Stringtest3 Thanks to Yinka Alade for providing me some pointers on how to set my slicer to eliminate stringing. To test his values I made this test part based on the design for Cactus1 that I published a week ago. The STL file and more info about this part is here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3699949 https://pinshape.com/items/53184-3d-printed-stringtest3 For this print I used Prusa-Slicer with the following settings: Retraction = 5 mm Retraction Speed = 100 mm.sec Nozzle Temperature - 190 First Layer Temperature = 210 Wipe Enabled I only print PLA so I have no idea what settings would work for other materials. But this test prints in only 7 minutes so it would be easy to use it to check the settings for other filament types. 翻譯年糕

Nice! I still haven't tested that print but that came out well

3 Slicer String Test Results

From left to right: PrusaSlicer, Craftware, Kisslicer

All set with Prime/Retract = 3 mm, Prime/Retract speed = 20 mm/sec

So you're liking the PrusaSlicer for the Atom?

Does Slic3r have custom supports yet?

your settings on KISS are really off. I could print that with no strings at the fastest speed.

Soooo bright!

This LED light is so bright I almost need sunglasses to look at it. But it works really well and will make it lots easier to check the quality of the critical first layer.

Thanks to John Wachowski for identifying the parts needed to complete this upgrade:

I printed the Thingiverse adapter and found it simply clips on the to end effector - the clips don't work all that well, but they do work well enough. The light has an adhesive strip that is supposed to hold it on to things like the adapter, but that didn't work well at all so I added a few dabs of hot glue.

For power I simply hooked the wires to the ones that power the heatsink fan. This means the light turns on as soon as the printer is on.

Jammed hotend

This is what I found inside my hotend when my Atom2 jammed after printing for about 2 hours. The nozzle itself is fine, as it the PTFE tube inside the hotend. I'm guessing that the extruder may be over-extruding and/or the Prime/Retract value, 3 mm, may be too large. So I'm going to try again with Extrusion Multiplier = 0.9 and Prime/Retract = 2 mm.
