So my first print didn't stick to it's support structures, but I still think the support looks cool. I removed it from the plate and tossed it into my ultrasonic cleaner with 75% distilled water and 25% isopropyl alcohol for 5 minutes. How safe is it likely to be after this? Should I throw it into a window sill for a day before touching it bare handed?

Wife bought me the original Photon for Valentines Day. It's been sitting all week because I've watched all the videos and read articles and seen all the warning signs about the resin and don't leave it in the vat for more than 48 hours, yada yada yada..
I couldn't let this beautiful thing just sit here unused until I had something I needed to print so I opened it all up today and I printed the Test File Cube. It did an outstanding job!
Give it to me straight, how careful do I really need to be with this resin? Obviously anything foreign in the eyes is a bad thing, but excluding the eyes, and I guess consuming it, how dangerous is it really?
Also, when I got done with my test print I didn't have anything I needed to print (and I need to figure out slicing / adding supports) I used one of the paper funnels to funnel the resin back in the container and cleaned everything up. I used alcohol and paper towels to wipe down the top and bottom of the build plate and inside / around the vat.
On a 1 - 10 scale where 1 is not cleaning it at all and 10 is clinically diagnosed OCD. How anal do I really need to be around the resin, in the cleanup afterwards and long term storage of the resin (can it sit in the vat for 30 - 60 days?
I feel like I just gave it a solid 8 or 8.5 on the cleanup and used a lot of paper towels and in hindsight it felt a lot like overkill..
Looking for some honest education here.

3d Printing info

First

Pick your machine and learn IT. Each are a little different even sometimes the same machine maybe different from another unit of the same name as these for the most part are not built by Large numbers.

Next pick a resin and stay with it as you learn your machine and how it works with that resin. Always take notes.

Use the same software on your prints try not to use more then one to out put your Print with as they may have different print reactions that you may or may not be able to control or know what to change.

Next your cleaning station.

Buy gloves and paper towels and cleaning supply.

Your cleaning tank or what ever you come up with.

Use the same cleaning supplies(MeanGreen / Isopropyl alcohol and so on)

I would use 3 tanks one just water for a quick rinse off then one with your choice of cleaner the one to rinse off with (water) before uv box.

Make sure the print is dry before you uv cure the final print.

I use a Professional Disposable Surface Disinfectant Super Sani-Cloth Wipes to last clean off before I uv cure the print. I do this to make sure there are NO SHINNY PARTS as that would me that there maybe be leftover resin on the print.

Next make or buy a UV curing station. Make sure you get one with room to GROW. so you do not buy another again. i use 6 UV led light strips in a foamcore box that I made that is 20x20x20 inches with a door. Great for those Big prints.

Next make a special trash can for your disposals. I bought a standard house trash can 18 gal plastic with a dome lid.Inside the dome lid I hooked up a UV LED light to cure any leftover resin on the paper towels and anything put inside the trash. It has an on / off switch but needs to run for about 1 hr or so after use to make sure it is all curved.

Next make sure you have a plan for all the waste and how to dispose of it the correct way.

I.E. The resin bottles and and trash so it does not end up in the wrong place and cause an issue if someone touches or any animal gets into it.

Make your plan for your printing and understand what could make the best print and the least waste. You will enjoy this hobby so much more if you just TAKE your time and do not be scared to ask questions. Each of us have learned from our own mistakes and the mistakes of others. We have also have to help each other about what we do with our machines and how to make the 3d print field better.

Just remember you WILL FAIL.. Your machine will BREAK... But you need to know why and how to make it back to the promise land of great printing.

Take photos keep notes on each machine. So you know all of what went on.

Like

How many hrs on the machine do to LCD failure and FEP failure and so on. Each machine has parts that have to be changed out.

So know your cost. It is more then just the resin. It is all you cleaning supplies/fep use/lcd wear/power use and so on.

So find out and know what the cost of these parts are and where to get them and how long will that take. Cause waiting 2 weeks for a part is a lot of down time. Keeping some parts in stock and ready for this is great but only do this if you use your machine alot rather then once a month.

This is only a base but it is a great way to start and look at what and how much your hobby will cost.

LAST............ JUST HAVE FUN....

Thanks

Michael Enoches

Lets print the World one piece at a time.

So I'm trying to dispose of my alcohol. I use denaturated alcohol (the pink kind). I left it in the sun with the top open for like a week but:

1) Resin didn't seem to cure that much. There's a lot of browny residue floating around, that doesn't seem like resin to me. Also the alcohol remained very cloudy.
2) The alcohol didn't evaporate. I mean if it did, it's like 5 mm in 7 days. Is this normal? This doesn't seem very convenient.

Is this because I'm not using IPA? This is starting to become a problem because the alcohol is not cleaning well anymore so I have to dispose of it. I tried to recycle it but didn't go very well. Suggestions? Thanks.

Does anyone have suggestions for gluing multiple resin parts together? I've had some issues using CA glue delaminating from post-cured, alcohol washed parts.

Epoxy is still up in the air about it's adhesion durability with a few tests i'm doing right now.

Using more resin and curing isn't always an option either as it's hard to get a wide glue seam to cure and bond evenly when the light cant hit it, such as two larger flat surfaces mating together.

I’m printing in translucent green and I’m getting white residue on my prints after my post processing.
I’m washing in alcohol then room temp water then UV lamp curing
Where is the issue in my process that causes the white stuff?
