I just received my Photon and my Prusa i3 MK3 kit yesterday. I have never used a 3D printer before but I am seriously going to dive in on these. Any of you fine people care to throw out something you wish you had known when you first started printing? Any tips/tricks to share or pitfalls to avoid? Thanks!

Hello. I'm brand new to the group and just got my first Photon. Previously I've been using a Prusa MK3.

I'm having an issue with adhesion. I followed Flint Reed's leveling advice but don't get any part of the print to adhere. Instead as soon as the print is high enough to see in the vat, I can see a solid mass in the resin with nothing attached. I feel pretty certain the z height is set right but wondering if maybe I should sand the plate some. I've verified the FEP film is nice and tight. I also set the base layers to 100 to try something different and am using the resin that comes with the printer.

Any insight or advice would be helpful.

Printed some items with my newly acquired (2ish weeks old) photon.. Truly amazed at the detail compared to my Prusa Mk2s. Changed my FEP for the first time last night and it was a much easier than anticipated. Excited to see what else this little machine can do!

I’ve just updated to the latest beta version of slic3r prusa edition which has the sl1 in it so it can now do resin prints trying to get it to work with the photon but tried just changing the output file to a .photon file but ChiTubox says it is an invalid file not tried it in the printer yet anyone else tried it and got it working as the support system seems better then the other options to date as it explains the settings and what they do thanks

Has anyone played around with Slic3r Prusa Edition. In their new Alpha you can slice for their upcoming SL1. Looks really nice, this is a slicer that would be awesome to be able to use with the photon.
Sure you can use it for supports and export the stl but I like the way slic3r have material profiles and stuff like that. There are corrections for size and material shrinkage and lots of fun stuff.
And its open source so maybe someone alot smarter then me can make something with it.

Just recently got my Photon after owning a Flashforge Finder, Wanhao i3 Plus and currently a Prusa i3 MMU2.

Dabbling in miniatures, jewellry (no casting yet :( ) and some kits.

Well day one down. Learnt a lot. Thank you everyone! Tried to print a bed full of minis.

The big one circled in red didn’t print ? came off of the supports. Should I have used medium supports? Or just more of them?

I also learnt not to have the base of the model touching the bed haha a lot of them have some of the base cut off. I should have rested the entire model on supports.

Lastly I ran the Prusa and printed a PETG cover for the VAT. Keep it safe while I’m at work!

Hey guys. :) I heard that the anycubuc is a really solid printer appart from the somewhat wobbely z achsis and weak led array and fan. Is there a way to change these things capable for a noob in electronics? (I own a prusa but that machine is like lego)

Printing with the photon just feels like cheating after using my prusa mk2s.

9.5 hours, 0.02 layer, green that came with printer. If requested I can get the rest of my print settings.

This is my new custom desk for my combo-printers Prusa i3 MK3 / Anycubic Photon. It has an enclosure for the Prusa and another space for 6 spools. I printed adjustable support for specials spools size. It's still not finished because I want add some mods. I hope you like it! :)
