That turned out terrible. Great big section of missing supports. I'm certain this is a Chitubox problem so I have joined the Chitubox FB page and will join their forum, also. See my previous posts on this matter. Can anyone suggest a fix?

Have you tried prusa, Ive not had trouble with their supports?

Can you post a shot of the slicer in chitubox so we got a clue on what it should look like

You should slice the file again and look layer by layer from the bottom up. I recently had chitubox totally not slice a layer that would be during the support printing. It was like layer 15-20 for me. I had to reload the model and resupport it to fix t he issue. Anytime I sliced the model I had already put supports in it happened. When I redid it there was no issue. But check layers first because i dont know if this is what happened to you.

I use Prusa SL1 because it's so easy to use. The supports are there, but a section of them are not printing until about 1/2 way up. It's very odd.

Chitu box.

I've tried resliceing, This is the second time this has happened. Here is last nights print. The supports didn't start on the outside edge like today's, but then it started forming then had a memory error.

I would guess it's a problem with the fep tension. Tensioned too tight, so the middle supports come off fine, but the edges stay on it

Pico Elgin

I don't think so. The base underneath the missing supports is fine.

I have updated to the newest version of Chitubox and sliced it again. Now have the printer humming away. Another thought - maybe malfunctioning electronics in the printer?

Pico Elgin the base is a strong piece, the supports are small tiny surfaces

I don't think it's a chitubox issue. as mentioned in your previous post, I've encountered the exact same error. my model was supported in another program however and then imported into chitu. so, at best, it at least cannot be the chitubox support generation.

very interesting point.

It's not Chitubox. It's Photon. Looking at the prints from yesterday and today, I realized that the section size was the same. It's 12 mm high, but an unknowwn width, near 28 mm.

Pico Elgin
2020-03-24 07:00:08

The above print was placed long ways on the build platform, due to its size. This print was placed at 90 degrees.. See the 12 mm cut-out? This has to be a Photon glitch in the electronics somewhere, blocking a section of the print. Not only does it angle left to right, but from front to back, a little bit. Guess I will check the warranty. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it?

Pico Elgin

See my post about the 12 mm "section" taken out of the supports.

Pico Elgin I had similar issue after replacing the FEP and using a new exposure setting. I didn't have my FEP tuned properly. And the new settings were under exposed leaving the base and supports attached and nothing attached to the supports.
It appea rs at some point during your print there was enough surface tension on the plate to finally pull the stuff stuck to the plate off the FEP but at an unusual angle.
It doesn't appear to be an electronic problem. But a combination of exposure and FEP tension.

I have finally found the problem. I was under exposing the layers. They were 100 u, exposed at 16 seconds. That worked reasonably well the first time I tried it, in the print of the front of the model, but the rear of the model had larger volume and that didn't work so well. Here is an image of a print with a torn piece and lots of glitches in the supports.

I decided to use Anycubic white, which I've had some experience with. The print was perfect.

Here it is with some white primer applied.

I would remove supports before to use primer

Pico Elgin

I primered it to show more clearly the problem I have, see the post below.

What is happening here? Some supports don't form on the base - it's absolutely clean. Then, about 1/3rd the way up, they appear. I'm inclined to think it is a Chitubox problem of not forming them, because there isn't a trace of them on the base. What is the opinion of our group? Thanks.

Mine did that the other day as well. Also using chitubox but then again dozens of others did not. No idea what made that one special. Sorry the only thing I can give you is you are not alone.

I have had another failure; with the back half of the model; so I sliced it a second time in Chitubox and will report here in 6 hours if the print is successful. Sooner if it fails.

André Nettermann

had the same issue too. listening in

72% finished and I can tell that there are several "slices" taken out of the supports and model body. I'll post an image when the thing is finished.

What is the clearest clear resin? And what is the best way to tint that resin? I will need to tint it red to make car model tail lights. Thanks!

I have recently downloaded the Prusa SL1 slicer software and like it much better that Chitubox. However, I do not understand how to "connect" it to my Photon. I think this is done by using the "Firmware flasher" . I've looked at the Prusa instructions about this but can't understand how to apply it to the Photon. I don't understand the firmware image. What is that? I can probably figure out the serial port. Would someone who has gone through this procedure please give me a hand with it. Thanks!

I'm using ChiTuBox for the first time and I cannot understand how to transfer the file to the printer. I sliced the Ameralabs town and put it in the Photon software but see the image for what I get. The file is not there. I assume by pushing "network sending" that will send the file to the printer? Please help. I've hit a wall and don't know where to go.
