Question for Mean Green users. I tried it for the first time today, let my prints soak, shook them and brushed them; rinsed and brushed them in warm water, then cured them, but they are still very sticky. I can't tell if this is a side effect from Mean Green or if they aren't cured all the way. I used the same curing process I always have.

I recently printed my first model that was split into multiple pieces. Unfortunately some of them don't fit together. The aligning pins are too big, some of the larger portions are rounded. I'm thinking my exposure settings might be off. Thoughts as to whether this might be an under or over exposure?

I'm using Elegoo grey at 8s

Every printer is a little different and exposure with resolution doesn't say much. If you are at 0.5 that seems reasonable but it would be high for 0.2.

Im at .03 so maybe I’ll back it down to 6s

Hi everyone. i'm having an issue with *every* print lately, where supports join to the print, they dont' seem to attach, so i end up with a build plate full of supports, and everything else stuck to the FEP.

is there anything obviously wrong with my attach settings in chitubox?

Just got a bottle of ipa. Checked Walmart app and said it was in stock. Went there the moment it opened. Lady said she just put it on the shelf so the Walmart app has up to minute stock update. Limit one per customer.

Guys, do you know any good way to bend cured resin? I mean, is that even possible?

If you didn't print with flexible resin your likely sol. You MIGHT be able yo heart out to get a small bend

Erwin Kauwenberg
2020-03-20 20:37:09

Warm/hot water

Lorenzo Di Sante

Bend? If you mean "reshape" try heating the piece

Peter Csaki no what?

Peter Csaki

Cured resin is super rigid and will only get extra super fragile with heat.

Lorenzo Di Sante
2020-03-20 21:24:20

Peter Csaki I have termoshaped some pieces in the past ? it obviously depends by it's thickness, on a thin piece is easy without heating it much

Alexander Bayerdorffer
2020-03-20 21:27:32

You could also buy flexible resin if that's helpful at all

Stuart Johnson
2020-03-20 21:29:40

Yeah...no. resin is gereally not a thermo platic, it crosslinks, and as it crosslinks it gets super hard and brittle. Best bet would be to add a plasticiser to make something a bit bendier, but it would still go back to its original shape.

Yes and it depends on the resin type.

Tom Howley

Peter Csaki, what you provided was a short 2 letter incorrect answer to the original question. It IS possible to bend resin using hot water but results will vary, one of the main factors in determining success is the thickness of the resin. I have had success in bending sheets of Elegoo grey resin up to 5mm thick but only by a few degrees as that was the amount of bend required.

Erwin Kauwenberg
2020-03-20 23:45:44

Peter Csaki yes, I have straitened a barrel of a gun that way. It depends on thickness and shape but it works.

Michael Wayman
2020-03-21 09:26:21

It all depends on the type of resin. I have egloo grey and it reshapes well with some heat. Now on the other hand my green anycubic I have had no luck with.

Tim Parks

I’ve bent prints using hot water. Basically anything can be bent with enough heat, and it’s not like cured resin is THAT brittle. I’ve bent cast iron before with heat and patience, and that is way more brittle then cured resin.

Ok...so this was weird and is fixed...but I'm trying to see if I can figure out what the root cause is in case I should be doing something (different, or at all)

Been happily printing along and came to the end of my bottle of resin. I cleaned out the FEP before adding the new resin (different color resin, same brand).

When I started it up, there was a sound ...not grinding exactly...but something was off. I stopped the print, checked to make sure the plate and pins holding the FEP were secure and restarted. Same thing.

I powered the printer off, as someone mentioned this had solved their problem. No luck.

I then pulled out the plate and the FEP again, cleaned everything...and was wondering if I should relevel...(if only to say yes I did when asking for guidance.)

On a lark, I started a print without the FEP or plate in the device.

Sound is gone.

Put the FEP and plate back in. Printing fine now.

Any thoughts on what was going on?
