When my build plate goes down it sequels. I lubricated all the moving parts and still the same.
Any thoughts?

Normally that’s the lead screw for Z, if it’s well greased and still screaming maybe a motor is out somewhere?

Darn. Hoping that was not it

Need to get some replacement FEP sheets and running low on resin. Earliest from Amazon is April 23rd. Lol. Anyone know anywhere else that may ship faster?

Seems a lot of things on amazon are showing an april 23rd ship date though people saying they still get it in an average time.

Jon Hammersley

Order direct from Anycubic (ordered resin today and shows 3-5 day ship time for free)

Michael Grace

Jon Hammersley eh I've heard the horrors from ordering direct. Never getting printers and so forth.

Jon Hammersley

Michael Grace got my was/cure thing in the promised time so took a chance. Ordered some from Amazon also just in case the April date was just for show

Hi.
I got some trouble with this fan - it doesn’t start when press on.. any idea what’s wrong - and how to fix it?

Is there something stuck in it?

Paul Holmes
2020-03-27 03:43:10

That's a good thing... likely is that its come unplugged during shipping. All it seems to do is blow resin fumes all around your work space and many of us disable it anyway!!

Chris Robinson
2020-03-27 03:43:34

While you should figure out what's going on with it (maybe a loose connection?) I don't think it's a critical piece. Especially if you've added any mods that suck out the fumes.

Dennis Walter Jr.
2020-03-27 03:43:54

I think mine only clicked on when it was actually printing. I am not sure though as I put a whole carbon filter vent system

Okay. - thanks for the respond, so it doesn’t do anything then remove the smell?

Jarin Udom
2020-03-27 04:05:34

It's SUPPOSED to remove the smell, but it actually just adds to it because all it really does is blow fumes all around your house

Jarin - thanks ??

A while back I asked about dyes for clear resin!!

I just remembered that I have a ton of left over tie dye stuff!! Will that work with the resin???

It’s a powdered steak that gets mixed with water. If I concentrate it enough in a small amount of water will that have any effect on the curing???

I will probably have to have a separate bottle to mix it in surely.

Any help or info is greatly appreciated!!

And yes I know you can buy specific resin safe dyes but I also started making Mead this month so I am shorter on cash than I usually am lol

Water is not going to mix well with resin...

Sean Smith
2020-03-27 03:42:35

Scott Pavlich

It’s not going to be much water. Like a teaspoon just to concentrate the dye. It will basically be like a gel and not full on liquid.

Alex Clarke
2020-03-27 03:42:43

It will utterly ruin the resin.

Sean Smith
2020-03-27 03:43:28

Ok so are there any other substances I can add the dye powder to that won’t ruin the resin?

Scott Pavlich
2020-03-27 03:45:13

Sean Smith This is what I’m talking about though...it doesn’t mix AT ALL. Maybe try alcohol though

Alex Clarke
2020-03-27 03:45:48

Directly to the resin? Why use another material? You could test it by adding wither the solution or powder to a teaspoon of resin then cook it in your curing station to see exactly what happens. Sound quite interesting as an experiment.

Scott Pavlich
2020-03-27 03:46:42

A very small amount with ipa should allow you to color the resin without affecting the resin itself: all the dyes I’ve used with industrial epoxy have been alcohol based

Sean Smith
2020-03-27 03:58:39

Scott Pavlich But IPA dissolves the uncured resin.

There has to be something else Incan use.

Scott Pavlich
2020-03-27 04:03:29

Sean Smith It does...but in minuscule amounts it won’t do anything...just use enough to barely dissolve the pigment then mix it into the resin....I accidentally splashed some in my vat once and just mixed it in real well...printed fine. Many of the liquid resin dyes are already alcohol based for this reason...Monocure’s might even be...the liquid has to be a “solvent” to resin for it to actually work

Have a question, so at what point do you guys add supports? Obviously I would prefer the least amount of post work on my resin prints.

翻譯年糕

Scott Pavlich
2020-03-27 02:47:17

When the print requires them. Best advice I can give you is watch some of Greg Kourakos videos...there’s no way to really say “when” you need supports other than to prevent islands and as the part reaches a point it needs them

Robert Clauff
2020-03-27 02:58:27

Scott Pavlich ok, because I just finished fantastic print but so many supports making it very ugly.

Scott Pavlich
2020-03-27 03:04:08

Robert Clauff It’s difficult for anyone to simply say “you need 20” or “every 5mm” or anything like that. Every print requires its own set per the configuration or the model, the angle it’s on, whether it’s hollow or not, what kind of cross sections it has, does it have arms that stick out, etc. But watch the videos and you’ll get the basics real quick
If you run into questions on a particular print, then post a screenshot here and any number of people will help you out.
Happy printing

William Tatum
2020-03-27 03:35:50

Kane Gibson it's supposed to be pretty close to Elegoo Rapid Gray. I haven't used it before. But they were basically the only vendor I could find who could get me.resin before mid to late April

William Tatum
2020-03-27 03:36:29

Kane Gibson that said, it's Monoprice, they usually deliver a solid mid-range product.

William Tatum
2020-03-27 04:07:53

Kane Gibson I'll report back after I use it. I'm currently working through a liter of Sain Smart Amazon resin. That resin has been good, but it is MUCH more brittle and I have to be a lot more careful taking supports off.

Kane Gibson
2020-03-27 04:48:29

hi all im using OG photon and ameralabs AMD3.

im trying to print at 1/1250 scale so its really tiny. so ar i have been able to print a negative line of .025mm and 0.4mm deep. i need to recreate a stone wall.

i would like to know what is the smallest negative space i should be able to ordinarily achieve and how far apart can i ahieve it for example the line was 1mm from the edge, can i replicate the line in .5mm away or .25mm away?

i hope you can help

Ash Fielding
2020-03-27 14:48:45

25 micrcons is the practical limit as that’s the resolution of the screen although theoretically you could over burn to get it smaller, but it won’t be reliable

Jim Monty
2020-03-27 18:22:29

could i then reliably print negative space of say a straight line of 0.1mm width negative? abd say 0.1 deep

trying to attempt my first prints today. Not having a any luck so far. Downloaded and unzipped files, opened them in Chitubox and added supports, saved STL file, then opened them in Photon to slice and set resin info. Saved to included (as STL file) USB Drive and went to start to try and print and the STL files, including the the Photon Box file did not show on the screen. I have been looking on the web but can't find a resolution to the problem. The Only thing that shows Up on the Photons screen is something called a RERF file saved as a PHoton File. Can anyone help. I am already getting frustrated. The Machine is version 3.4.1 and I got it about a week ago.

You can't print an STL file, when you slice it with the correct settings for your printer, you will have a different type of file saved by the software

Keith Yinger
2020-03-27 02:46:39

If you have the photon printer then you need to save them from the slicing software to the USB stick as a .photon file. The printer should recognize it then.

Catherine Macken
2020-03-27 05:25:48

Thank you. I saved the Photon file but I must have copied the stl file to the USB. I decided to give up for the day but will try it again tomorrow.

Catherine Macken
2020-03-27 05:41:45

Thank you. I did save the Photon file but I must have coped the STL instead of the Photon to the USB drive. Will give it another try tomorrow.
