Got a friend who's a HUGE final fantasy 7 nerd so printed him a tiny midgar ?
File off thingiverse, printed in anycubic black (20 quid a liter, bargain)
0.02mm resolution, 10 base layers @90 seconds for adhesion, 6 seconds thereafter.

That's awesome! Do you have a direct link? Looking for "Midgar", "FF7" and "Final Fantasy" and can't seem to find it!

Really cool print.

Edit: Found one on MMF: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-midgar-101209

Kyle Telechan yeah my bad, it was off mmf XD

John Jones
2020-03-18 05:32:13

That's absolutely rad. Might print one for my friend who's a big FF7 fan.

btw where'd you find the resin for £20 a litre?

Richard Flanagan
2020-03-18 10:40:44

John Jones on anycubic ebay page, was on sale

Did anyone had the chance to compare Prusa SL1 with Anycubic side by side?

My anycubic photon zero lcd broke and waiting for replacement. My fep film had a defect from factory so I want to replace it, bought new film for it. Had to watch a guide for the "normal" anycubic photon. Was hard to seperate the "holder" for the fep and it seems like it was glued. Shouln't you be able to change it?

Jayson Jacob Warren
2020-03-17 22:17:07

Yes, it typically just pops off. The glue you might be thinking of would probably just be dried resin that seeped in between the fep and the tension plate

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 22:19:38

Jayson Jacob Warren Ok so you should be able to open it like this? Even some of the plastic parts broke like they all were clued

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 22:20:59

Jayson Jacob Warren Like if they all were fused

Richard Humble
2020-03-17 22:21:17

Alfons Gunnesgård that does not look like it's supposed to be replaced.

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 22:22:32

Richard Humble So if you need to replace it you need to buy the whole thing with the plastic part?

Richard Humble
2020-03-17 22:27:52

Jason Turner
2020-03-17 22:27:56

I just did mine yesterday, it was clean. And my Photon came with two feps, yours didn't?

Richard Humble
2020-03-17 22:28:24

This is a photon zero

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 22:30:46

Jason Turner You have the photon zero?

Jason Turner
2020-03-17 22:31:14

Alfons Gunnesgård oh sorry friend. I have the regular Photon.

Jason Turner
2020-03-17 22:31:37

But still, you should be able to change it. The FEP is a consumable.

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 22:31:56

Jason Turner yes thats why i thought it was strange

Jason Turner
2020-03-17 22:32:51

From the images, it looks like resin seeped in as you said and made it hard to separate.

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 22:50:11

Jason Turner Hum, i sent a ticket to anycubic, let's see what they say about it

Jason Turner
2020-03-17 22:52:26

Alfons Gunnesgård they are super awesome in their customer service. They helped me with an issue I was having. Great care

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 22:55:34

Jason Turner I hope they don't say that you shouldn't be able to open it and that I need to order a kit ? If so maybe i need to reglue it after i replace the fep?

Jason Turner
2020-03-17 23:40:10

Alfons Gunnesgård no, I wouldn't. You'll need to replace the FEP every now and then

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 23:42:11

Jason Turner So in the case of it's being sold as a unit(holder and fep). I can try to change the fep film, not glue it and see if it works(no leakage)?

Jason Turner
2020-03-17 23:52:43

Alfons Gunnesgård yes. With all those screws, the FEP acting as a gasket and the recessed track you screw the frame to, there shouldn't be any leaks

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-17 23:53:12

Jason Turner ok thank you

Jason Turner
2020-03-17 23:54:04

Alfons Gunnesgård my pleasure sir.

Nick Ahlbin
2020-03-18 04:00:21

I wonder how many times you can remove the screws if they are screwed directly into the plastic

Nick Ahlbin
2020-03-18 04:04:51

I bet that they will do the same as with the Elegoo Mars disposable trays

Janne Sjöström
2020-03-18 15:33:28

According to Anycubic advertising, it should be possible to change the fep film.

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-18 18:18:07

Janne Sjöström We got answer from anycubic, the fep and the holder is one pice and you need to order it as a kit

Alfons Gunnesgård
2020-03-18 18:19:42

Janne Sjöström
2020-03-18 19:19:50

Fellow Photon users. I have currently been using anycubic gray resin a d got my setting dialed in pretty good. I am switching to the Anycubic plant based PURPLE resin very soon for reasons. Anyone that uses the plant based resin, could you tell me what settings i.e. exposure times and so on, that you personally use with the plant based resin to get great results? Pictures with plant based resin prints would be nice as well. Thanks in advance!

