Looking to buy my first resin printer.
What color windows is the current model Anycubic Photon? Also what color resin is recommended (I like the clear)?

I currently own a FDM printrbot simple metal.

SLA vs FDM
Only my second print with the Photon (first print after the testcube). Love this machine already!

I've been 3D printing with fdm printer for almost 3 years now and am finally thinking of upgrading to a Photon. I was just wondering whether anyone had any advice before purchasing.
Things like Necessary mods or Products i need to buy to go along with the printer. i want to make sure if i get one im going to get the best out of it.

Hello people of the resin printing world. I am a new traveler to this land. :) Been running FDM machines for years and took the leap into resin with the photon. So far 2 prints down (including the cube that comes with it). Enough to learn I have stuff to learn. is there any guideline for creating your own supports outside of the photon software? (length vs diameter, spacing, what angles need support ect)?

Also already learned the hard way, do not clean FEP with IPA. Any other common pitfalls I should worry about?

Printed and painted this miniature. Truth be told it is a little larger than a miniature (about 80mm tall).

I think I shared this earlier but it is complete now.

The cool think is the pictures that turned out the best are the ones where I used the lights from my FDM printer.

First 2 prints successful! ( well true first was fail due to user error). Now I can add some detail to the wheel which was a waste of time on fdm. Cube was printed at default settings, but I could not find a date on the bottle.

Hello printers!
I have a question about a setting for the exposure time of the first layers. So as far as I know you set the duration of exposure for the first few layers, then the exposure is shortened for all following layers.
Now, I have seen numerous posts on here by people who have printed their parts directly on the build plate, without supports, mentioning a clearly visible border of where the switch from long to short exposure happened. Mostly the suggested solution for this is to print with supports and the part lifted off the bed. But I have another idea and would like to know if you think it could work or if it may even already be implemented in some slicers.
In Slicers like Cura for FDM printing, print speed can be gradually increased from a slow speed at the first layer to faster speeds thereafter. I wonder if a similar approach would also help with DLP printers like the photon. Choosing long exposure for the first one or two layers and then a gradual decrease until the following short duration is reached. For example:
Layer 1 - 50s, 2 - 50s, 3 - 40s, 4 - 30s, 5 - 20s, 6 - 10s... n - 6s
Do you guys think this could work? Is this already a function that I can find in some slicers? Am I trying to reinvent the wheel and making a fool of myself? I'd very much value all your input.
Thanks a lot :)

Long time FDM user, first time DLP/LCD user. My first print last night had issues, but "pretty sure" that it was due to user (my) error, unintentional/accidental bumping of printer while printing, although very very slight, that I thought wouldn't be an issue. I have tentatively determined that the slight vibration was the cause of issues as they occurred around the time where the errors, "shift in layers" can be seen. So, I have since moved printer to "MORE SOLID" table, cleaned the vat and restarted included test print a few minutes ago.

INITIAL THOUGHTS in general.

I love the build quality, good value for the money. I was a little concerned about the fumes that some have talked about, but actually not that bad... I have to really smell for it to notice.

I was very MUCH CONCERNED about how almost everyone said it was MESSY to work with.

I did not feel that way, as I was prepared with a clean work area, gloves, Isopropyl alcohol, scraper, tubs etc.

To be honest, if you are prepared and know what you need to do in advance, to tell someone it is a "messy" process is not and accurate statement in my opinion.

Sure you need to be neat, and clean as you go, but I found it very easy and smooth, and no mess at all. Not sure why all those Youtube videos are saying that is a messy process?

I am pleasantly surprised that it wasn't a (messy) issue for me. Just be prepared and move slowly and deliberately, no mess just steps that are different than those with FDM..

I guess if you spill the resin, get resin on your gloves then touch something other than a rag that is going right into the garbage, then yes that would be messy, but that is operator sloppiness.

So, if the cube prints properly this time, I will be 125% satisfied with this machine and the resin printing process as a whole.
