Question
I just picked up a used photon, and the light seems okay, the LCD is new

I'm getting some weirdness in the prints, in that they aren't prints, I'll get just a platform attached to the build plate, and then the rest on the FEP, no support stems or anything.

My thought is that the print is actually failing as soon as the base layer are done, like the bulb isn't putting out enough UV

I ran the test and it doesnt' seem any less bright than one of my working ones, and I've run the same failed print on another printer with no issues.

Thoughts?

Vinicius Silva ever thought about rpi and nanodlp for your photon? Now that I scratched it open to install from scratch I don’t think the build would be that hard. Only real headache would be the lcd adapter as far as I can tell and a Linux overlay to the touchscreen?

Just want to mention this here, since when I was worried about buying a Photon last year, because most of the posts in here was people having different troubles with the printer.

To start with, there is nothing special or anything hard about this pictured print. But this is printed today, after I had printed somewhere between 70-100 prints by bow, that where all atleast taking up half the build plate, and most of the time more than half the height of the print area.

Again, nothing particular interesting about that.
But the thing is, I have only leveled my printer 1 single time, back when I got it summer last year. I have never tightened my FEP or replaced it. I have done zero modding, and have not sanded my build plate.

I leveled my printer one time using flints method. And have only ever have nice prints, almost zero failures (a few where I didnt know how much support to add)

No z wobble, no leakage, no squeaking noises from Z-rod, no touch panel freezing, no LCD failures.

My only point with this post is. The Photon can totally be worth your money, if you are not sure, and it just isnt enough that people post the success. I love it, and I am totally aware that I just cursed myself, so that tommorow my printer will blow up and burn the House. But worth it ?

PS. I never touched a 3D printer before using the Photon, and it was very easy to learn

So I just changed my lcd for the first time on my Photon S. But now the surface of the glass is lower than before. It doesnt quite come up to the flat surface of metal floor.

I put some capton tape around the edge, and the inside edge still has most of the sticky tape.
Ieveled the bed. But Im worried about if its going to work with the glass lowered.

Hey guys, I'm getting a weird issue that I need your help to figure out. I've had prints stick to the fep 1 in 2 time. So the print fails, I relevel, it works, I try another print and it sticks to the fep, again I relevel and it works. Now Im pretty sure it has to do with either level or z=0. I used to be able to print 10 times in a row easily but ever since I've changed my LCD and my mainboard I've been getting this issue. Anyone got an idea guys? I use firmware 4.0.11.

Left the printer off 2 weeks and lcd was mess up this morning soo, New lcd, new fep, made this very tiny one as a test print, dwarf is 8-10mm. Now printing a good size one. Monocure clear with black, blue and yellow dye

Hope everyone is having a good day.

I have been trying to find information regarding depressions/bumps left in the FEP following prints. I have already gone through one after just 4 prints, and it caused a micro-leak onto the screen. I replaced it, and after the first print there was already a pretty large bump right in the middle.

I made sure there wasn’t anything between the FEP/LCD, and the build plate does not have any abrasions or bumps itself. I leveled the bed with the flint read method this time since last time, I used the any cubic recommended method.

I’m trying another print, and it seems to be working alright, will add photos after it’s done to see if there are any additional marks.

I understand it can keep printing on a pretty well marked up and abused FEP, but I really don’t want more leaks. Any help is appreciated. I will also add a photo of the previous FEP after I took it out in the comments.

SOLVED: here for future reference.

Need help here. I just ordered this new LCD off AliExpress (link below) but I read after I clicked order a review said doesn't work the the photon. I messaged the seller but I see other listings with the same part number LS055R1SX04 that say for the the photon and other listing is the same but ends with a 3 instead of a 4. Does that make any difference? Should I cancel or will this work?

Noticed some odd holes in my print, god dammit. Time for a new screen. Had the wrong exposure last time and it failed I guess broken the LCD in a few spots. Luckily there LCD is cheap. Does it come with new glass or depends what/who I buy from. Someone with experience drop a comment on any advice or whatever, seems simple enough but some tips would be nice.
