ELEGOO sent over some of their water soluble resin for me to try. I really like the gray color. What makes this really nice, is some soapy water can be added to my ultrasonic cleaner, and then run, and that cleans off the resin. It looks great after that. I then run it under running water to get the soap off. It seems to be just as clean as after I run regular resins through IPA in my ultrasonic cleaner

It's a little more brittle than I prefer. I really like their blue and the Siraya Tech gray that I have used for miniatures. They have a little more give, and don't pit the surface as bad. It just cures hard. I did find staves and more delicate pieces have some give, an don't just snap, so that is good.

Here are the first round of figures I printed last night from the Dice Head Patreon ( http://3dmkf.com/Patreon-DiceHeads )

You can see that it prints and cleans up very well.

The price will be: $24.99 500ml / $44.99 1000ml

Yet another IPA question, sorry. I know it’s dicey to heat IPA in an ultrasonic cleaner because the fumes could potentially ignite. But how about non heated? Is it safe?

Heads up for the Canadian members, Costco's price on 99% IPA is crazy cheap. I bought the exact same item on Amazon for $39! It is getting hard to find 99% anymore, SDM is something like $7-8 for one 500mL bottle.

First pic is of my curing "station", I had a print today that I didn't very carefully wash, only wiped it with a cloth with some ipa, sun-cured it for a few hours and it was still sticky. Put it in a bag with 100% ipa. A second print of the same object came off the plate directly into a bag with 100% ipa. Rinsy-rinsy. Ok, 2 hours later, the first one was.. normal, fine, i don't think it changed at all. It was already cured. But the second? It seems as though the resin which was rinsed into the ipa turned into smegma. It looks like something out of ghostbusters. Wha happen?

Does anyone rinse a print in water after the standard 2 IPA baths or just let it dry and cure?

Hello new friends,

I've recently taken delivery of a shiny new Photon printer. Last night I set the printer up, thoroughly cleaned everything with IPA, levelled my build plate (paper method), filled with the "Eco Resin" that was included with the unit and attempted to print the test print on the included USB thumb drive.

As you can see from the image, the print failed. :(

After some googling and reading ( https://l3d.ie/2018/06/29/dlp-3d-printing-troubleshooting/ + this facebook group), I think the culprit is exposure time too low. I realise now I should've opened the test print in ChiTuBox or Photon Slicer and configured with different exposure settings to suit the "Eco Resin" that was supplied with the unit, instead of trusting the defaults...

Is this likely the only issue? Being a first timer I'm not sure...

I will consult the big resin settings spreadsheet, and possibly download and try this: https://github.com/altLab/photon-resin-calibration

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Kind regards,

Mike Nye

Just trying to get some recommendations on what I should use to clean the prints here in Australia, access to IPA isn’t as easy as it is in the states. I’ve heard that using methylated sprits is fine but wanted to check in the with hive mind before I go out and buy all my extra stuff for my first print

Soon be Photon S owner here and first time printer (waiting for delivery of the printer now).

Looking for any tips you lovely people have in regards to cleaning your prints.

Im looking to get good results with as little work/mess as possible, dont mind spending some money buying an ultrasonic cleaner or what ever I might need.

How do you guys do it? Two stage IPA clean? Ultrasonic cleaner with IPA? Ultrasonic cleaner with detergent? All of the above or none of them?

Greatly appreciate any tips you guys might have!
