Ok so what am i doing wrong lol. I feel like im so close but keep having this issue where the areas facing the build plate with most supports come out all messed up and blobby with extra cured resin and no detail. Parts facing into the vat are good. Been using prusa slicer mainly for supports on bigger things, Included is a couple of supports pics. Dwarf was tilted back about 10deg. Monocure rapid grey and clear both same results. Please Help!

Take me to your leader!

Aliens printed in Hero dark green resin! The small one is about 25mm tall (S-scale 1:64) and the big one is 70mm tall (G-scale 1:22.5). The bigger alien is the largest thing I've printed so far!

Settings: 0.05mm layer, 10s exposure, 8 bottom layers, 70s bottom layer exposure. Used PrusaSlicer auto-orientation and auto supports. Sliced in ChituBox. Printed on AnyCubic Photon (the original).

I’m looking for some advice from within the collective wisdom here.

I recently changed resin to Elegoo transparent blue and my first couple of prints haven’t gone so well. Originally, I was using the Anycubic transparent green resin without issue and with great results. But I’ve been less successful with the new resin.

First time around I put it down to the source file and how I had the item on the plate in the slicer. However, with a different model using support, I noticed some issues that could explain what went wrong the first time around.

I supported and sliced the model using ChituBox. I’ve attached photos of the supports and the print (the first three pictures). As you can see the supports have all merged into one big raft such that they will be impossible to remove. Furthermore, the raft was very difficult to remove from the plate when the print completed - I almost had to chisel it off.

I’ve prepared new print using Prusa Slicer as a test (see the last photo), but I suspect my problem is with my exposure times for the different resin.

The settings I am used for the Elegoo transparent blue are 16s exposure time, 8 bottom layers and 60s bottom exposure time. These are based on exposure data Google Sheet from Photonsters and are different from what I had been using for the Anycubic green.

My question is, are my exposure setting off or is it something else?

Recommendations or suggestions appreciated.

Would someone be willing to test out a file I have sliced to see if it will print? I am using Monocure Clear and it seems like the supports are failing. I have troubleshot everything environmentally I can think to check multiple times. I have upped the cure times and lowered them. So now, with the way things are, I am reaching out to the community to see if they experience the same issues I do or not.

Tl;dr If you can print the file successfully then I really have no idea at this point why my prints fail. Thank you for your time and help.

Good morning all,

I just printed tis miniature and the base came out a little warped. The edges and underside look like they got hot for the lack of a better description.

Would this simply be a lack of support issue? The rest of the print is great.

The supports were done in Prusa Slicer then printed from ChiTuBox. I included a picture of the support setup at the base.

Thanks for any advice.

Nick , wtf? The red circles show tips that have no columns, and the purple circle shows a support column that goes nowhere!
I was trying to give Prusa slicer another chance at auto-supports, but.....HELP!

So I had a rather full build plate (10 off the same item) and thought I would try reducing the Prusa Slicer supports from penetration and ball diameter 0.4 to 0.25. Complete failure every single instance ripped off the supports. Supports look nice though. Looks like I'll try 0.4 again.

I did it, finally got all 5 resins to print my test file and a mini tower test print. The tower was printed to see how brittle or flexible a resin was by trying to bend it in half. I will be rating the resin for the smell/fumes on a 1-10 scale, 1 is equivalent to water and 10 being equivalent to fabric dope(respirator required it, and use in a different building then where you live). All settings were community provided, so they were either on the spreadsheet or from a photo someone posted in the group. My observations of the different resins follows the photo, left to right.

Anycubic Eco Blue:
The smell/fumes are a 4.
With the settings I was using it didn’t like any supports except Prusaslicer supports. This was the most brittle resin I used in this test, I barely attempted to bend the tower and it snapped.

Elegoo Green:
The smell/fumes are a 4.5.
This worked almost perfectly for me, the best quality print with the settings I had. This resin has some flex, I would say it is a “default” flexible as it was the same as others.

Hero Resin Grey:
The smell/fumes are a 3, the lowest in this test.
Had an issues with Chitubox light supports, but every other support test went well. This was surprisingly the most flexible of all.

Anycubic Green
The smell/fumes are a 5.
This was a unremarkable resin, worked as expected. It was as flexible as the Elegoo resin.

Siraya Blu,
The smell/fumes are 7. This was the only resin I considered getting my respirator out for.
This was a picky resin, I had to wait until a warmer day to successfully print with it. While this was as flexible as the Eco blue, it took way more effort to bend than any other resin.

Questions, suggestions or comments?