Two successful minis, cured and clear coated. My half elf bard, and my buddies Dwarf rogue.
I posted the elf yesterday, but I think two successes in a row deserves to be celebrated. Only done a handful of prints, since I can only use the printer on my days off. When I can get out to the garage

Edit: print settings are anycubic clear resin, .02 later height, 6 second exposure. 8 bottom layers, bottom layer exposure 50. Off time 1.

Ben James Couey

8, exposure fifty.

I'll add that all to the post too

Merv Hinton
2020-03-17 15:16:57

Perfect..when you can see awesome results like this it'll be really good to get the numbers,Resin and suchlike for reference..the Google spreadsheet was ok for starters but I think we need to get a bit more result based.. especially for people having problems with peeling and poor resolution..

Ben James Couey
2020-03-17 15:19:54

Merv Hinton the doc had really bad info for the clear resin. Went through a bunch of trial and error. At these settings spots that don't have too much support tend to fail, even if those spots aren't islands. Like, the dwarfs arm, printed sheared off. Had to support it better. Second try the base got messed up, so I supported that better. Third try it all came out nice.

Merv Hinton
2020-03-17 15:23:49

Is anybody else having issues with Anycubic support not communicating in any capacity at all? I realise COVID19 is causing disruptions. But I made a resin order almost a month ago and then received an email saying the stuff I ordered was out of stock and asked for a response. Unfortunately I've had no further feedback whatsoever from the several emails I've now sent to their customer support. I'm not venting, just curious if anyone else is experiencing this as well.

Heya Phil
2020-03-17 14:11:03

It also happened to me. They said they were out of a certain color, and listed what they have in stock. I replied stating which in stock color I'd like. No response and it's been about 4 business days. So MAYBE they got the message?

I got my maschines without problems, and spareparts to my I3 Mega with out any probems, but I got the wasch and harden thing with some damage to the container, and they are not communicating at all this time, I do think it is caused by the virus

Liam Kaiser Wilhelm Smith
2020-03-18 02:09:19

Mate international shipping is pretty much non-existant at this point. Large quantities of ports are closed or restricting volume. you have to take into account how many people are probably emailing a day.

John Driggers
2020-03-18 02:24:18

My Zero and wash station turned up in 7 and 9 days respectively.

Tyron Craft
2020-03-18 04:15:17

Same happened to me, they said they are experiencing a shortage atm. This was 4 weeks after ordering and i told them i was going to pull my order and that i wasnt happy with the service.

They then started emailing me constantly and sent me an extra 500ml of resin for the trouble

Josh Dalgliesh
2020-03-18 07:54:27

Tyron Craft ooft, I did similar yesterday but instead was notified by the text based delivery tracker system that i was going to be refunded. Still no actual communication from them. I think it's rather unfortunate really cause prior to now I've receiv ed really good service from them which aligns with the reports from everyone else I've spoken to. I understand losing delivery efficiency but communication should be easy to achieve, even if they just used automated messaging.

Tyron Craft
2020-03-18 07:58:39

Josh Dalgliesh fully agree. I too was having nothing but good things to say, had no issues with quality and fast delivery. This was pretty sad when it never showed up. Hence my email to them. Overall im happy that they fulfilled my order with an extra. Admittedly it wasnt the original colour i wanted but hey atleast i got it.

I now however will be buying local from monocure

Josh Dalgliesh
2020-03-18 08:20:15

Tyron Craft yeah same boat. Just put in my order for 5L from monocure. First time buying from them but have also heard only good things from them. Don't forget the "monophoton" coupon code btw. Might give anycubic another try once things have blown over since I like their ECO Resin.

Tyron Craft
2020-03-18 08:21:08

Josh Dalgliesh oh damn! Whats the code give us? Im about to buy 5l jug

Josh Dalgliesh
2020-03-18 11:42:03

Tyron Craft pretty sure it was 10% off

Hello everyone! Firstly, I 100% tried to use the search function. Second, I didn’t get the cube loaded to the memory stick, I got these strange things. Third, I scraped two plates off that were just flat, no extra greebles, I’m assuming there were supposed to be eight. That being said, am I having a leveling issue and need to retry, or is there something else? The two mess ups were only on one side. Also, there is a bit of a haze on my FEP. Super clean before hand, followed the Anycubic cleaning guide, and it seems off now and not clear.

