Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » FDM

原文網址 Omar Baez

Hello all. I just purchased my first DLP printer. Been a long time user/printer with FDM. I've heard mention of a strong odor with the resin fluid. I've done some checking but I wanted to touch base with this group and see if anyone has found a resin that is low odor. My initial setup will be in the house until I get my garage set up done. Thanks for the help in advance.

Got a "simple" question. Coming from an FDM printing background (still have my trusty old prusa, it's not going anywhere), I'm curious about some supports tips and tricks.

I will use my photon mainly to print mini's for my d&d campaign, but the question/bane of my existence on the FDM side has been placement and number of supports.

I know with SLA printing the use of supports is a different animal due to the way that SLA printing works. I downloaded chitubox, and imported a model and added supports, with the base up off the build plate by a bit. Where I need help is what, in general to watch for on the support front. (i.e. this kind of geometry needs support, this doesn't)

Hey, new Photon owner and I’m trying to get the initial test print to work. It looks like the first layer failed to adhere because there was a thin film of cured resin on the bottom of the vat and nothing on the build plate.

I thought I leveled well but I’m wondering how tight the paper should fit when testing the level. I went with feeling a bit of resistance, similar to my FDM printers. Should it be tighter?

Also I saw posts about setting longer exposure times but I’m assuming exposure time is already set for the test file on the thumb drive. Is that correct?

Is resin water tight? I mean if I would print a cup, can I throw water in it without it damaging the print. Long time exposure. Will it be brittle and start leaking or something?

They say you can make water tight FDM prints. But I've not succeeded yet :P

Does it take anyone else 8 hours to prep a build file? I did a lot of manual supports, following FDM logic of "if it's hanging in space, it needs support" and it took forever going through the model after running auto supports, and even after Photon File Validator found unconnected pixels.

Anyone know a better/faster way to do supports? I'd like to make this as quick as it was to prep FDM files (a full build plate twice as large as the photon in 20 minutes).

Currently using ChiTuBox, and file validator.

Hey! Loving the Photon so far, come from a FDM background and its easy to use. 2 questions tho!
I've done 3 prints, the first 2 didn't have layer lines whereas my 3rd where I thought it would test out with some parts to compare to my FDM. Below is a picture where you can see layer lines but they are further than the 0.05 layer thickness I'm using and was wondering if this is normal or weather I need to chance the settings?
Secondly, I've seen on the posts about people using there own supports as the auto support button isn't `great' does anyone have a link to either a previous post or a link at all?

Thank you all :)

A newbie question but why do larger objects with a significantly sized flat area to print directly on the bed always pull away while orienting then away from the bed works. Should I never print directly in the bed with no supports?

Why would a larger surface area be detrimental? Sorry coming from FDM printing and it’s a bit counter intuitive?

So I am a firm believer in learning all I can about a product before I buy it. Since I am brand new to resin printing, I decided to learn all I could about that as well. YouTube videos, thumbing through this group, checking the pros and cons, the works. So, I ordered my Photon last week and got it today. I had already printed the 4" vent hose adapter and vat cover on my FDM printer and had everything set up before my printer even got here. Built a window insert for the bedroom window. Put a small computer fan in it and it works perfect. Vents the fumes outside to the point I can not smell a thing.

I ran into a few questions and decided to use the search function before I asked in open forum (which is a normal practice for me, search first, ask questions later) and as usual, the answers presented themselves. Quickly finding out that this group is a wealth of knowledge, and a few smart asses :-D

So, I have my new Photon up and running and will be printing my first print over night. Fingers crossed but I am confident this little printer is worth the money. I have been printing with FDM printers for a few years and love it, this is just the logical next step. I want to thank everyone in this group for all your help, even if you don't know you helped!

The Photon has been a great addition to my online props site. I design, print and sell 8" and 12" figure props and stuff. Since the arrival of the photon, my business has increased 1000% because of the addition of HD resin prints for small this like weapons and custom head sculpts for the figures. I sold them before but not many due the quality of the FDM printers I was using. This being said I print a lot and in different colors mostly 3 all the time. The headache was the changing of the resins between colors and the mess. I was lucky to find the other day on Ebay, Original NEW resin vats from Anycubic selling for $32. I grabbed 2. They arrived today and I'm stocked for a long printfull weekend. I also print covers for the vats to prevent stray uv light or dust to get in the resin. So I strongly suggest t get 1 or more additional vats to make our printing life easier. www.actionfigurestuff.com
