So I've been doing some thinking recently and noticed how many people lament the inability to see whether a print has failed until after it clears the top of the vat....sometimes wasting hours just to find a solid clump of resin at the bottom. I've seen a few people here talk of wishing to be able to see their part through the vat. I'm an aerospace engineer and ex machinist so coming up with, and making, a replacement vat wouldn't be particularly difficult. I wanted to poll the community to see if there is any interest in a replacement vat that would allow you to see the print at all stages and, if so, what the preferred method would be. The two options I have currently are: an aluminum vat, similar to what we have now, that has a window of some sort cut into the side. Obviously it would be well sealed and allow for easy viewing. Alternatively, a clear plastic replacement vat (think: the formlabs vat but with our vats design). Would have metallic threads for the fep frame and need to be made of something/coated with something that would prevent a permanent bond between it and cured resin/strong enough to not be damaged when trying to remove stuck on resin.

hey folks....absolutely pulling my hair out now. have tried over 35 prints now and NOTHING is printing. I have up and down my print setting for monocure grey, new fep tuned to 330hz, sanded build plate and releveled the whole machine and build plate. tried printing using many different usb sticks and firmwares. this is the lastest print trial and settings. brand new machine .

Hi! I have a few questions for you, photoners :D Print on photos is 0,05 layer with Harz Labs Model Cherry, 15s layer, 3s off, 8 base layers@120s. Print base is some 9cm long and 5.5 across. Is there a way to avoid this "wood grain" texture? I know I should not print flat, but needed quick print, even at the cost of quality, also sometimes horizontal parts are hard to avoid almost every time part of the base do not stick to the table. What I can do to remedy that? In general, what can be done to make print better(except layer thickness? 翻譯年糕

I’m curious if anyone has slowly changed the resin concentration in the vat mid print to gradually become more flexible, or maybe introduce a color gradient. Pause the print, Add a bit of new material, stir, resume for X layers, repeat.

Resin printing is new and fascinating to me and I absolutely love this machine

Tallest print yet, 145mm, got to love this printer, 10hr print, 15min of bathing and sanding and I have something that looks and feels bought. Now just time to final cure. Fits like an absolute glove too. Going to fill in some support marks and plastidip in black for that factory look and feel. Thanks Matt Tilson for the suggestion.

Hey dear people,

got my Photon last week and was super happy with my initial prints (with the standard green resin that it comes with).

Now I need to print some more technical prototypes that have to hold up to some abuse. My bet was on the Photocentic DLP Firm White resin, but results where a little underwhelming. Also the 20s exposure as suggested by Mario Kaufmann (Thanks for your research btw!) is just horribly long with 13,5 hours of print time (and that 4 times, as I had to split up the model because of size).

So does anyone have a suggestion of what resin to use instead? ABS like strength would be ideal, but then its just for prototypes that will be handled rather carefully... so I can make a compromise here.... More importantly: Can't wait 2 whole days just for one final prototype. And final resolution should be better.

Looking forward to your suggestion. I'm really surprised about this community. You guys are great!

Edit: Ill post some pictures of my print once im done waiting for 13 hours ?

Hey guys!
I'm trying to design and print some minis myself. I'll do a bunch more of them, but here's how the first 3 looks x]
I wanted them to be quite expressive with interesting silhouette and lots of movement BUT be simple enough at the same time so I can finally start learning painting minis myself :D

Everything printed with Ameralabs resin - 0.04mm layer height, 5.6s normal exposure, 4xAA in Chitubox.
The bigger ones are around 35mm in height, the smaller ones at around 28mm (80% scale)
I printed everything straight on the build plate and only needed a few additional supports. That ofcourse gives a little expanded lip at the bottom of the base, but I think it even adds to a look.. nothing bad :D