Yeah, these were on my memory stick too. Just got my Photon just over a week ago. Had similar issue where prints were sticking to FEP rather than the bed unless I releveled the bed prior to each use. I picked up the Sprectrum mobile app for my phone and tuned the FEP to around 330Hz and did a good print run yesterday without any issues after just leveling it once.

Rigo Arevalo
2020-03-17 10:45:56

what did you not like about yours ?

John Driggers
2020-03-17 10:48:15

Rigo Arevalo The stamped aluminum "top" piece that attaches to the arm torques the bottom "bed" plate no matter how I attempt to tighten it, resulting in one side lower than the other.

Toby Kirkby
2020-03-17 11:04:26

The zero is terrible.

The ball and socket leveling is far, far better than most other options (just tighten the damn thing)

90% ofnthosenwho complain about their leveling slipping just don't tighten it enough but blame the mechanism rather than themselves

Rigo Arevalo
2020-03-17 11:08:56

hmm, I think I’m understanding you, but did you level the bed by listening the 4 screws *after* making sure the top know was tight? I don’t have any issues with it at all. I love it because I changed my ball to the ex leveler on my photon and it’s been so good after that

You didn’t like yours either ?

John Driggers
2020-03-17 11:12:08

Craig Gardner Same - I can get it to within about 0.35mm side to side. It's just frustrating on what's otherwise a really nice, inexpensive printer. I'm working from home for the foreseeable. so I'll have some quality time to see if I can figure out how to correct it or compensate for it.

I'm not sure, and I am new and the zero is my first printer. But I seemed to have leveled mine fine, no issues there. But I guess if I had other printers too maybe I would understand, I guess.

I have the Saturn, the Zero, the Mars, and the photon.

Both the leveling systems work perfectly.

James Bricknell amazing - how did you level the Zero?

John Driggers loosen the screws, put paper on the lcd, Set z=0, push down the bed, and tighten screws.

Done.

James Bricknell nice - mine twists to the side when you attempt to tighten the screws.

John Driggers hmm that's weird. Even if you tighten them evenly?

John Driggers

James Bricknell yeah. When you get to the point of actually tightening one, it torques the plate. I’ve got it pretty level now but it’s been a right pain in the arse.

John Driggers sounds a damn pain in the ass

James Bricknell what’s the price point on the Saturn?

Ian Henry we don't know yet. I'll let you all know as soon as I can though

Oh mine is flat, I don’t have any issues with that. Maybe that newer bed has a slight manufacturing issue? Is the bed bolted to that upper part ?

John Driggers

Rigo Arevalo looks like a different bed at least.

I really like that one, I’m sure that’s where the problem is tho, have you contacted them regarding this maybe that part just needs replacing. Do you have some compound squares or other measuring tools to see if that thing is “square” ok all axis ?

Rigo Arevalo yeah, I’ve a surface table and associated measuring tools, going to have a play with it later this evening.

I’ve dropped a note to Anycubic support , not heard anything back.

Last night I was averaging 0.8mm side to side, referencing the bed to the lcd. Front to back was not as bad at 0.5mm.

John Driggers Do you tighten 1 and then move to the next? Then that is your problem...
In a "system" like that, you need to give each a turn before you completely tighten to prevent torque movement.

Basically like your fep replacement, you give each screw a turn in a X pattern... until their all tight.

Xi-Sheng Luo Yep - try left to right, criss / cross, everything.

With half/quarter turns?

-edit:
If it moves when you give it like quarter turns, It usually is because then it is "settling" into it's neutral position. (you know, like when you tighten a screw in a hole that has a recess for the screw.)

Hey Guys,

I‘m in this group since a long time. I have an Anycubic Photon S with the newest Softwareupdate on it.

The printer is absolutely great but there is a problem since the last few prints.

I have two times layershifts in my prints. always at the same hight. See the picture.

I can not find the origin of this problem. the z-axis have no problems.

Could someone give me an hint what I could do to solve this problem?

Thank you in advance.
