Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團

Ok, trying my first big print. have some questions -

Open in prusaslicer - right click - optimize orientation. Done

Add supports - i seem only to be able to auto add support in prusaslicer by slicing, which then makes an SL1 file, which chitubox can't open.

What am i doing wrong?

You need to export the file with supports and it will create a new stl file. Open that in slicer of choice.

Charles Lease
2020-03-23 22:11:53

i can only export as a *.sl1 file, which chitubox can't open.

Paul Soucy
2020-03-23 22:12:39

Export as stl with supports

Alex Rallis
2020-03-23 22:13:10

Charles Lease under file there is a export with supports choice

Charles Lease
2020-03-23 22:13:56

export with supports is grayed out. and no supports show on the model. but pad/supports show on the right...

Charles Lease
2020-03-23 22:14:51

Alex Rallis
2020-03-23 22:14:59

I believe once you have supports showing the choice will be available.

罗西晟
2020-03-23 22:15:06

When in Prusaslicer, select what you want to Support, then on the left at the bottom you can select supports.
You can auto support or add manually. remember to select apply if you do manually.

Then the supports should be visible, you can choose file -> export -> export plate with support.

罗西晟
2020-03-23 22:15:26

Charles Lease there are no supports added yet.

the supports are not yet on your model

Charles Lease
2020-03-23 22:17:15

this communit is the best! it was slicing to create supports and i was impatient/didn't see the processing bar. took it only like 5s...guess too much coffee this morning...

Any one have settings for this resin? Have tried several times and get failed prints. Doesnt stick to the build plate easily. What does get cured during the print attempt seems to cure nicely.

Photocentric printers use different wavelength resin

Foy Justice
2020-03-23 22:10:20

Ethan Brown I have seen one chart for same brand clear listing higher exposure times. Like 100 base and 30+ build. Imagine that would shorten my screen life.

TJ Robichaux
2020-03-23 22:13:12

I bought some a few years ago and had a lot of trouble with it. I finally got it working using very high cure times. Like 60-70 second base and 40-50 second layer times. I never bought it again but once I got it printing it made decent quality models and they did have good "flex".

Ethan Brown
2020-03-23 22:13:44

yeah it will take very long times to cure it on a photon. And will burn your lcd out faster

罗西晟
2020-03-23 22:22:33

Hmmm I wonder if it would be worth mixing a little bit of this (say 10%) with elegoo or anycubic to make that a bit more impact resistant....

Sirayatech isn't easily available for me it seems, as is monocure... I get tons of Photocentric hits though.

TJ Robichaux
2020-03-23 22:24:00

Xi-Sheng Luo I did that after about half my bottle was gone. I started adding about 10% to my regular resin. It didnt impact the regular resin cure times that I recall but it did make those prints more resistant to breaking.

Yusuf M. Saatci
2020-03-23 22:27:32

have the exact same resin. did not have time to try it yet.

Foy Justice
2020-03-23 22:29:32

Ethan Brown Im going to have to get another printer it seems lol. Its an interesting material. Smokey quarts like clear and flexibility is in between skate board wheel and gummy bear. Thanks for the info Ethan.

Ethan Brown
2020-03-23 22:31:09

you can buy other resins that are the same property and will print on photon... probably cheaper than photocentric too

Foy Justice
2020-03-23 22:34:21

I have some pour off that I do intend as mixed. Siraya hard clear blue and some Siraya standard grey as well as some Photocentric hard white. The hard white prints just fine.

Foy Justice
2020-03-23 22:35:51

Ethan Brown I will be looking for those. Ty for the heads up ,')

TJ Robichaux
2020-03-23 22:36:18

Foy Justice mine was gray. If it matters.

Ethan Brown
2020-03-23 22:36:57

phrozen and Siraya both have these resins

Foy Justice
2020-03-23 22:37:26

TJ Robichaux Perhaps. Lighter colours and shades do print less cure time I believe im understanding.

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 01:24:45

Yusuf M. Saatci It seems doable but at risk of screen life. As reading in other replies use it as an additive in easier to print resins on photon or other lcd type printers.

Yusuf M. Saatci
2020-03-24 01:41:58

what does it do? Drop off the plate turn sideways and crash the screen?

