Anycubic eco resin. Quite flexible so small bits dont snap when clipping supports. But sometimes feels a little wet and uncured to the touch. Occasionally primer doesn’t dry well on it. But I like it I’ve decided. No smell. But twice the price.

Are there any guides on the best way to tear down and clean out the printer after a resin spill? I just discovered that one of my kids tipped my printer backwards with a freshly filled vat of resin in it spilling resin out, which leaked down into the printer and out the bottom. Grrr, sometimes kids just are willfully ignorant when you tell them to leave something alone and stay away from something potentially dangerous.

I don't know how much resin is in the inner works, but thankfully I didn't have a print in progress so it didn't cure inside of it. I had a failed print yesterday due to my model's supports getting elevated above the build plate about half a mm in Chitubox. Only a single support base was touching the plate. Not sure how that happened, but I had just finished redoing the supports as some were above and some where below the build plate and was just going down to restart the print.

I'm sure I can tear it down, I'm a pretty mechanically inclined type, just wanting to know if there are any potential pitfalls in taking it apart.

Seeking advice: My models got loose I have seven models which I am printing right now, in clear resin. Three of the models has gotten loose and is now in the VAC. Four others seems fine.

Of the four hour print in total, i have one hour left.

I have two options; stop the print and start over, which costs resin and worse; time - or continue the print and let the models sit there on the FEP.

What would be worst case for second option? (which I am inclined to do) 翻譯年糕

I want to make this be about 8 inches tall, I have it set at 200 MM. I'm new to the whole sacling and Cura. Is the MM settings in Cura accurate?

So I have always been interested in getting a scanner for reverse engineering parts and things. Does anyone know of one that is decent and affordable? I keep on seeing this one in my facebook feed. Anyone gotten one before?

OK, I run a file through the file validator, which provides a list of unsupported places. I can choose Fix and it will fix the ones it can, but it can do nothing about others.

Now, if go to one of the layers with a problem and click on the problem, I get an enlargement that shows pixels in the area. I can click on one and it will change color--my choices are "uses swap" or "uses on/off". What's the difference? And am I really changing my file this way?

UPDATE:Thanks everyone! This first round of pre-orders is now closed! We will now be accepting further orders once the kit is actually in Paul's hands!

-------------------------------------------------

I figured I'd post this here, since I'd been sharing my progress with everyone! But this is my official ¼ Clint Eastwood – Man with No Name Bust Pre-order Post:

I wanted to start an official pre-order post for the 1/4 Clint Eastwood as the Man with No Name/Blondie bust. The assembled piece will stand 25 cm tall. A $45 deposit is required to get on the list.

The images seen below were taken of the bust printed on my Anycubiic Photon and while it came out really nicely, I feel like some of the smaller details got lost. As a result, the final print will be handled by Ownage. We want to make this the end-all-be-all Eastwood bust ?

So in short, your print will be the exact same design, but will hold even more detail! See the image of the digital sculpt for reference.

Just to show the quality of Ownage’s 3D printing services, I’ve also included a screenshot of print work they did of a Logan and Daniel Craig sculpt. Those were 1/6 scale by the way! So this bust will look amazing.

The final print will be completed by the end of next week and will be sent to Paul Gill who will be handling all of the molding and casting. The final bust is anticipated to ship late December into January.

The price of the model is: $90 + shipping and handling.

US shipping range estimates: $10-20

International shipping estimates: At least $50 – but these will have to be estimated on a case by case basis.

Please note that these shipping and handling costs are estimates and are not included in the price of the bust itself.

Again, a $45 deposit is required to get on the list. Let’s make this happen! ? PM me to get payment info and to get on the list.

Looking for some advice from the experts: having problems with random reboots after first layer is printed..

This is on an original Photon. I have seen the problem a few times before, but recently it is happening >50% of the time I start a print. Basically the print starts as normal, the plate goes down to z=0 and the layer is exposed for the appropriate time (say 80 or 100s). Next the plate either raises slightly or not at all, the printer stops for a few seconds (blank display) then reboots back to the start screen. There is no way to continue the print The first layer has printed fine and is stuck nicely to the plate.
I have done a fair bit of fault-finding. Some observations: It happens with different models. It does not seem to be a corrupt file as it will sometimes work on the second or third attempt with the same file. Have tried three or four different USB sticks. Same problem regardless When the print gets past the first two or three layers, it usually seems to succeed. I have otherwise had very successful prints with nice detail and I am not seeing any problems with levelling etc. I typically do not re-level beween prints, but I have tried doing so and it does not seem to make any difference to this issue. Problem is seen with both 0.02 and 0.05 layer heights.
This weekend, I decided to throw everything at it, and did the following: Updated firmware to 4.2.18 Replaced power brick with a good quality one (from RS online) rated at 12V, 7A Replaced internal USB extension cable (also RS online) Bought new Sandisk USB drive (16Gb), newly formatted with FAT32 Cleaned and carefully lubricated Z-rod with lithium grease. I started a print with a plate full of small parts and it failed as described above. Without changing anything (not even removing USB from slot, or even removing the cured resin from the printer), I started the print again. It failed a second time. As the layers are only 0.02mm, I figured I could get away with one more attempt without removing the cured resin, so again, I restarted the same file on the same USB without changing anything. The first seven or eight layer have gone fine, I could hear the click of the print pulling off the FEP and I hope it is still running. I have done something similar once before and had a perfect print on the second or third attempt. Having worked with fault-finding various machines for most of my working life, I have learned that 'gut-feelings' cannot really be trusted. Having said that, this feels a bit like something is happening when the motor is under most strain (a fair proportion of the plate is covered in support bases, and the cure time is of course extended for the first layers). Considering the things I have already replaced, there isn't much left to try: maybe I can look at reducing the bottom layer times. Otherwise I am worried the problem is with the mainboard (or the motor/driver?)
Any suggestions? 翻譯年糕

Help with file format error.

I just updated my Photon S to the new V5.0.0. In the change log on anycubics website they say that with this update the machine will recognise .photons format besides just the .pws format. At first I was really happy because now I can upgrate my photonS and still use Chitubox. But when I put my USB in the machine it does show the print on the screen in a .photons format. But when I click the print button it says 'file format error'. Why is the .photons format not working?
