I'm down to using 50% and it seems to be working fine

I have been using denatured alcohol and it works good. In the paint section. Clean burning fuel. I didn't even get a chance to use 90% iso.

Picked up a gallon of simply green at the hardware store today. Seems to do the trick ?

Pour non iodine salt into your 50/70% IPA. Dont worry, you cant pour in too much, more is better. Shake it up good. Undissolved salt sinks, newly created salt water sinks, 99% IPA sits on top. Decant IPA, dry out salt water to use next time.

I've found a few on Ebay 5ltr around £7

Denatured is the way to go. Five minute baths and all the goo is gone. Completely reusable for quite a while also.

Gabe Snooks is there any way to get rid of the iodine component in salt? It's illegal to sell non-iodized salt where I live

Nipuna Gunarathne not sure, but they must have pickling or sea salt available. Table salt must have iodine, the others dont. Here in Canada I cant find non iodine table salt either.

Yes I homed first, then made all my adjustments. I then backed up one screen and press Z0, but it wont let me confirm. The menu pops up for a few seconds and goes away.

you might want to try reseating the screen connector.

You can use https://www.yeggi.com/ to search for a print, and then click through to get to the actual print page on Thingiverse. It at least makes up for the terrible search, and you may find some stuff you like on other sites too

Bert Harvey that would slow it down, but they also changed the site design two days ago, and for some reason the search algorithms got changed too and barely function at pulling up even slightly relevant results.
Today is better than yesterday though.

A company like startasys and this is all they can do with Thingiverse.
Not to mention they are loading it with ads now.

my assumption is its a combination of new site roll-out (often buggy at first even at the best of times) being hit with massive increase in traffic and download volume. I'm guessing there are a couple network admins over at thingiverse literally scrambling to stay atop of a roaring dumpster fire, screaming "I told you so!" at whichever business manager pushed for this rollout right now

thingiverse doesn't suck. the whining freeloading people that can't even let a company that made thingiverse update their FREE system for people to get FREE files. if i owned thingiverse i would shut it down on all of you as you all deserve it. go buy a model or learn how to make them. oh here is an idea start a thingiverse of your own and find out how you would feel if you just read all this. WOW people be kinder to others............

Joseph Soneji I believe now that he is stuck at home he has all the time in the world to print, but no access to files he wants to print? my guess at least. Kind of like the twilight zone episode with the last guy one earth having all the time to read, but breaks his glasses.

Wikipedia is free and works. just does donation drives. i'd give them a few bucks. we can complain until they offer a solution. Also facebook is far from free, your data is your payment. they sell that and have targeted adds to generate revenue.

I had to let the alcohol sit on it for a good while. 15-20 minutes or so.

Press on the fep from underneath a little and use your plastic scraper ton gently scrape it off

Aaron Dunkerly I tend to use my finger nail through a glove... just to bairly get under it and peel it up while slowly sliding a plastic scraper thing under it

I'd like to also add that I've used blue tack before when needing to get off really tiny stuck pieces. Worked well.

Lift it with finger from bottom or use IPA and try first method

I clean the FEP off and then give it a bit then flick the FEP from the bottom and it usually dislodges it from the FEP.

In my experience? Spend 15 minutes with a plastic scraper cursing the name of whatever gods come to mind.

i tried in 1/144 but you need to support it differently and it barely fits on the plate haha

Looking at it my gut feeling is to print it vertically. Literally rotated 90 backwards so the critters are crawling upwards. It’ll be a longer print but I think it’ll be the best orientation from a quick glance

Load it in Prusaslicer and right click, then optimize orientation. Add supports with settings of 3mm 100% and then export “entire build plate including supports to STL”

Then load on chitubox and slice

I'll try this I think, see how it goes. Lee Fletcher I’ve found a lot of the time, unless it is a free floating island, it shouldn’t hurt too much to not be supported. SLA can handle a LOT Of overhang with the right angles

That's me downloaded Prusaslicer, oriented, and exported back into Chitu. Looks to be slightly more rotated to mine (hard to see though, there's so much going on). Will print this plate as is, see which one comes out the best ;) I'm pretty sure it'll be Prusaslicer!

Jarrod Richards ok results time! So they both printed well, but the Prusa auto supports were a nightmare to remove. They were embedded right into the swarm. And I broke a claw off getting them off.

Mine were ok, and following The 3dprintpro support g uide on YouTube, they were so easy to remove. However, it TOTALLY over supported the base, so there’ll be a fair bit of filing and sanding to get that levelled off.

I think a combo of them both is the best way. The orientation didn’t seem to matter as much as the thicker supports on the Prusa version. Images to follow...

Prusa front - you can see a claw broken off on one of the wee guys on the top right.

Prusa back...I left some of the random supports internally to show how annoying they have been to get out! Clippers, long nose pliers etc.

Mine printed ok on top, and no lost claws or nasty supports to remove. However, I made a mess of the base underneath.

I think they both came out great. I’ve got the claw for the other guys, so once they’re cured properly I’ll just glue it on and no harm done. ?

First question, did you clean before removing supports, or the other way around? I usually clean well with IPA first and my supports peel right off.

Yeah these had just had an IPA bath, supports removed after that, but they need further cleaning. The Prusa supports seem to be a lot thicker than mine so most weren't pulling off easily. I had to clip probably 90% of them, and some were really hard to reach. Perhaps I got the settings wrong. It was my first time using it :P I will keep learning though!

Lee Fletcher the 3mm is important. That’s what makes for ease or removal.
The % is the density. If you use 76% you’ll get less of a spiderweb of supports

The guy who does the supports is the guy whose YouTube channel I’ve learnt supporting from, so it’s spot on. I have to say it’s so much easier to just drag the pre-supported stls into Chitubox. All I have to worry about is fitting them all in ?

Lee Fletcher those supports are crazy. If you don’t have your resin settings 100% spot on they can fail spectacularly. That being said, when they do work they are a thing of beauty
