Honestly love this printer. Fixing up the gaps with some apoxie sculpt and will prime and paint. Need to fix the file itself. Some parts are much too thin before I will post to thingiverse want to be able to make it printable via fdm as well.

What's the best software to use instead of netfabb's online tool for repairing a stl? I'm always hitting the file size limit.

Hello Guys,

Been having a weird issue lately, all prints are coming out fine, but for some reason I'm getting a thin layer of cured resin on the FEP for anything I print.

This time it kind of messed up my gobo :(

You can see where the print was as there is a small "hole" at the bottom of the cured layer.

Tried dry printing the same print, everything looked ok

Print turned out mostly ok, except for some failures on the flag, I'm thinking the thin layer got in the way of my thin supports and messed up the bottom of the flag

Auto supports in Prusa, and then supported what was left in Chitubox.

Any ideas on what might be causing that thin layer to form?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: added print settings

First print ever, skipped anything test/demo related and cut to the chase: my application are teeth models.

Read everything and beyond while on vacation when the unopened Photon S was waiting for me to come back, sealed with kapton the borders of the screen, leveled with the printer paper sheet method, checked the FEP to be at 297Hz, room temperature just shy of 19°C, translucent green resin that everyone seems to be getting bundled with their S's, poured just a few mm's in the VAT, 0.02mm layer, 4 bottom layers at 60s and the rest at 8s, hollow model with 1mm thick walls, 3 holes on the bottom and placed a tube in meshmixer from one side to the other near the base; got reassuring plopping sound at most plate risings.

Gosh the smell! Headache and irritated nasal cavities, missus yelling at me, but the DeStinkyNator is a long-ass print and I am actually thinking about just building something with maybe wood PVC and what else. Used no gloves up to this point as I'm used to handle dangerous stuff without ever touching it, so my fingers never went on the resin, nor the resin on anything else except the vat.

Two hours print, after which I rotated the plate 90° so resin could drip back in the vat. Now the printer is resting while covered with the box it was shipped in, so no light whatsoever hits it, because sure as heck I don't plan on refilling the tank each time, even if my prints will be mostly far apart.

In the upcoming days I will get to building a handmade destinkynator, and wash/cure the model (UV strips are still on the way but I've got a weird old machine with couple Philips UV tubes inside that I can use).

I was expecting drama at the first go, and had a lot of uncertanties since I supposed I had to increase the exposure time, but all was way smoother that I thought (model included ? )

Build times are mostly based on total height of the print, right? Doesn't matter how wide or complex. If it's taller it will take longer? I'm trying to figure out ways to be more efficient with plate loading and putting more tall items on a print seems reasonable so instead of printing the same large thing multiple times and keeping print time long I'm building all the tall pieces/copies at once at the long build time and the shorter pieces/copies for the shorter build times.

Is my reasoning sound?

Hey all! Crappy painter here.

I just wanted to share with you guys the most epic model I've printed and preshaded so far. Painting is in progress, but I can already feel that it will be amazing ?

It's a dragon from Archvillain Games , the epic model they wanted to release for all their patrons on Patreon upon reaching 200 patrons. They rushed it, dragon is available now, that is, during January, and ONLY in January, so if you want it, go and get it. It's literally $10 xD

Well, they are also running a painting competition, the rules of which can be found on their group Archvillain Games Patrons . You can win an annual subscription to their .stl files for printing! Might want to check this out ?

I have decided to try PrusaSlicer for it's autosupport function and when i open the exported STL in chitubox, some supports seem to be hollow and the node also shows up as an unsupported island on photon file validator. Any solution to this?

My first post! I've been lurking and all of the advice shared here has been super helpful.

I was recently hired to recreate a character from the Spiderwick Chronicles movie for one of the authors. I delivered 11" tall FDM printed versions in 2 different poses. This smaller 5.25" version is just for me and was made on my recently acquired Photon.

Sorry, but I cannot share the STLs.

It was modeled in Zbrush Core and then posed in Blender. This was only my 3rd model in Zbrush so I still have a lot to learn. The extremely high poly count made it difficult to pose in Blender, but I managed by using a lower poly model and then copying the influence weights.

As you can see, the detail is quite good. I used Elegoo Grey and the settings directly from the community chart. Chitubox for the slicer.

Happy new year everyone. Keep on printing!

Thinking about buying a resin printer. I have a garage but its not heated really. How would the cold affect printable material. Was thinking about using heated mats in a cubberd or buld a box for it that I can also use as a spray booth. Would use mostly for minis and DnD stuff. But cold rooms how does it affect resins and build quality. Thanks for your time.
