Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » resin

Hello! I printed 3 of the same object on my build plate. Only the one farthest to the left printed, the other two stopped a little up from the base and the cured resin from those two bases were stuck to the FEP film. What do you think the problem could have been? The level? Temperature? Exposure?

I put this out there on a sub thread, but I thought I'd ask again to see what people think. I have an Anycubic Photon Resin printer -- NOT the S -- but it has the 'S' motherboard. So do I follow printing instructions for the S or for the base model?

Hello!

I’m fairly new to this, and need some help. Been printing for the past month occasionally. All prints have been successful.... EXCEPT when using eSun bioResin Grey. I’ve had 100% success with their transparent bioresin as well as their hard tough... but can’t get a print to work right with grey.

Using an original Photon and Chitubox to slice (medium auto supports, minus a few that didn’t look necessary). Trying to print 2 simple tests to dial in a good exposure for this resin; an FEP puck and the One Ring.

I’ve tried quite a few combinations, and these settings were the first to actually make something. Even exposure time 17s failed during the supports, and anything like 12s or under didn’t even get nubs where the supports should’ve been. However, at 20s, all the detail in the Ring is completely missing and the supports for the FEP are a solid chunk. I’m assuming this is from overexposure.... but not experienced enough to make that determination.

I could keep dialing in between 18-19s, but before I waste any more time doing that... I was wondering if I could be doing something else wrong. Can 1 second make that big of a difference between a total failure and doing even the most basic detail? Any advice is welcome!!

I feel like I’m using too many supports, but seeing how they were failing at lower exposures, I didn’t think it’d be an issue.

I can’t figure out why this resin is so difficult. All the others have had significantly lower exposure times (6-8s) and first time flawless prints. I’ve been told grey is best for reproducing details, and have been trying to dial in my settings so I can use this for the detailed models I plan to print. Am I wasting time with this resin?

P.S. Before making recommendations to switch to a different brand, I live in Thailand and resin options are limited. eSun is readily available and in my budget. I could give up on the bioResin or just the grey... but most other brands aren’t an option.

Thanks in advance!!

Strawberry poison dart frog printed on an anycubic photon. The base was printed on an fdm style printer, the dirt was made by mixing coconut coir with epoxy resin. The leaves were cut from a sheet of plastic.

Hello! I'm brand new to printing! Just got my photon/resin in the mail and it waiting on my ethanol. I'm super excited to start printing, I've been obsessively watching the videos on setting up and starting to print.

I've got Siriya tech fast resin, and I found a PDF file describing what the settings I need, so don't worry about that.

Are there any quick tips you wish you had known when you first started? I'm excited but very nervous about starting.

Hi everyone, thanks for the add to the group. I got my Anycubic Photon last week. Test print came out great on the clear resin they supplied. Using settings I found on videos and the guide spreadsheet I jumped in and printed my first miniature... Really happy with the quality and detail that came out but ran into a few issues.

Marauder from Battletech. 6mm scale.

I learned a lot from this... Bottom layers exposure was too long. Too many bottom layers as well, I really struggled to get it off the plate.

Also, and why I am posting, the supports really got me. I followed the popular videos and added tonnes of supports. Really thought I'd covered all the islands and stress points. However, they all fused together and made it really hard to get off. I even snapped a toe off the model and part joined onto the leg as a solid piece.
I guess it's because the scale was so small I never needed that many but looking for advice for anyone who prints in that sort of size and if you do mechs that is a bonus.

(Pepsi cap added for scale and blue model is from an ender 3 for quality comparison).

Thanks!

Is there a trick to hollowing out models to prevent them from holding vacuum and containing resin?

This weekend I printed a Slowbro (pokemon) for my son, but I hollowed out the rather large model. Since the model was clear I could see that there was a good bit (likely 5-10ml of resin trapped inside the model itself. I used a very small drill bit and was able to get the resin out of the model without issue.

Is there something I should be doing to prevent this from happening?

Diagnosing this was fun, but I believe I was encountering the infamous frame shearing on this model. I’ve since updated my firmware from 4.2.17 to 4.2.19 and hopefully that resolves the issue. It’s strange that it only affected one side of the model but some of the parts on that side are FULLY cured and hard compared to the normal tackiness of uncured resin models. Also left some fun resin boogers in my vat.
