Meshmixer advice? Whenever I add supports and then slice (using Chitubox, because I can't get the Open Photon Slicer working) there is a gap between many of the supports and the model. The Photon File Validator complains about these gaps. I've tried setting Solid Min Offset to 0, but the gaps still exist. Is there a setting I'm missing?

I need a succinct walk through on how to cut up a file, without a 40hr training course and a dictionary of terms to learn.

First print ever, skipped anything test/demo related and cut to the chase: my application are teeth models.

Read everything and beyond while on vacation when the unopened Photon S was waiting for me to come back, sealed with kapton the borders of the screen, leveled with the printer paper sheet method, checked the FEP to be at 297Hz, room temperature just shy of 19°C, translucent green resin that everyone seems to be getting bundled with their S's, poured just a few mm's in the VAT, 0.02mm layer, 4 bottom layers at 60s and the rest at 8s, hollow model with 1mm thick walls, 3 holes on the bottom and placed a tube in meshmixer from one side to the other near the base; got reassuring plopping sound at most plate risings.

Gosh the smell! Headache and irritated nasal cavities, missus yelling at me, but the DeStinkyNator is a long-ass print and I am actually thinking about just building something with maybe wood PVC and what else. Used no gloves up to this point as I'm used to handle dangerous stuff without ever touching it, so my fingers never went on the resin, nor the resin on anything else except the vat.

Two hours print, after which I rotated the plate 90° so resin could drip back in the vat. Now the printer is resting while covered with the box it was shipped in, so no light whatsoever hits it, because sure as heck I don't plan on refilling the tank each time, even if my prints will be mostly far apart.

In the upcoming days I will get to building a handmade destinkynator, and wash/cure the model (UV strips are still on the way but I've got a weird old machine with couple Philips UV tubes inside that I can use).

I was expecting drama at the first go, and had a lot of uncertanties since I supposed I had to increase the exposure time, but all was way smoother that I thought (model included ? )

Back with more questions. In Meshmixer there's an orientation tool, does anyone have any clue what the colours/letters stand for? Three combinations S/red V/green and A/Blue.

Hi at the designers of this group. I'm looking for a way to incribe a ring with a text from a specific font? I would like to make something like the LOTR ring but with the draconic letters from D&D. Does someone have an advices? I hope someone knows a way better than doing it by hand with meshmixer.

Hello everyone, I got a model of a soldier with an attached bag on the hip, te parts don't touch between them but I can't separete them from each other. I allready try Meshmixer, but it says there's no multiple shells. The Question is: How do i detect and separate this parts?

Why can't any 3D printing/slicer software can generate a good and final auto-supports?

Let me detail it with a long text :

I'm new to 3D printing, so I'm trying to figuring out how to use auto-supports to easier print models.

I'm able to print this D&D Beholder many times without failing since it's already contains supports created by the author:

I've also printed 5 times this model, using white and transparent green resin, with different exposure times to see the final results and details.

I can print with success using 5s exposure time per layer on white resin and 3s on transparent green (failed with 1s but I will try with 2s someday)

When trying to print a baby yoda model using auto-supports, I can see there's a lot of islands that weren't supported at all. Also, in the end, it's faster and easier to manual support it by checking each layer for islands.

I've also tried a lot of softwares: Chitubox (better for me until now), B9C, Z-Suite, MeshMixer... and none of them are able to grant that the auto-generated-supports will grant a successful print.

Using Photon Validator, I can see some islands that were left behind, but why doesn't these softwares can't see these islands and fix with supports?

Anyway, I know there's a lot to learn with supports and there's a lot of users that got failed prints. A few of them aren't not by bad supports, but in the end, almost all knowledge time and efforts for a good printing is focused on supporting your model and not on the using of the printer by itself.

New type of Resin: Anycubic Grey, new exposure settings, and trying a new method to do supports on minis (Meshmixer).

Needless to say, here are 8 different minis that all failed one way or another (the pixie's lower wings snapped off...) lots of flat arm Syndrome. But the details look amazing! Not sure if I will need to adjust exposure settings or just get better at placing supports.

Layer Thickness: 0.05mm
Normal Exposure Time: 10s
Off Time: 4s
Bottom Exposure Time: 85s

Example between hollowing with Meshmixer vs Chitubox.

Meshmixer makes a very clean and smooth hollow which would need less support inside for unnecessary islands from janky geometry and without leaving random artifacts and trapped pockets all over like chitubox,

It even shows you how many hollows it made, chitubox doesnt,

BUT Meshmixer is absolutely is trash at digging holes, chitubox takes the win for its clean digging,

(note once hollowed in meshmixer it doesnt get as mad about "model NOT hollow/Too deep to Dig" compared to hollowed with its own built in tool.)
