Ok.

I tried a few more prints last night and they failed.

There was a severe temperature drop outside last night and I forgot I had the window open a tiny bit and the temp in my room dropped so they weren’t sticking to the build plate.

Current settings are 120 second exposure for bottom 3 layer and 14 seconds per layer with 1 second off time which is what the spreadsheet says. That is if I read it correctly.

Baby Yoda is running on the machine now!! Will be about 5 hours!

UPDATE: I think i got it, I could hear the FEP stretching as the machine peeled the layers

Welp

I finally got my photon (a fauxton to be specific), but 3 outta 3 times the print failed by not sticking to the print bed

I bought a 4 gig USB fat32 formatted

I updated the firmware

I put some Kapton tape in the edges of the LCD to avoid spills from getting into the system

I leveled the print bed using the Reed method

And proceeded to print the anycubic lattice cube, the one from the website

I checked the progress 10 minutes later and the print bed was empty, so I checked using the plastic spatula the vat and there was a resin circle stuck to it, I got it out filtered the resin back into the bottle and tried to level the bed again using the anycubic method

Again, the print did not stick to the print bed, so I tried leveling again using the reed method with the same results

What can I do? the only thing that I notice is weird is that the print bed is white on the bottom instead of being blue like the rest

Also whenever I use the Reed method I never get the bed to a point where is hard to move in the FEP, that might be it but I fear cracking the screen

My Photon S has just started making this noise at the begining of prints. It's stops after a few minutes, and it also doesn't make the noise when I move the build plate up and down with the controls so I don't think it's a motor thing. Only had the machine for 3 weeks.

I own an ender3, and for that machine there are som extensive troubleshooting documents, listing known issues, and ways to try to fix them.

Do we have somthing similar for the Photon?

Just finished printing these guys. Have a weird artifact at the same height across all 3 models. Middle model the support failed. Checked the original model and doesn't show anything. Possible lcd failure? Machine is only a couple weeks old. Supported in prusa and sliced in chitubox. Any ideas?

Aftermarket FEP?

I recently bought a pack of Dotbit FEP for my Photon. The first one I replaced lasted 3 prints then split at the edge of the tank causing resin to run through the LED into the machine. Ruined and thrown in bin as not salvageble. I bought a new Photon and continued to use the Original tank plus replaced FEP and after a week it has like creases in the film that ruined the print.. Yes it was tensioned correctly. Looks like bodgy FEP. Or have I missed something?

OK, another noobie question (sorry). I've worked on CAD for years and years and we have a solidscape wax machine. But I've just bought a Photon S to prototype a few bits and to produce things like the attached pic in small numbers. No matter how many ways I place supports and angle the item on the bed, also trying different settings I still end up with a model that has issues with slightly wrinkled surfaces or sagging. Am I chasing rainbows here, or is a usable item achievable, model is 45mm long. Thanks

Any ideas?

I've printed a few nice things so know my machine is calibrated well, but can't figure out what I've done wrong here...

It seems it suddenly started sticking to the FEP as there's a bunch of stuff stuck to it at the bottom now (I'd just cleaned it before printing).

for those of you who didn’t see my last post....

I’m having issues with my anycubic photon s freezing mid print. I’ve changed drives, updates the programs I use and the machine’s programs, I’ve tried changing the name to something short, sliced in photon slicer and chitubox, reslicing. Nothing helps and there’s no rhyme or reason to when it freezes. But I’ve wasted the better part of a bottle of resin on failed prints.

Any more ideas?

This is what the screen shows when it freezes.

Hey! I'm looking to buy an Anycubic 3d printer soon, and can't make up my mind between the Photon and the Photon S. Is there an article describing the difference or could someone owning both machines tell me if it is actually better to get one or the other? Thanks!
