Nice work! But a little bit under-extrusion. I would like to recommend that you could change PTFE tube which in the hotend.

It's the image processing done by Facebook that makes it look under extruded. In real life the part looks excellent - almost as good as injection molding. There is some stringing on the inside, but even that is fairly minor.

The PTFE tube inside the h otend is OK - I recently had the hotend disassembled to clear a jam, and the tube looked fine. I've found that I get good results by ignoring the recommended length for the tube and instead push the PTFE as far down into the hotend as possible and then cut it off even with the top of the connector to which the Y adapter connects.

A new Oops

What happens when there's a jam inside the Y connector. Fortunately it was easy to fix after disassembling everything.

New site to fix STL files (and it's FREE!)

https://service.netfabb.com/login.php

I just found this one and it works very well. I gave it a really nasty STL file to fix - one with overlapping shells that drives most slicers crazy - and it not only fixed it, but it made the file smaller too.

The same STL file crashed the Microsoft online service. 3D Builder sort of fixed it, but only the Prusa version of Slic3r could slice the result properly. Craftware and Simplify3D could not. But Craftware (my slicer of choice) sliced the file fine after running it through the above service.

Uh oh!

Print became unstuck from printbed while I was out running. Looks like a thermistor wire got broken because printer stopped with MINTEMP error. Since I can't heat up the hotend normally I may try torching it. Or, if I can find a spare hotend in my parts box I may just cut the wires and replace the whole thing, I've become pretty adept at splicing the heater & thermistor wires by now.

It turned out that replacing the entire hotend was the easiest solution. Fortunately I had a spare in my parts box that had all the necessary components except the connector on the ends of the heater disk wires.

But after careful inspection of the con nector from the above hotend I saw how to remove the wires from the connector and reconnect it to the wires from the replacement hotend. I should be good to go in the morning after I finish stuffing the wires & PTFE into the long plastic sheath.

Use a hair dryer instead of torching it directly, or you would burn all your wires.

Good suggestion - thanks. I've still got the hotend as pictured so I can do that.

I just posted this blog page about problems with STL files: http://birkbinnard.com/blog/problem-stl-files/ . I'd be interested in any comoments and/or suggestions anyone might have. Thanks in advance.
