I told that I could make a tutorial someday, but currently I have no time for that...

Why is it whenever I feel like I'm below avg at something. Stuff like this really makes me realize how far into the ground I am at stuff lol this is just beautiful in every possible aspect!

It is awesome, but if it's the first 3d thing they sculpted and they did it with mudbox, the first 3d program they used, how did they know that it has less features than z-brush?

Denatured Alchohol, bought a gallon on amazon.

You mean clean right, because IPA does not make the resin cure, that's UV light.
And you can get methanol (fuel line anti-freeze, also called methyl hydrate) or ethanol (denaturated alcohol/camp stove fuel). Keep in mind, both *might* cloud clear resins.

Buy water washable resin and just use water. I paid 5 bucks more for 1 l and I dont need to buy ipa anymore. So it's worth to pay a little more for this one!!!

yea its hard to find ipa as its being used for more important things. for now i have stopped printing think i can wait for ipa when there are lives at risk. :)

I use Tek1969 in a ultrasonic cleaner it's a detergent, just filter regularly and top-up. Works for me as I do multiple prints every day.

I have a heavey duty degreaser which works perfectly for standard resins but it is in a ultrasonic cleaner

Mr Clean.

Any cubic recommends ethanol for cleaning their resins per the website. Denatured alcohol is "usually" ethanol with methanol added however it can contain acetone and other thinners as well.

Go to Home Depot, look in the paint section around the thinners. You should be able to find acetone (as mentioned above) and/or "Fuel" which is usually denatured alcohol. The latter is what I use for all my resin print cleaning.

Acetone, carefully though.

Denatured alcohol is also known as methylated spirits.

Use acetone, but dont leave them soaking for a long time, a few seconds in the stuff should do the trick.

Anyone tried high proof clear booze, like Everclear? Something cheap.

I use methylated spirits/denatured alcohol for my cleaning purposes and it works fine, try to find one that is as much as 95% ethanol, usually labeled as camping stove fuel or as a cleaning agent in the paint supplies

My cleaning process is a little convoluted but it works great also, I have a 1 gallon plastic paint pail full of denatured with a removable lid, and a spray bottle filled with my denatured, I pre rinse over the pail with the spray, soak in the pail, proceed to spray rinse a second time, and then hand dry.

A bit of something I picked up on accident, a paper towel sheet sitting in your alcohol vat will appear to slowly accumulate dissolved resin in its fibers as a passive filter of sorts, to help keep your cleaning process consistent between batches

It would probably work but there are better options. My local hardware store had plenty of acetone and denatured alcohol.

Kerosene works well, just stinky and oily. You're in Brazil, Ethanol works great.

This is great information. Thank you for sharing. Some types of RV Antifreeze also contain high percentages of ethanol. This is available for purchase in North America.

Beware. Not all antifreeze is alcohol based - Sometimes you get glycerine or ethylene glycol/propylene glycol in there, which isnt that great a solvent.

Also, assuming my translation is correct:

Methyl Ethyl Ketone - MEK is some good stuff - used to use it in the labs

And i assume Methyl IsoButyl Ketone does a similar job.

MEK is a really bad for your liver and is absorbed through the skin. Take precautions.

Yup, I did a lot of fiberglassing, making custom car parts, etc, MEK was great for cleanup but had to take precautions.

Fernando Valenzuela nope. It's amazing at cleaning but you need to be quick. It doesn't need a long soak.

I use Mr. Clean in my ultrasonic cleaner and have no complaints.

Mean Green is what I use.

How long do you leave the parts submerged for?

Simple green works like a charm. You have to scrub with a brush unless you have an ultra sonic.

I dont have a cleaner, but I do have plenty of SG. How long would I have to keep the parts submerged to get results?

i leave them in there for 15 mins and then take a tooth brush and scrub the parts. Then rinse them in clean warm water.

Real question: could you use vodka? :)

Filter the used ipa, then reuse..repeat indefinetly. i have been printing for two years and am still using the first batch of ipa..

If in the US the 99 cent only store csrries gallongs of LAs Totally Awesome for 4 bucks. Works great. Also works fantastic for stripping paint of minis.

You can use vodka, I had some old bottles in my garage from last year that were marshmallow flavor ? work like a charm

I had a bottle of "technical alcohol", basically a cleaning substance for mechanical parts with 70% alcohol, works like a charm

Undiluted anti-freeze is often 95%+ ethanol.

