Interesting move by zortrax. They've opened up their z-suite slicer to all LCD printers ?
Update: At first glance it looks good. I threw the Blood Demon model (Thingiverse) at it to see how it handled auto supports. Images in comments

Hello folks,
I have a noob question here. Just received my Photon S and went the whole leveling phase. I'm now ready to print but it won't read the provided USB . It actually won't read any of the half-dozen USB sticks I tried either.

I tried clean-formatting one in FAT32 with diskpart as well. It doesn't work any better.
Symptoms :
- shows nothing on the print menu of the lcd control for any of the key
- freezes the menu with the freshly formatted key.

UPDATE: STLs are ready, test prints are in progress and adjusments will be done if needed.

Hey everyone!

So I am around halfway done converting my old in-game mech model to a 3D printer friendly version (Few parts on the screenshot). I have limited access to a Form2 printer, but to speed things up with testing the pieces I am checking possibilities to buy a cheaper LCD 3D printer for myself. But before such an investment I was wondering if anyone would be interested at all to buy STL files when it's ready and/or interested in a video tutorial how to convert low poly game assets to subdivided, 3D printable surfaces? (Paint Concept and clay render is NOT the 3D printed version! Yet. :) )

Hello Team,

i need your help or advices.... Is my LCD dying ?

I had my photon since 4 months and it did incredible nice prints.

But my latests 10 to 15 prints has got some failures and i did not find the trick.

It started maybe 10 days ago but I did not change anything to my normal process.

I have some glued resin or shade in my print maybe a "Ghost in the VAT" and finally residual bad resin in it at the end.

The fact is than some prints are incomplete and I need to clean up the VAT each print.

I did the following :

- FW 4.2.19 for frame shearing with or without AA > Same issue and known bug for Fan too noisy.

- FW 4.2.18 > Same issue

- Lastest EPAX FW 4218 > Same issue (for me, it's the best FW at the moment for my hears)

- Replace FEP by a new one even if it was a proper one > Same issue

- Tried 3 differents resin and shake shake shake the bottle > Same issue

- Level bed again > Same issue

To be honest, i don't know what happend. I have no experience with this foggy issue but actually, it costed me lot of time, 2 FEP and at least 500ml of resin.

Can you give me your opinion ? Should I open the box and look for a new LCD ? Does Anycubic can help on this ?

Hi guys. Any idea what is the cause of this? When i just click up and down on the z axis this doesnt sound. But when i try to print or i try to check the lcd. It does this sound. Is this normal?

Got a bug again.

known issue: Z motor stops moving mid-print, LCD keeps exposing resin, no error message, stopping print and moving Z via menu works.

I don't see any fix available on the photonster. Can anyone help?

Update: it happened again on a model that shows the problem better (see new pics). 5mm off plate and medium chitubox supports, also only seems to happen on one side so I'm thinking FEP or LCD.

For the next installment of "Name That Problem" I submit:

Yes that is solid thick resin that I tried to break off (unsuccessfully) and it's happened on 3 models now. Only on ones that were printed at an angle though.

Levelling question.

I replaced my LCD today after the first broke, there was a visible break along the top of the screen, I get the feeling my z=0 was very low and perhaps this over time flexed the screen enough to break it.

I never had adhesion problems with my levelling after setting it quite low, so low I’d hear a short “grind” as it pushed to z=0. Obviously this wasn’t great but worked.

Do you think this could have been the likely cause the screen broke? There was also resin there, I’ve no idea how but perhaps that had an effect also?

I’ve re levelled now with a new print on the go but I’ve not heard the satisfying pop of the FEP so perhaps this one won’t stick, I’m just looking for opinions before I push z=0 lower and risk damage.

Some progress on Photonkenstein's Monster, my attempt to shoehorn a 70W parallel lens LED array into my Photon, because who doesn't like printing 3x as fast :D

It looks like it will all barely fit. I need to tweak the array mount to move it back and left (from the vantage of the picture) about 5mm, to clear the front LCD (the cover just barely doesn't close) and give a bit more clearance around the MB. That will almost have it touching the handle and Z motor, and is pretty much as far back as it can be tucked. The array is a bit bigger than the printable area on the Photon so I'll still have full coverage. I'd also honestly like to desolder the headers on the MB and reattach them to the back (to make them more accessible, as you currently need to remove the LED module and loosen the MB mount to get to them), but that's probably going a step too far!

Going to need to figure out how to mount the LED driver, 24V Boost Converter, and the MOSFET switch. Electrically it works, and there's space in the back corner, just need to figure out where to attach it. Maybe make a box that sticks out where the back panel attaches.

The power supply will just get strapped to the back of the Photon with velcro - it was meant to be enough power to run the printer and a PTC heater, so it will eliminate the brick once I'm satisfied it works.

Well, its my turn to ask the Hive for help. I've been printing on my photon for over 3 months around the clock. Just recently, I started seeing these weird, loose layers attached to my prints. It just happened all of a sudden and havent been able to get rid of them. I've replaced my vat. Leveled the print bed. Have had successful prints, just have this extra goop along with the prints. Did an LCD and lamp test. They checked out. Any other ideas? Old resin maybe?
