Anyone know of better hinges for the cover?? Mainly something bought. My Ender does not print dimensionally accurate, haha.

So far I've been able to print only single minis. for some reason I can't fill the print area. Newbie question #45: Should I join it into a massive raft or keep them apart? Thanks!

EDIT1: What it weird is that single figures print okay even when not centered, but I put a lot of minis and suddenly I only get the first layer. The FEP is brand new, came with the vat stretched as hell from factory.

I was using the green resin but I pretty much wasted it all on trials (it hurts!).

I'm running the first try with multiple using White Anycubic Resin, 0.02 layer, Normal Exposure 10, Offtime 2, Bottom 50 and bottom layer 8.

Ran 6 single minis and the config is doing
great.

UPDATE: trial run successful with 4 minis and contiguous raft. I think the settings for green resin I was using were a bit off. Will increment accuracy using the tips you guys gave me tonight and post the results

Can you hollow out a model without Having a draining hole? My biggest question is, does hollowing your model make it more accurate? Or is it just to save resin?

I know you all are posting super advanced stuff with loads of details, but I like to post something very simple, but very practical. When working on this 1:87 scale model train I just purchased, I didn't see I broke the whistle on the roof (smallest part, just 2mm tall). You can't get these things as spare part, you would have to order the whole roof. But we have a Photon, right?! I had another similar train, so measure the whistle, but being so tiny and the place where it is fitted, it was difficult to measure, so it is not 100% accurate. But the Photon printed it well. If I really wanted, I could change the measurements to be an exact copy, but I don't care enough to do that.

In short: the Photon saved the day. Or, well, this model.

(If it isn't obvious, on the picture you see two roofs. Left with the original whistle, right the Photon one.)

Hi, new member here. My Photon arrives on Friday.
I own an Ender 3 but decided I needed more fine detail.
My main printing subject is HO scale vehicles (trucks in particular) , any veteran print masters care to share their tips for this subject?
Also, being a big fan of Cura and it's print preview system, I'm after the nearest equivalent for the Photon. I've managed to download the Anycubic slicer and find the preview a bit difficult to read. Any slicer recommendations?

Is there any way to adjust/calibrate the zsteps on the Photon? I'm accurate on x&y with exposure settings, but z winds up a shy short

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share my experiences regarding the new Formfutura Platinum LCD Series Solid Black resin. I have very good experiences with Formfutura regarding their FDM filaments and they are located in my hometown, thefore i though i would give them a go. My two cents about the experience..

So they advertise it as the following;

Almost no odour - Compared to other resins on the market our Platinum LCD resin is relatively odour-free!
UV & weather resistant
Fast printing with short curing times
High accuracy
Vivid colours with an extremely high level of colour fastness
Truly opaque and translucent colours available
No discolouration and/or yellowing
Low shrinkage
Compatible with all open source LCD and DLP in the range of 385 - 420nm

Paricullary two of those USP's got my attention; the odourless and the UV Resistant.

For settings they recommend 14s normal layer exposure. For the base i got it up 80-90 seconds for proper adhesion to the buildplate. Base layers; 4.

Regarding the odourless this is defenitly true if I can trust my nose (and i have very limited ventilation in my printerspace - with Anycubic Green you didnt want to stay there longer then 2 mins). Regarding the UV Resistance - this i will have to see over time. In general the mechanical properties are not wow, but not so bad either. Atleast less brittle then Anycubic Green. Regarding the price - it is quite ok around 35€ for 500g of resin, not really cheap but for me it is sourced quickly and i like to support local suppliers. Regarding accuracy this was actually really good. Also after printing the components had a soft touch feeling to it. I added some pictures to give you an idea on what in printed. I will ad more in the future. Would recommend if you are looking for an odourless resin. Also support of Formfutura is great as always. They let me know they will start releasing some more interesting resins in a couple of months.

this is a really useful print i made yesterday. it's a cap for a RMS threaded microscope objective mount.
to get to an accurate print i had to use the overgrowth compensation of Z-suite on -2px. with that it's very accurate. to +-0.02mm. the thread is 36tpi and it works well. it has drainage holes. 1mm wall and infill. also from z-suite.
i tried to do it also without hollowing and i ended with a lot more of XY expansion. and contraction in Z. it was not accurate.
so..this was a good test..and Z suite is very good for mechanical things.

Chitubox Question for someone still learning the software. I've had a search through the group but couldn't find anything specific. I have found (using the file validator) some areas where I need to add supports however I am trying to get to a specific layer on chitubox- is there any way to go straight to a layer, the drag bar is really bloody inaccurate

Any thoughts on Photocentric High Tensile Resin? Supposedly less shrinkage etc. I'm after something that us less 'warpy' than normal Anycubic resin for my locomotive models. Need higher dimensional accuracy for some things.
