely not going well.

Lorenz Nijs
2020-04-03 04:31:27

Sometimes it makes a noise that you really think something's gonna break, always mini heart attacks, but then it turns out fine anyways.

Ben Fairbank
2020-04-03 12:07:00

Yup

Andy Murtagh
2020-04-03 15:57:51

Most definitely; this is exactly what you want to hear! I literally wait through my first ten layers or so to make sure I've heard it! Very good indication regarding your levelling. What method did you use in the end?

Bruno Shepard
2020-04-03 16:15:32

Andy Murtagh yours, i think it was you who told me to overcook the first layers

Andy Murtagh
2020-04-03 16:46:43

yes it was, was it the video I sent you that you used to level?

Bruno Shepard
2020-04-03 16:47:47

It did! Very useful! Now i'm learning how to cure the resin. Still a little confuse, i must admit it.

Bruno Shepard
2020-04-03 16:48:09

Btw thanks for the tips! You saved my prints

原文網址 Oksana Shevchenko

It's finished! Not happy with the seam line on the neck though. Is it because the resin is translucent?

I superglued it, then used resin in the cracks (for some reason the neck part of the head was at least 1.5 mm too big) and sanded after spot curing.
Finished off with the clear coat

Well, from a few thousand miles away it looks good to me!!

And yeah, I can’t think of any way to make glue lines disappear. Especially if you’re not planning on painting it. B

Oksana Shevchenko
2020-04-03 06:20:53

Gary Slovinsky thank you!

My friend is super happy with it, so I guess success? Lol

Gary Slovinsky
2020-04-03 06:22:53

Oksana Shevchenko Any print that don’t end up as a blob stuck to your FEP is a good print.

Oksana Shevchenko
2020-04-03 06:23:38

Gary Slovinsky not always. But yes!

Michael Rieser
2020-04-03 06:37:38

I know the advice is late in coming, but I've heard some folks use the liquid resin and their curing station to "glue" pieces together. Dunno whether that would have given you a better result.

Oksana Shevchenko
2020-04-03 06:38:08

Michael Rieser probably not. The pieces didn't fit right

Michael Rieser
2020-04-03 06:39:29

I haven't tried multiple pieces myself, but my wife and I love what you've done. My wife mentioned it reminded her of blown glass.

Ben Knipper
2020-04-03 12:49:57

Oksana Shevchenko , i bought a 405 nm blue laser from amazon and i use the uncured resin as a glue, you can even thin it a bit with alcohol so it “wicks” into the seam between parts applied with a fine paintbrush. Then you mask off the line with tape a nd laser away. It worked so well i have started to build parts this way at work that then get sanded and sprayed with a clear to make clear parts, like last week i intentionally left the bottom out of a bottle so i could sand the inside as well as the outside wall, then lasered the seam and nobody noticed after it was done.

Oksana Shevchenko
2020-04-03 12:50:50

Ben Knipper ooo that sounds like tons of work. Holy crap. How long does it take?

Ben Knipper
2020-04-03 12:56:04

Oksana Shevchenko its work yes, but its not terrible. I dont have any pictures im allowed to show because of NDA’s with clients but i’ll try to make a video of it tomorrow for an example. The lasering part only takes a minute tops. The rest of the s anding and finishing is dependent on the part, I sand clear parts with 80, 150, 220, 320, 400, then switch to wet 600 grit before hitting it with a 2k urethane clear coat. That can take a days worth of work or so it just depends if your piece needs that or not. The pegasus looks great by the way I just wanted to let you know you can get rid of cracks and seams with thinned resin and a small laser, ill find the amazon link and drop it here when i get home.

OK so I changed the photon screen and didn't realise you needed to put the 90* ribbon cable in. Long story short does anyone have the guide to how you can try re-soldering parts. I'm that bored and skint I think I am going to have to fix it rather than just buy a new one.

Hey everyone, I just got a zero and it is churning out awesome prints. But every time I run one when it goes to home position it grinds as if it wants to keep going, despite me setting the z=0 several times. I had this issue upon initial setup as well. It seems to cooperate for one or two prints then try to destroy my screen again. Any thoughts? Anyone run into this?

dont start a print and cancel it while homing
and dont stop homing if u pres home

for some reason it wont home after that and just go down

Josh Berkley
2020-04-03 05:18:12

Mario Hippmann so every time I cancel it doing anything I just reset the z axis zero?

Mario Hippmann
2020-04-03 05:18:55

Josh Berkley no, just restart your printer and u will be good to go

Josh Berkley
2020-04-03 06:05:51

Mario Hippmann awesome thanks for the info!

Niall Forrester
2020-04-03 17:41:47

The home position is set by an optical sensor. You can see it at the back and it has an LED indicator, so might be worth checking it is triggering properly, as it is easy to check and costs nothing.

Niall Forrester
2020-04-03 17:42:44

There is a metal tab that moves with the build plate - the tab triggers the sensor as the build plate moves down into home position

Hello to everyone,

So tomorrow i will be using my Photon for the first time and i am super excited. I am owning 2 Ender 3 so far and i know there a lot of differencies in the usibility. Do you have any tips and tricks for a starter like me ? I donwloaded chitubox for slicing and i also made an air vent outside of the room i will be printing.

Thank you all in advance for your time :)

Anycubic recommends ethanol to clean their resins. Denatured alcohol is mostly ethanol with some methanol added. Some denatured has acetone and few other things in small amounts.

4.2.18 is what you want. Either download it from the Photonsters site, or use the Epax X1 version (recommended).

Vinny Bryant
2020-04-03 03:02:41

What's the dinfrence with the epax x1 version

Sean Latto

Epax X1 I use can't fault it, perfect prints every time

Vinny Bryant
2020-04-03 03:16:01

The epax same printer underneath then?

Vinny Bryant
2020-04-03 03:18:01

I'm looking at the 4.2.23 that the best one for the epax

Oscar H. Montes
2020-04-03 04:11:12

Bob Deblier I’m only seeing 5.0.2 on anycubic a site should this be the one we install?

Darko Miljak
2020-04-03 04:46:23

Depends which photon you have, if it is a classic photon with a Chitu board you can use epax fw

Vinny Bryant
2020-04-03 04:55:07

Yeah mine is the classic photon

Bob Deblier
2020-04-03 11:31:24

Oscar H. Montes negative. 4.2.18, as stated before.
