I have an atom 2.5 ex 3d printer and started printing dual filaments. I'm having a problem that it keeps clogging up everytime midprint. Do you know why that is? Below is a picture of what the filament looks like at the hot end when I've taken it out. Its does this all the time. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

I have used simplify 3d settings as previously linked here: https://drive.google.com/....../1hV......

What filaments are you using? Is it just two different color PLAs?

Check you PTFE tube length?
Try follow the step:

你的管子沒有突出結合器,所以回抽時軟化PLA就卡住在噴頭固定螺絲與結合器之間

What filaments, what temperature and printing speed?
Also what slicer are you using?

Yes just 2 different colour PLA at 200C

Both PLA, 200deg C, print speed is 40mm/s and slicer is simplify 3D, I've been trying to use the latest cura but havent got the settings to work nicely

Feeding fresh filament, do both sides of your junction insert and retract without issue? Do this manually. It should slide in and out without binding or obstruction.

You identified the problem yourself when you said "It does this every time." That is exactly what I encountered. From what I can tell the jams result from the fact that melted filament has a viscosity that always leaves a fine trail of filament behind when it is retracted. Over time this builds up and clogs the nozzle. The only way I could reliably fix this was to completely disassemble the nozzle and burn out the clog with a propane torch.

I think the only way to reliable do multi-filament printing is with one nozzle for each filament. There was a guy named Jensen Huang working on this - but he seems to have disappeared. Here is his FB page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/150457119076159/

Did you set Simplify to pull up to 120 m"m when switching filaments? also what is the retract speed?

120mm @ 40mm/s

I've got it as smooth as I can, I've pushed the PTFE tubes from the hot end and from the feed together and now going to try it now

I have checked the PTFE tube length and it is 35.5mm as per spec. We were given PTFE lube when we got our printer, when did we need to use that?

You are seeing the stringing. So there could be an issue with that too.

does that mean i should try print at a lower temp? have you got yours to work with dual printing? Im trying to print the tree frog

I haven't messed with it, but maybe 190C might get you where you need to be. Or a longer retraction distance/speed might snap it free.
