Oleksandr Panforov

They charge around $12+ per litre around me. Which is kinda expensive, considering it was around $2 in February

Gerhard Wilkens
2020-04-01 22:09:11

Yes I know, free market is totally shit sometimes. Imagine you would always need to live with these prices for cheap products (insulin for example)

Did you report them to Amazon for "price gouging"?

Michael Hockenbarger
2020-04-01 23:34:17

Maybe we should ban people who complain about IPA posts instead. I know it would make me happier. Something new seems to pop up every single time.

Price gauging in the US is against the law during this crisis. I have turned in a few listings to Amazon and they disappeared.

Bob Deblier
2020-04-01 23:43:08

Jarrod Richards
2020-04-02 05:29:35

Michael Alexander Caddick
2020-04-02 05:35:33

Amazon sellers (just like ebay ones) pay a commission to the platform. That commission is based off the value of the goods being sold. At the moment its 1.80 referral fee plus 15% of the item price.

Jarrod Richards
2020-04-02 05:36:27

Michael Alexander Caddick Amazon is being charged fines for price gouging. It doesn’t matter what percent when every instance is 10 grand.

Jarrod Richards
2020-04-02 05:37:02

Also, price gouging is a federal crime. Report them and the listers will be prosecuted

print it up-right

Joe Cahill
2020-04-01 21:52:08

The best advice I got with supports was to use the Prusa Slicer Software. Import your part then right click it and select “optimize orientation” once that is done add supports within prusa at 50% or more. Then “file” “export build plate with supports” exports it as a STL file. Import that file back into chitubox and print away! You can also use the photon validation software after slicing with chitubox to better increase a successful print (Sorry for the long reply, I have not had issues since I switched to this method)

I guess you can sit it in the sun for a day, then let it settle for a week, then pour it off through a coffee filter?

Thomas Holm
2020-04-01 21:47:25

Question: for how long do you use it? I use it in the Wash'n'Cure bucket and it is getting decidedly murky. But it still removes the resin.

Kevin Lems
2020-04-01 21:58:09

Thomas Holm I've used it for a few months. Haven't used my photon and cleaner for a while now so can't really advise you on how long you can use it. But there is a lot of resin in my cleaner and I'm going to clean it all first so I can make a fresh start ?

Kevin Lems
2020-04-01 21:59:38

Ben Johnston but where do you store it in for a week. I've been thinking of putting it in a plastic 2L soda bottle but I don't really trust the resin in a plastic bottle ?

Ben Johnston
2020-04-01 22:02:35

I keep mine in a really well seal kitchen storage container (Sistema, but the more expensive Brilliance ones). Its good quality polycarb/HDPE, its fine for resin etc. It seals all the way around the top

Nipuna Gunarathne yes. the underside and the bottom legs are loaded with heavy supports

Orlando Von Lowenstein
2020-04-01 20:51:14

Also it's holowed out and it has a drain hole

Scott Pavlich
2020-04-01 21:03:11

Stefan Giudici
2020-04-01 21:08:45

Great, bottom being on plate side, rather than the vat side, right? I get nervous when people say drain hole instead of vent hole, usually suggests they are putting it on the wrong side!

Orlando Von Lowenstein
2020-04-01 21:09:25

On the vat side

Annibale Varico

Yup. I hope i cand stop just at one.

Orlando Von Lowenstein
2020-04-01 21:13:35

Do i also need a vent hole? The drain hole is 2mm.
I think it will drain ok.

Orlando Von Lowenstein
2020-04-01 21:17:27

Annibale Varico sorry to hear that. People are suffering here too. We are on lockdown too.
I hope we'l all get to the other side safe.

Jeremy James Rutherford
2020-04-01 21:39:08

Orlando Von Lowenstein They should be the same hole, on the build plate side of the model. It prevents the model from suctioning to the fep, and then the resin can be drained after the model is finished.

Orlando Von Lowenstein
2020-04-01 21:40:20

Jeremy James Rutherford the model does not touch the vat. It's all supported

Jeremy James Rutherford
2020-04-01 21:41:23

umorismo macabro, the last laugh before death.

Francisco Quesada
2020-04-01 21:56:05

You might want to Edit some of those support and 1) consolidate them to save resin 2) some are really close to the model and might stick.

If you don't know how to edit, check out this video:

https://youtu.be/tECIg12koSk

Orlando Von Lowenstein
2020-04-01 22:04:44

Thomas Holm i hope not

Neither do I. Memento mori et carpe diem.

Thomas Holm
2020-04-01 22:06:43

And btw, would love a copy of that supported file, now that you have done all the work. Yes, I know, shameless begging ... ;)

Orlando Von Lowenstein
2020-04-01 22:07:57

If it prints ok i'l share. We'l see in about 6 hours

Kevin J. Zhang
2020-04-01 23:51:03

Make sure you hollow it, otherwise the "body" would look dark green instead of transparent. It would save you resin, and reduce the suction during printing.

Stefan Ritchie
2020-04-02 05:07:46

It won't survive the IPA

2020-04-02 21:11:15

supported in chitubox?
repair the stl before you bring it to photon workshop

Orlando Von Lowenstein
2020-04-02 21:13:47

Nipuna Gunarathne yes supported in chitubox and sliced in photon workshop. The .stl looks good.

Nipuna Gunarathne
2020-04-02 21:14:48

yes yes this happens to almost every new user. it looks good but there're inverted normals. run it through a repair program like netfabb service

Chris Moody
2020-04-01 20:04:25

Lorenz Nijs
2020-04-01 20:11:31

Supports around the failed area probably not good enough to combat the suction from the fep.

Can happen if you have large areas that need printing in one layer, they stick to the fep really hard, and it might damage supports on a piece that's on the same layer

Chris Moody
2020-04-01 20:12:41

So I mainly used light supports, shall I replace most of them with Mid / Heavy? Could that help?

Lorenz Nijs
2020-04-01 20:14:11

Could definitely help yes. Could also be bed leveling but considering the rest printed fine and seeing what else was on your plate, it seems reasonable that's it's just the supports that aren't up to it.

Chris Moody
2020-04-01 20:14:58

Lorenz Nijs perfect, I will ajust them asap :)

Luke Mason
2020-04-01 20:15:51

Mercy?

Lorenz Nijs
2020-04-01 20:17:02

Chris Moody could also be exposure in combination with what I said... ?

A lot of it is trial and error.. If bigger supports don't work, try the exposure. Not familiar with this resin, so wouldn't know if your settings are good for it.

Chris Moody
2020-04-01 20:31:28

si

Chris Moody

Chris Moody
2020-04-01 22:54:28

next try starts printing soon :) Made heavier supports

Lorenz Nijs
2020-04-01 23:24:11

FYI was having the same problem with a model, today i tried the exposure route by upping it with 0.75 seconds and now it seems to continue on great on the part it failed the last couple of days.

Robert Nisson no. its like gum. It sticks parts together. Then you remove it.

Robert Nisson
2020-04-01 22:17:41

Giannis Kon hmm so it's just to hold it together so you can glue it?

Robert Nisson

Giannis Kon
2020-04-01 22:22:29

Robert Nisson no it hold together part but it doesn't help you with the glue. It's just to see a model or fix the pose of the model. Then you remove it and glue it together. This stuff is suposed to stick posters and stuff like that. Many Modellers use it for this purpose.

Joe Kirkus

Giannis Kon I found an Abaddon remix of it, which I then changed out the head, cut off the mace, mirrored the mace arm, and covered up the chaos Star and took off the shoulder stars.

The chainsword is actually two smashed together and enlarged.
