Help, please... Newbie user, trying the first default cube print on Photon. Followed the instructions for setting Z=0 with the sheet of printer paper, left everything else on the defaults but tried twice now and get nothing attached to the build plate. However, I now have this pattern on the FEP sheet.... it feels about 0,5mm thick. My questions are
1) what am I doing wrong; what can I try , to get prints printing ?
2) what do I do with the resin on the FEP? Do I scrape it off somehow? Do I have to bin the FEP sheet ; could this be screwing up my prints ?

Thanks in advance

Had my photon for a few months, but never actually done an exposure test :/
I know :(

So last night I ran the X3mSnake exposure test.

To be completely honest, I'm pretty lost with it.

I ran resin-test-50u.B100.2-20.photon and the result is the attached photo.
I followed the instructions, set my exposure, then printed the AmeraLabs Town test, but came out horrendously overexposed.
So despite following what I thought were idiotproof instructions, I still manage to mess up :(

I had 10 marked as the sweetspot.
So with that, I set the exposure to 20 for the AmeraLabs test, but as I say, horrendously overexposed.
When I set it to 20, I was thinking "Seems a bit high, but this bit of resin can't be wrong can it? I'll go along with that!"

After the first town test was over exposed I brought it down a bit. Reprinted. Oh. Nothing on the build plate at the end. Maybe I somehow had cured resin in the vat.
Cleaned the vat out, set it away again. Nope. Nothing on the build plate again.

Although, looking back at the X2MSnake test again, I definitely feel that I messed up.
Am I right in now thinking that 7 is the sweet spot on this test?

I'm lost :P

I have recently downloaded the Prusa SL1 slicer software and like it much better that Chitubox. However, I do not understand how to "connect" it to my Photon. I think this is done by using the "Firmware flasher" . I've looked at the Prusa instructions about this but can't understand how to apply it to the Photon. I don't understand the firmware image. What is that? I can probably figure out the serial port. Would someone who has gone through this procedure please give me a hand with it. Thanks!

Anyone know where to get instructions on how to change a Photon S LCD?

So i have been wondering compared to FDM printing where you basically have a good guess on if your material will be enough or not (and if not you usually have a failsafe) how do you know with the photon if a particular print will finish with the amount of resin you poured into your vat?

I am wondering because i just spent about an hour perfecting the support placement (what a pain in the ass this is compared to FDM jeeez) for a model i want to try to print and after slicing it and running it through the photon validator tool it gives an estimate of ~10 hours. Thats quite long. And then it occured to me that based on the instructions you should only fill the vat to around the beveled edge which i assume would not cover the amount of resin the printer would use in those 10 hours time.

So the question remains: How do you know how much resin you need for a print and if its a long print where you won't be constantly near the printer how do you avoid running out of resin mid print?

My photon refuses to update it’s firmware. I follow the instructions from the any cubic website to the letter. The machine does it’s beeping in the proper places, and it’s rebuilding in the proper times. But when the screen comes back on, and after I’ve rebooted it myself, It always goes back to the old firmware. Any suggestions?

Upgraded the firmware to the 4.2.18 version, releveled per instructions, and this was the result... sigh. Back to the drawing board again.... ?

So, got myself one of the recommended CO-Z ultrasonic cleaners (testing here on a pair of my eyeglasses—I don’t even want to talk about all the schmutz I see wafting off in little cloudy tendrils).

The instructions were...lacking. Poorly translated, and more warnings about how not to use it vs. how to actually use the thing.

My main concern is that the lid doesn’t sit tightly when the basket is in—not to mention rattles like a freight train when it’s running. Am I to assume the lid is not meant to be used during operation, and is more just a cover for periods between uses?

Yes it's been a while! And yes I broke a toe so it's making everything not fun to do! But you don't use a trackball with your foot so I guess there's no excuse! With that out of the way this is an assembly video for Chris Derks someone who purchased the model of Titan from me and it's just easier to explain it with a video then two hand draw instructions because I don't have a paper printer imagine that!

Tramming to both the bottom plate, per instructions, and to the FEP film per YouTube, this photo shows what my build plate angle between plate and mount looks like. Is it a case of "don't worry about what it looks like if it prints ok"? Or should I contact AnyCubic since the printer is 2 weeks old?