Stefan Giudici
2020-03-24 01:45:37

The worst resin.

Yusuf M. Saatci
2020-03-24 01:46:12

Ahaha I paid a fortune on that one!

Stefan Giudici
2020-03-24 01:46:40

Yusuf M. Saatci should ask before you spend the money, it's unusable its so bad

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 01:53:25

Sounds like it would work with high exposure times. But thats going to burn out the screen quickly.

Yusuf M. Saatci
2020-03-24 01:54:05

I see....

David Hargrove
2020-03-24 01:56:18

It's a trap.

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 02:54:22

David Hargrove It is very thick and tacky. Would probably trap mice lol

Alexander Bayerdorffer
2020-03-24 02:55:49

Are you running heater on your printer. Flex resins usually need at least 25C

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 02:59:43

Alexander Bayerdorffer Am not no. Lil chilly here in Mn. Do try to run a space heater in the room. I have tried setting the bottle in warm water before printing as well. Didnt do any temp checking/not very scientific I know. Think proper temp would remedy the long exposure times?

Alexander Bayerdorffer
2020-03-24 03:08:51

No exposure times are exposure times that doesn't change. but you are better off running like a tenacious or flex 100 as they have known values needed etc. Not to mention way less time required. People above mentioned the different wavelegth so that's really gonna be bugger to try and over come

Jarrod Smith
2020-03-24 03:23:59

I have never heard a good word about this resin from someone who used it.

Brklyn Brklyn
2020-03-24 03:25:59

can this be mixed with normal resin to make a semi-flexable print?

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 03:44:05

Brklyn Brklyn It would not be fully cured, but then a again we cure our prints afterwards. Ill be testing it soon

Jarrod Richards
2020-03-24 04:04:05

What’s your bottom time set to? Maybe raise the print with supports, set a nice high bottom time, and let the rest of it cure normally?

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 04:10:15

Jarrod Richards Did try that. Supports printed fair. But no object. Maybe a tad more exposure time for the object. Believe I did object at 18.

Jarrod Richards
2020-03-24 04:14:59

Foy Justice can’t hurt, up it to 20 see what it does lol

Ted Killeen
2020-03-24 04:57:38

Monocure states that their flex 100 can be mixed with other resins to reduce brittleness and their flex takes considerably longer to print due to longer exposure times. Haven't tried it yet - still waiting for it to arrive.

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 07:00:50

Have a print I will be pulling off in the next hour. Its a mix of the flexible mentioned and the Siraya tech hard blue. 6 Layer base at 45s, object at 16s.

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 08:44:36

Cant show the actual print cause its on lock down. How ever it did print and cure good. The supports in the vid are fully cured. I would say it has a tad more flex. Base 6 layers at 45, object at 16, 0.05 layer height, resin temp at 72f. 5-10% photocentric transparent black flexible resin 90-95% clear blue hard siraya tech. Ill print a showable print now. Ty for all the info group. Hope this contributes.

Fran Ce
2020-03-24 09:16:53

Photocentric resin is for daylight printers, doesn’t cure with uv light

Foy Justice
2020-03-24 09:30:05

It was jelly of the build plate. After the Uv it hardened to what is shown. What is meant by daylight? Uv light is what?

Ryan Cook
2020-03-25 00:58:51

What you want is Flex100, and used as an additive to your regular resin.

Hugh Jeriolas
2020-03-24 06:05:09

No. Photon and photon s use different lcds. You can however use the x1 screen. Which is around $20

Paul Oliveira
2020-03-24 07:06:40

Hugh Jeriolas no they don't I'm printing right now

Paul Oliveira

I have the new photon which uses the same LCD

Hugh Jeriolas
2020-03-24 07:08:13

Paul Oliveira well I guess I am wrong. I know that a photon screen doesn’t work on an S. Figured it would be that way vice versa

Paul Oliveira
2020-03-24 07:09:01

Maybe the older photon models

Hugh Jeriolas

Measure them and order replacements, they're standard metric sizes. Probably M3

Pierre Eichel
2020-03-23 22:13:46

Aren't there spear screws in the box?

