Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » UV

Two questions:

1) Would anyone care to share their settings for Anycubic Grey on the OG Photon? I am currently doing 14s/layer, but feel like I am loosing detail. I dropped it to 12, but I didn't gain much detail and I started losing supports. I should mention it's probably a little cooler in the room than would be optimal, if that affects things.

2) At what point in the finishing process is the resin safe to touch without gloves? After the IPA bath, or not until after the UV curing is done?

Thanks in advance!

I'm back! Had the most absurd start to this year. First day of january, I sneezed while reading a book and snapped my back ? Been moving around like some 90-year-old Humpty Dumpty. I'll never take sitting for granted, ever again. It's so nice to sit without having to twist into an unnatural lump. Seriously. Bliss. Anyway, I had plenty of time to design and now I'm finally able to get all those drawings turned into printable jewelry. Here's a few done in Zbrush.

So, I studied Art Nouveau, especially the bracelet is heavily based on drawings/jewelry that I found online. Lovely stuff. Very swirly and organic. Each and every design will have stone/stones as I'm trying to learn a thing or two about setting. These are all made for 3mm stones and up. I did test the hummingbird with a 2mm stone and well, it's super tiny, while I like small things, that might be a tad bit too small. I know what it is, but if you don't know what it's supposed to be, then it just becomes a thing. Not exactly what I'm looking for...glad to have a printer so I can try again!

I'll post the next prototypes tomorrow, if I get the size correct that is ? happy printing! Next stop: Dental Grey!

Does anyone one have any experience with Sain Smart resin? I have a bottle of Transparent Green Rapid UV from them I got as a gift/bribe for more minis.

Not sure what settings work for Sain Smart, seeing as I've been using the standard Anycubic Green for my Photon.

Hi everyone, Getting a weird issue with my LCD atm. I replaced the LCD because I was getting light bleed, but I screwed up the replacement because I wasn't careful enough with the ribbon cable and tore it. Anyways, I put the original LCD back and plugged it in however, when doing a UV exposure test the pattern no longer shows up. I was extra careful with this LCD this time, so got any ideas?
It was working fine before I took it out. TIA 翻譯年糕

new with Anycubic photon S. I think my first print is a disaster, so any help will be gratefull.

I used the default config with Exposure time of 8s, off time 1s. Isopropyl alcohol wasing at finish and UV light and end.

I see a lot of lines (looks like a bad FDM) :-(

It is supposed to be translucent green, and not white

Does your prints smell after curing? I've printet 4 miniatures now and cured them from 5-20 minutes to see the difference. They still have that resin smell emitting from them.

Is this hazardous (like gas thingie?)

Am I doing something wrong?

My process:

Take the print off, down into iso-alcohol.
Shake it around for some time (1-2 minutes)
Cure it under an UV-strip, turning it around sometimes

Prime it with primer - still smells.

Okay, new problem. When I am on firmware 4.2.17 I can perform the UV test on the photon and it is perfect. However, when I update to 4.2.18 or 4.2.19 the LCD goes crazy when performing the test. Any advice? I would really like to use the new firmware as it removes frame-shearing.

Not trolling. Genuine question.

I don't care about "winning an argument" and I ABSOLUTELY don't want people to be scared of these machines. They're fun and any piece of equipment is completely safe so long as you know what you're doing. But I would just like to get some concrete facts if possible for my own piece of mind and to put our hobby into proper perspective.

As a consumer it's been very difficult to scrounge up definitive facts about the health effects of resin. Almost every scientific study must caveat it'self with "May lead to" "Has shown signs of" or "X, is not yet fully understood". That's just the nature of studies. They can't deal in absolutes of "Yes" or "No".

I am interested to know what the main difference is between traditional resins such as fiberglass resin, urethane resin, and other casting resins. Because I know for a fact that many of them DO emit hazardous fumes. They say so on the can and advise you to wear a respirator and eye protection because of it. Many people are saying respiratory protection is unnecessary with printer resins. I realize the UV resins are not the same but for the sake of knowledge I'd like to know in what ways. What is the actual science behind it? What are the biological effects if any? You have the floor if you know the answer and it would put an end to all this petty back and forth. How are those other resin fumes hazardous and most 3d printer resins not?

Speaking only from my own experience, I print in a non-ventilated garage (yes I'm working on that don't worry) and many times have noticed that my throat is irritated if I stay in there too long with the resin printer running. As a result I have to open up the garage and circulate the air pretty frequently. And no it's not "mold in the garage" because I've observed this in my last place too.

Just for the heck of it I saw my doctor who referred me to a toxicologist. I explained all about the resin and showed them what I use. The toxicologist didn't seem to have any clue what to tell me. Just sorta sent me off with a "Yea there's not much data out there."
So yes I went to an actual doctor. The only doctor anyone could think to recommend and they had no idea. So any rational person upon seeing that nobody has solid answers would just err on the side of caution. Especially when it takes almost no effort or money to do so.

Thank you for accepting me into a group and next and now the first problem :-)

The new Photon installed this week, the new USB flash, UV display test does not show error, Anycubic green from the shipment. The first test print "cube" minor errors. Further printing interrupted printing of layers, the Z axis works without a problem. Now with OK calibration, the UV display no longer works - but OK /UV display test / is still displayed. I checked the UV display connection and it seems OK.

Control printing "cube" printed from USB flash manufacturer, other USB flash are new - it does not run from one USB flash - neither the original or new.

Where can there be a mistake?
