WARNING. I had the following issue, which I think it can be a bug in version 4.2.18.
1- I switch Photon on and start a new printing.
2- I decide to STOP (not pause) the printing before the platform touches the resin to start the first layer. So it’s well above level 0.
3- After a few seconds (around 20 if I remember well), I start to print the same job from scratch. Note: I have not moved the platform at any moment using the menu.
4- Then, the platform starts going down but surprisingly forces the FLEP producing a horrible noise. It’s trying to go beyond level-0!!!
5- I stop the print immediately, lift the platform, peel the tiny printed layer from the resin container and switch it off
6- I switch it on and start the print. The printer seems to have “recalibrated” automatically.

I’m worried that those few seconds forcing the flep have done something bad. The current printing seems to be going well but I’ll check the final result in a few hours.

Anyone experienced this serious issue? Did I make any horrible mistake? Pressing STOP and starting the same print is not so crazy after all. I did not do anything else before or between. Just the steps described above

I was all set to pull the trigger on the photon, but I hear they switched out the chitubox motherboard and now I have to use anycubic's proprietary slicer software, which apparently is terrible. Is this true? I cant use chitubox? Has a fix been developed?

A lot of people in this group have become very anti-fauxton, when it seemed the original was the better choice. Is that because they're upset they have to re-slice all their STLs? As a brand new user, should this motherboard change bother me?

So due to the anycubic backlash, I'm now looking at the Mars, but I'm having trouble changing my bias because I've spent so long researching the photon which used to get better reviews. Is the mars now better than the fauxton, or at least comparable? I dont love how the whole cover pulls off and how the USB port is on the back for some reason. But I can look past it, if it's the more reliable easy to use machine with better software compatibility.

The mars is $20 more than the photon on amazon.ca right now. My understanding is that usually the mars is cheaper. But both prices are good right now on sale ($339 cdn vs $359 cdn for the Mars).

So from those who have used/owned both, which way should I go? Is there anything else I should consider? Is the community support for the mars comparable to the photon? I'd like to pull the trigger during this sale which I'm guessing will end after cyber Monday.

Having fun with numbers. ;) I found a way to make it easier to track monsters in my RPG campaigns. My gaming buddies love it. I added some shrunk down numbers from thingiverse, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1658701 . I glue them on post print because it's quick and easy. Thought I'd share.

Hi everyone. I have a favour to ask. does anyone know what this is on my print bed? it appeared after about 2 moths of printing and is slightly raised up so I can't print anything anymore. from what it looks like, I wonder if the LCD has overheated in this spot and caused the screen glass to crack and melt. Not sure if I have warranty left but will be checking that shortly. Thanks in advance for your response and superior knowledge.
