Just curious but was wondering if anyone tried converting a .gcode file into a .photon

I am thinking about seeing if it is possible

Update: thanks guys! 12min later and I’m up and printing again. The reset g code file did the trick

Photon dead or salvageable?

Has worked flawlessly for over a year. Finished a print overnight, perfect, fan still running. Turned it off, then back on, then started next print (as I always do), but no fan, no movement of build plate, and just stuck at 1%. Restarting doesn’t help, but I don’t even know what else to try

Anyone seen this before? Even if it’s a total loss I still feel like I got my moneys worth on this bad boy, just hoping it’s fixable

my printer has stopped going up and down during a print maybe 2/4 of the last prints i've done. it's exposing fine, the bed just isn't moving.

does anyone have any ideas what might cause this? perhaps a faulty usb connection? i ran the same gcode twice and it had the issue the first time and not the second, so i'm inclined to say it's not the fault of the code.

I am having no luck at all with my Photon. I have had this machine for a year, no issues. Suddenly in the middle of a print I had an error. Fan would no longer turn on. I had read that I needed to flash the firmware. So I DL the latest version 4.2.19 and start up the machine with the files copied to the root. I get a series of beeps, and then print the 1-fpga29_P29_104.bin file. System info now shows V4.2.9.3_LCD/1440x2560 /F2.9, I slice ANY file and go to print and I get this garbage printing out. Nothing like what I selected (and the only file on the USB drive). Steps I have taken: Run the factory reset gcode. Reflashed to 4.2.19. Re-sliced a simple file. Same result. Cleaned glass under the vat, replaced the FEP (which was perfectly clear), zeroed the plate. Run the test with known good settings...I am at a total loss here.

Is it better to disable the build area fan with GCODE and leave fan in place, disconnect it from the motherboard and put in a cap, or use the VOC 3M adapter kit with the Photon?

Resolved: I cannot use gcode files with the Fauxton. =/

I am attempting to run the resin exposure finder. I downloaded it from Github. I have a standard Photon running Firmware V5.0.2. When I put the GCODE files in the base directory (as pictured) the printer cannot see the files to print. I feel like I'm missing something obvious, because the directions make it seem obvious. I should just be able to insert the flash drive and print the GCODE files, right?

Anybody ever use this for resin tests?

This is just a straight, sliced ".photon" file print, right? There's no PrintTest.gcode involved, right?

Hi!
So I am a proud owner of a Photon (luckily, the original, not a fauxton), bought last week with firmware 4.2.17

A couple of days ago, I got hit by the random freeze/reset/restart failure. After the first layer, the photon crashes and reboots, leaving me with the cured first layer of resin and having to clean up.

I can usually resolve the issue by turning off the printer, unplugging the usb stick, unplugging power for a couple of minutes. Replug power cord, turn on, and replug usb stick. If I want to start another print back2back, I will receive the first layer-freeze-restart error.

I have so far: checked the usb cable connections (inside back panel), which looked fine.

Through research, this seems to be an issue with some ICBuffer? Will a factory reset (via factory-default.gcode) help me with my issue? Should I upgrade to FW 4.2.18 first or after the reset?

Do I have to relevel (and set new z=0) after flashing FW or resetting to factory-default?

I have also read that the EEPROM may be corrupted through unstable power supply? How can I check if my power brick is faulty?

I have also replaced the anycubic usb stick with a new branded one and will stick to that one with all my ongoing operations.

Hi I wanted to run the resin exposure test on the photon s. I have the file for the photon S, and I see in the old test for the original photon you need to run the gcode to stop the build plate moving. the code files do not show up on my photon S, how do I get it to show?

Yet Another XP Finder Question...but with a small twist

I have a Qidi Shadow 5.5 S. It is powered by a Chitu main board, just as the Photon.

I ran the XPFinder scripts, which worked perfectly. Once. Since running them, I've been having many issues: Z not homing, or homing incorrectly; "air printing", etc.

I expect that I'm actually dealing with a faulty controller, or corrupted firmware, based on my issues, but I need to explore this side of things, too.

With the Chitu firmware bring closed source, I have no real way to confirm original configuration, and that the XPF gcode to reset to print mode is providing compatible settings.

So, my question (s):

1) is there any way to extract current settings and values from a stock Chitu-based printer? Anything like Marlin's M503?

2) is there any information on what gcodes work and are meaningful with Chitu?

3) anything else, any *where* else, I can look for info on Chitu firmware, configuration settings info, or even a resource for uncompiled source?

TIA!
