Itsa meee Mario. Should've been more careful which pipe to go down in Mario! :D This was a fun little project to do. Base was printed with my CR10S and all the figures with the Photon. Painted with Valeo and Citadel paints.

So i had my Photon for about a month and i have done about 6-8 prints so far. After last 2 prints i noticed the following. I take out the vat to drain it and i notice that the vat is somewhat stuck to the bottom of the platform/screen of the machine i take it out and there seems to be some very minor trace amount of something that is stuck to the screen protector above the lcd screen. My main reaction is that it cannot be resin as its roughly around the center of the screen and it dosen't look like resin plus if it would be resin then wouldn't the leak be around the edges of the FEP?

I can clean it off with a lot of (5-10miniutes) careful scrubbing with alcholic wet wipes as the tiny stuck residue of whatever that is comes off very slowly.

Now my question is: what the hell is this and why does this seem to keep happening? Again it dosen't appear to be resin as the FEP/VAT is not leaking and i did not spill anything and even if i would i always clean out everything.

Is this maybe part of the FEP that somehow attaches itself to the screen protector due to heat maybe over longer prints?

Its really annoying as i have to keep scrubbing it clean between prints as it would oviously would negatively impact any future print if i just would leave it on there.

Has anyone experiences something similar to this?

See attached 2 pics of the issue. First is after i removed the vat. Second is after i painstakingly cleaned it away.

So can anybody shed some light for me on what went wrong here? I mean other then the obvious which is that the supports somehow broke lose from the base of the figure and thus it deformed in that strange way. Everything else turned out really great. Should i have added even more supports connecting the base or used thicker (used chitubox medium support settings) supports maybe? Strangely the other half of the base turned out just fine.

So it seems that even with the much stronger inline fan system and the active carbon tank to get rid of the smell my GF still has an issue with the fumes (which granted to some extent i also can smell) so my last resort is that i would get rid of the 5L extra resin that came with my printer order (all 5Ls are unopened) and swtich to Elegoo or comparable low oder resin instead.

So the question is this: Is there anybody in this group that would be interested to take this 5L resin off my hands at a fair price? I'm located in Hungary so ideally if there are hungarian users i would prefer that to avoid high shipping costs but if someone from EU is interested and wouldn't mind the shipping costs feel free to throw me a message.

I will be away for the month of October so if anyone is interested we can get to an agreement earliest in November.

I have the following stock which i'd like to get rid of:
2x500 ML Anycubic Aqua Blue - Date on Bottle: 2020.05. 2x500 ML Anycubic Green - Date on Bottle: 2020.03. 2x500 ML Anycubic Translucent Yellow - Date on Bottle: 2020.03 2x500 ML Anycubic Orange - Date on Bottle: 2019.12.05 2x500 ML Anycubic Red - Date on Bottle: 2018.09.25

PM me if you are interested

Thanks

So a question to any owners that have hooked up their Photon to an active carbon tank to pump the fumes out of their machine via the thingyverse back panel adapter:
Did you take out the built in small fan from the chamber with the filter to allow for better airflow? Even though the thingyverse adapter goes to the back the machine has lots of vent holes at the bottom where the fumes may still come out. Did you cover this up in any way or left it as is? The reason i am asking is that i have hooked up my photon to such an exaust solution and did two prints wtih Elegoo Grey which i specifically bought because people say it has much less of a smell (which thankfully is correct). Everything was great and i could be within the same room without noticing any strong smell at all.
I know switched back for a print to the AC Green and the fumes deffinately very there again in the room. So i am thinking that either the setup is somehow not working correctly or that maybe i still need to patch up other holes on the machine (i.e.: bottom vent openings) so that the fumes can only go in one direction (to the carbon filter tank)
The problem is i bought the machine with 5L extra resin which i would really not like to throw out but if i can only print with Elegoo Resin to avoid getting gassed in my own house than thats my last option.
Thoughts? Insights?
This is how its setup currently. There is a Vents 100 VKO1 inline fan installed to suck out the fumes into the carbon tank. 翻譯年糕

And here's my second ever resin print. Scaled him up to about 200% so that he wouldn't be that tiny. Again loving the wonderful quallity of it all.

And here it is. My first ever real resin print. Since the figure is so small the little blemishes i created during my support removal (and there's still some stuff left) look worse then they actually are especially since they basically are only visible in the macro shots :D

Overall i am extremely happy and amazed at the level of detail this printer.

So i have been wondering compared to FDM printing where you basically have a good guess on if your material will be enough or not (and if not you usually have a failsafe) how do you know with the photon if a particular print will finish with the amount of resin you poured into your vat?

I am wondering because i just spent about an hour perfecting the support placement (what a pain in the ass this is compared to FDM jeeez) for a model i want to try to print and after slicing it and running it through the photon validator tool it gives an estimate of ~10 hours. Thats quite long. And then it occured to me that based on the instructions you should only fill the vat to around the beveled edge which i assume would not cover the amount of resin the printer would use in those 10 hours time.

So the question remains: How do you know how much resin you need for a print and if its a long print where you won't be constantly near the printer how do you avoid running out of resin mid print?
