So I left the resin in the tank for about a week. no windows in the room and Im barely in there for more than 1-2 hours a day, working on a huge file to print.

When Im finaly ready to print, the FEP have had a small leak and I got no extra lying around...

Is this normal for it to just start leaking because the resin is just in there?

Hi Guys, this is going to be interesting.

So as you know I design a lot of scale parts for my RC helis - this means parts are exposed to vibration, elements, wind - the works.
So far for the small scale fittings I was doing prints on Anycubic Photon (Ameralabs and Siraya resins) and if something had more curviture or was bigger - Peopoly Moai.
FDM was used only for big parts. Now after finishing building my e3d tool changer I decided to optimized my Prusa MK3S for fine detail printing
- prints with ASA
- layer height of 0.05mm (most of my photon prints i do at 0.04 or 0.05)
- 0.15mm nozzle (so twice the diameter of Peopoly Moai laser, photon res is 0.047 by 0.047 but obviously this means aliasing)

I wanted to see how much detail I can get
And I do have to say - to a naked eye there is no loss of fidelity, even under a microscope the difference in detail is managable.

Prints have to be done with ABS or ASA (petg or pla may clog)
Benefits
- parts are lighter, the wire cutter on fdm was 3g vs 8g resin (ASA density is 1.09g/cm3 vs resin that is on 1.35,also can do very thing permiters i.e 0.45mm)
- parts are stronger

Drawback
- marginal loss of fidelity
- print times on average 3x of how long it would tool on photon with 12s exposure.

Oh, acetone smoothing on more organic parts - wow!

So what's the deal with this print failure? This is 0.03 height, 8 bottom layers, 60 bottom exp, 5.25 exp on a Photon S (Anycubic Grey). Bed has been level as I've printed several other things just fine, FEP is new (I had replace it two prints ago). I stopped the print so that's why the sword is clipped, but the cape is all wonky. (Keep in mind she is globby because I didn't bother to wash her off in IPA.) Something wrong with my supports (placed manually)? In Validator I had a handful of islands with less than 10 pixels off.

so have been having issues with my 1st printer all of a sudden..nothing has changed..i get random holes or really weird extra resin skin that isnt part of the models..

what type of thing would cause this? bad lcd screen? or something? i have a 2nd one and it's fine...same models, etc..nothing different....

im at my wits end on this one...only got it back in sept of last year...was doing great up until a few days ago...i replaced the fep...but made sure that they plastic film piece was off and it's all tight, etc....any help would be appreciated..

Good day to all! I want to share my new project. With the modernization of our Photon S printer, I increasingly prefer 3D printing to bring my ideas to life. After the successful appearance of the first night-lamp Croc, which is in the photo below, I decided to try to create its mini-version, which will literally fit in the palm of my hand and become a cute box for tiny things. It was printed at a 20-micron layer. The 3D model is very rich in details in all planes and has a complex terrain requiring high precision resin. And #HarzLabs Model Cherry resin copes with it wonderfully, which invariably pleases with its accuracy and beauty. In addition, it looks wonderful as a material for luminous elements, this can be seen in the photographs of the big Croc, and soon you can look at this effect on the small crystals of micro-Croc when it is ready. In the meantime, here are a few of his photographs immediately after printing and removal from the supports. I'm looking to update the firmware on my photon printer. I have been advised to and have downloaded 4.2.18 but am unsure what to do next. Do I just plug the USB in and switch it on?

The Anycubic website has 5.0.2 on, should I use that one instead?

This is a lot like the last video just a little cleaner and a little more thorough. 3D printing as an extension of model building is no different than model building in that noticing what you're doing and if it worked in the first place has most of what it takes to be successful. If you decide to get into 3D printing just realize that what may appear to be failures at first are only failures if you don't try it one more time.

Unusual results from my exposure test. Any ideas?

Used the 50um 2-20s file on OG Photon with Anycubic Maroon resin. Ambient temp is about 68-70 degF.

Ok did a shoot out today. All same method using elegoo green clear resin and a small ultrasonic cleaner for 3 mins. Rinsed in cold water then 10 mins under uv light
This is to find a solution most people have to hand (or under my kitchen sink). in UK selection is limited. Prices updated per litre I paid

1 brake cleaner. Good but cloudy. Not exactly the best for toxicity and disposal £4 per litre
2 pine disenfectant 25% solution good and pretty clear. 10%. Not so good still marks on surface £1 per litre before dilution
3 orange surface cleaner. Useless doesn’t really get rid of the resin needs scrubbed £1.50 per litre
4 cillit bang kitchen degreaser. Not bad at all. Still cloudy. £3 per litre
5. IPA. Cleanest surface finish but dull on clear resin. £10 per litre
6 gunk degreaser. Best looking finish and clearest. Downside is it’s almost as toxic as resin. £5 per litre.

Overall IPA is best if your not using a clear resin and want to paint best surface feel. If your looking for clarity Gunk degreaser wins but be careful with it. Best all rounder is pine disinfectant at 25-30% solution.

FINALLY. For cleaning up. IPA followed by Cillit Bang is cleaning up the mess brilliantly