I use paper towel. Catches a lot of the gunk, but still flows well. Then run through a coffee filter if it needs.

Just remember to lid your IPA, or it'll all evaporate.

for real though, acetone. recently made the switch due to ipa shortage. im never going back. its gaster cleaner and easier.

They have probably stopped accepting nrw shippments of resin as its not an essential item.

I reuse my alcohol like crazy. One "dirty" bath, and one clean with a water rinse between.

I scored the last 4L IPA before shops were closed, gloves are a plenty due to my airbrushing stockpile... but resin is getting critical. Soon I will have to deal with Anycubic Aqua Blue, my nemesis.

Got IPA on the way arriving today, resin on the way (shipped today), paper towels.... yeah... running low...

XL nitrile gloves are readily available in Belgium, slightly more expensive. IPA, not so much. Fortunately I still have a few liters, which I'll now save for disinfecting.

Harbor Freight just donated their nitrile gloves to hospitals but place like that or auto parts stores might still have gloves.

Smith Hayward Low detail on miniatures. But that was on my early prints, since then I shelved it and got great results with Elegoo resins and now Anycubic green.

So I guess that will improve as well now with far more experience.

I just filtered my large container of IPA to re-use. My new bottles of ipa I’m holding on to for making hand sanitizer

I have a stash of those gloves from Harbor Freight as they a few months back had a 30% anything under 10 bucks sale. I snagged few boxes. My wife found them and my paper towels the other day called me a hoarder!

Go to an auto parts store and you'll find gloves a plenty. They also often times have cleaning supplies. I got a gallon of simple green concentrate to clean parts with.

With all the stuff happening in the world I cannot believe people didn’t stock up: toilet paper was the least of my concerns. I know I’m set for a long time!

I'm still sitting at 3 gallons of 99% IPA, 170-ish pairs of disposable gloves, 10 sets of P100 replacement filters for my 3M respirator... It helps that I've been doing a lot of printing with PolyJuice which can be washed with water.

I have a case of 99% IPA, a case of 70% IPA wipes, box of gloves, only a few masks, and down to 1000ml resin and 5 spools of PLA.

Anyone who stocked up on this stuff, might want to consider donating it. My wife is a nurse, and the normally readily available PPE has been locked up to ration it. I know that’s not our fault, but we can make a small difference by lending what we have to a more important cause then 3d printing. I personally made all of my IPA into hand sanitizer, and donated it to a church who is providing lunches for kids out of school who rely on school lunches for a meal. There are people all over the place that need this stuff more then us. Just something to think about at least.

I have gloves and that stuff but I ran out of resin and just BARELY got my amazon order in before the changed the shipping stuff so itll be here tomorrow lol wait it out a few week but its 100% worth having both FDM and resin:)

I tray with sanitary alchool 70°, and it works fine. But, for the moment, it's dispear from markets. :D

I just bought some mean green from dollar general, heard it works well, saving the 99 percent for sterlization of prusa head bands for hospitals. Going to dilute that stuff down to 70 percent

99% is recommended, but other grades also work. The lower the % the more time it needs to act. use a soft brush to get into the detailed parts and clear the resin and anything you use will be fine

Have you run a resin calibration test (assuming you have a classic Photon) or the RERF test (if it's a Fauxton) to find out the correct exposure time?

I haven't, but I've been printing nothing but successful prints with the same exposure settings for months, then I started noticing stuff stuck to the FEP vat that progressively got worse and worse until it was unusable. I figured it was probably because I had been using the same FEP liner for about 4 months straight, and it was starting to get cloudy, so I switched it out, but the exact same problem persists.

I should also mention the shape is the exact same size, approximately the same shape as the inner square of the UV Test. This occurs even if I'm printing a small item, about the size of a quarter, right in the middle of the build plate.

Each bottle is different. Ambient temperature affects exposure time as well. Your LED also gradually becomes weaker. You've been lucky so far. Go back to the basics: calibration test first.

Are you running the original Firmware on the printer, if so it could be frame shearing.

I updated it shortly after I got the machine... about June/July of last year, because I was having some issues where it would just die in the middle of a print. Haven't had a single problem (that wasn't operator error) in the 8 months or so since.