Al Espina
2020-03-23 22:33:08

didn't find any.

Pierre Eichel
2020-03-23 22:40:22

Al Espina they are standard metric countersink screws. Measure the diameter, I think it's 3 or 4 mm - so it is M3 or M4 and then measure the length, I think it's 8 mm or something so it's... M3x8 or M4x8 or whatever the length is. I hope you get it ?

Rick Hanson
2020-03-24 00:32:13

Ouch, that's expensive. The newer plastic Elegoo vats work great in the Photon, come in a two-pack, and you can still replace the FEP on these ones (unlike the first ones they released).

https://www.amazon.com/ELEGOO-Plastic....../dp/B08345Q9BP

Gary Slovinsky
2020-03-24 06:42:56

Rick Hanson when I bought my elegoo resin tanks back in November they were 4 tanks for $30 (around that).

3D Printer with 4... $29.99
Qty: 1
Sold By: ELEGOO

Apparently just copying my old order page cuts out some details. But it was 4 tanks for $30.

Combination of the tight space between & less fep tension

Josh Dalgliesh
2020-03-23 20:07:06

So I find this sort of issue can happen if you edit the stl in one program, save it off as an stl and then import into another program for slicing. It's not an always thing, only occasional. I'd try re-slicing

Chris Wolfe
2020-03-24 06:29:28

2 things to check:

There is a firmware that can cause this. Not every time tho. Search in here for it and there should be the firmware number listed that causes it.

Also ive had a similar issue with a broken model. Ie when i use chitu to do anything it breaks the mesh and needs to be repaired after.

Bernardy L
2020-03-24 15:03:43

yes, this issue are running my resin out

Bernardy L
2020-03-24 15:04:02

thanks, finally i know what this is called, found the solution

Bernardy L
2020-03-24 15:04:09

and the firmware

Bernardy L
2020-03-24 15:04:50

tried this using chitu slicer, shearing still happen

Bernardy L
2020-03-24 15:05:23

thanks, firmware is the issue

Bernardy L
2020-03-24 15:08:31

so guys after searching about this shearing problem, i've found the problem was the firmware. the standard firmware that comes with photon is glitchy, use firmware v4.2.18
here s the link for downloading the firmware https://github.com/....../anycubi....../tree/master/firmware

and dont use the newest v4.2.19, it also got same glitch

What are the cause of these layer lines cracking?

0.5 mm hollow thickness.

Is it because the wall is too thin?

翻譯年糕

Fred Bey
2020-03-23 19:29:53

If you didn't add vent and drain holes, it's from the uncured resin inside the model off gassing and making the model crack from the pressure.

If it's vented properly, delamination is usually a sign of under exposure.

Gustaf Sjögren
2020-03-23 19:29:54

Hi! It looks like they might be caused by suction pressure.

If you print an enclosed space in a print, the suction acts a lot like a suction cup, causing a lot of pressure on the sides around enclosed space.

You need to add a hole to relieved pressure or not print hollowed..

John Simpson
2020-03-23 19:34:51

I get this on hollowed prints that I either didn’t clean properly or my drain holes were too small. Unset resin expanding at a different rate?

Shane Rozzell
2020-03-23 19:57:07

I think a mix of wall thickness and no holes for uncurled resin to escape.

Stefan Giudici
2020-03-23 20:42:14

Hollow and no vent holes?

Greg Kourakos
2020-03-23 20:56:23

resin inside. Don't even bother to hollow something that small, not worth it..

Hey I was hoping to get some advice on what could be causing the pictured issue. It seems the last layers (the frame/handrails of the bridge) are being pulled away from the model each time I print. I have minimal issues with other, smaller prints. To try to resolve the issue, in the second print I built in additional supports (thin blocks) to the model itself (not in the slicer). This allowed me to cut away the warped supports and left the model looking good, but I would like to understand what I’m doing wrong to cause this. Any thoughts?

Its unsupported. thats why. You need to anchor the end

Joel Ross-Sampson
2020-03-24 12:55:25

I can see that now, thanks for pointing out! Having said that, the first print (first photo) did not have this unsupported part, just the beams which were all connected to itself and was still pulled apart?
