after loong loong time i wanted to start using my Photon again - the reason i didn't use it for so loong was

1. no time

2. the smell

- so for the smell i choose to try this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3681435

Printed with my FDM printer and looked good so far - but i did not like that the filter wiggles on the bayonet - so i redesignet that part - if you are interested you can find it here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3729482

this video will show you what i mean :)

oh - btw. Thank you Vinicius Silva - i hve now a better readeble screen and metwork :)

Hey Guys! Just got my Photon, had some issues with the TouchScreen not working. Checked all the cable connectors no dice. They are sending a replacement Sunday, but I look forward to joining the community. I've got a FDM printer but I'm looking forward to SLA miniature printing. If you guys have any content creators you recommend I'd love to hear it.

So does anyone know of a slicing function that does the "elephant foot" reduction on the over exposed starting layers? Something similar to that feature in FDM software.

I have a bunch of prints that go best straight on the print bed, but I don't want to have to sand everything for all that overprint in the initial layers and manually shrinking the first layers pre-slicing might be beyond my skill set.

I normally use chitubox for supports and Photon S software to slice, but I can't see anything that will do it in either.

Just ran this test. FDM vs SLA on a 28mm miniature figure. What do you think?

Looking for some recommendations for “must print” models that show off what this printer can do (vs, say, an fdm).

I guess I’m officially in a new club now. This is different than FDM but I’m liking it! Look forward to my dumb questions... :)

Another newbie joins you and is about to sign up for the Voyage of the Damned or a trip to Fantasyland, depending on the posts you read in this group :) It was a toss-up between this printer and the Elegoo Mars but it all boils down to local availability so the Photon won. To avoid repetition, I've been through the last few weeks posts here to try and learn what I can before I start. I've used FDM printers for a year or more so have some idea of the process. But that still leaves lots of space for more questions. So sorry if you've heard these before but sometimes my Google Fu doesn't work.
I've got a Photon from a UK-based Anycubic reseller and 2 litres of flesh resin in my eBay basket together with a "10Watt power/60watt UV light" UV light, 3 x 1 litre tupperware tubs with lids (IPA and water are covered), filters for the resin and some replacement FEP sheets. Already have nitrile gloves and a scraper from my Ender 3s. Oh yeah, and lots of kitchen roll and blue paper rolls for the mop up ;D
So my initial questions are :
While I think I've got all the basics covered, before I hit "checkout", is there anything I should be aware of ? I don't want to buy stuff that isn't necessary to start but want to be able to begin safely when the printer is out of the box. Seen too many newcomers in the FDM community buying upgrades before they've even tested their new printer.
2) There have been comments about keeping the UV light lower in power to allow the cure to be more constant around the model. Would the light I've chosen be okay or too much ? Not sure about how the two values: 10W power and 60W light would affect the cure time.
3) I've seen some aluminium replacement vats on sale. Does this mean the stock item is plastic ? Is it a weak point of the printer and should be replaced earlier rather than when it finally wears out ?
There may be more questions coming but thanks for any input you can offer. 翻譯年糕

I broke down and bought the photon. It gets here Tuesday. What can you inform a new user before it shows up? Ive been using a FDM for a few years now. Excited to see what I can do with resin.

Still trying to wrap my head around part orientation & supports. In FDM world, I'd clearly print all of these parts with their largest flat surfaces on the bed, little or no support needed. (It's my remix, so those are actually my original FDM print photos) Suggestions & why you'd do it the way you suggest?

Also, if I print the main body in clear resin & cure in a UV chamber, is it OK to make it solid to keep some weight in it? I know it's a lot of resin, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make in this case. (Letters will be AC Maroon)

Thanks in advance for any advice & wisdom...

This is an interesting one.
Ages ago I was amazed by the quality of the Makerbot 3D printers but they were a way too expensive. Yesterday I tried to print with my Photon S and grey resin the famous Makerbolt sample.
The print came out beautifully but there is a slightly mismatch between the measurement and fitting between the fdm and resin version.
I was clearly expecting the tolerance to be different but here’s the interesting part. the resin version doesn’t fit together! Check out these images: you can see the difference in sizes but funny enough the fdm nut does fit the resin bolt! so it looks like. What’s going on here?

In the images the white and orange are the fdm makerbolt and the grey are the resin one

Any advice here? Thanks!
