May as well participate in the contest being held by @anycubic3d my submission is obviously Small Soldiers related. With that said my best Anycubic print would have to be my 4 inch tall Acrher. I personally modeled this guy using zbrush and printed it on the Photon S. Larger guy has a few parts printed on the same machine. # anycubic

# anycubic

Gotta love our photon!!!

I started to paint the mini have been printing for a month, still not a single fail !

Sometime if you print too small, detail dont come out as good as a bigger model, but im still impressed by this machine everydays.

Im slowly getting low on my first liter of resin, gotta order more soon, but last time i checked, there wasnt any 1 liter of grey left on amazon.

Which color you guys would suggest to buy if grey dont get available soon?

Keep staying awsome ! LETS PRINT MOAR !

Shaun Reno anycubic grey, the one i bought originaly with the printer on amazon

2020-03-24 20:05:04

Israël St-Gelais awesome. I’m having issues with mine still after a few weeks. Any chance you would take a picture of your settings for me?

Israël St-Gelais
2020-03-24 20:07:25

Shaun Reno i used the setting on the chart for resin that is used by most ppl. I leveled the bed with the "read method". Then im auto-orienting and auto-support (70%) in prusaslicer. I export the whole thing in chitubox and VOILA.

Israël St-Gelais
2020-03-24 20:08:26

Ill try to find the chart to post it to you if you would like to

Shaun Reno
2020-03-24 20:08:54

Israël St-Gelais how long do your prints take, say for one mini? The chart looks like it has really long exposure times.

Israël St-Gelais
2020-03-24 20:09:33

Depends, between 5 and 7-8 hours usually. I dont mind the time to get good results

Israël St-Gelais
2020-03-24 20:09:54

Im printing a 8.5 hours one right now

Shaun Reno
2020-03-24 20:10:36

Israël St-Gelais that’s how I feel but on the other hand, people are getting better results in three hours and it’s frustrating.

Israël St-Gelais
2020-03-24 20:11:39

Depend on the size of the mini, usually part under a inch high take around 2-3 hours yes, but im usuallly printing around 10cm high at least

Shaun Reno
2020-03-24 20:11:57

Shaun Reno
2020-03-24 20:13:48

There are a few different choices for grey on the chart. Would you mind taking a pic of your setting screen and sending it to me? I’d really appreciate it.

My latest print :) a caricature of a good friend of mine I sculpted a while back. Printed first time with minimal supports, I'm chuffed to bits! I've had a few issues with the Photon of late so it's good to see it working as it should again. Unmatched quality! Much love to the photon guys! What a machine! ?

Would love to know what you guys think of the sculpt.

Tiana Kovacevic thanks for the interest. I use the standard Anycubic grey resin.
Settings-wise I cure the bottom three layers for 90 seconds and other layer at 9 seconds at 0.05mm ? I make sure there is a nice surface area to the raft also, with very few holes. This gives an even lift to all of the supports and seems to work consistently!

I'm finding the standard Anycubic resin a bit too brittle, and I'm interested in mixing in flexible resin to help reduce this problem a bit. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any suggestions for relatively low cost resins that work on our machines?

2020-03-24 04:25:51

Sirayatech Blu and Tenacious are well spoken for in this community and I personally mix about 20% tenacious into my miniatures that have thin brittle segments

Shawn Michael Rains
2020-03-24 04:30:29

Sirayatech looks like it would suit my purposes fairly well, and The Tenacious flexible is well priced also. Thanks for the suggestions!

Damo Cramp

I use Monocure 3D Rapid flex 100, it’s fantastic

Miles Redman
2020-03-24 04:32:00

Yeah! A liter goes a long way because you rarely want to print in its pure form (though you certainly can)

Ventilate it well, the urethanes are quite noxious

Shawn Michael Rains
2020-03-24 04:37:01

Monocure is a bit more than what I'm willing to spend at the moment. It's actually what prompted this post.

Damo Cramp
2020-03-24 04:38:29

Shawn , that makes sense - it’s a very useful product, I’m local to the manufacturer so delivery costs are really nothing for me so it’s a bit easier

Derek Fontes
2020-03-24 04:52:17

I mixed elegoo abs-like with anycubic cause it was all I had. 50/50 mix and it seems to have some flex to it. Enough that I won't worry about dropping a mode and it breaking.

Ray Sears
2020-03-24 05:32:39

Shawn Michael Rains I have found it to be a little more temperature sensitive than anycubic. If it is chilly I hit with the heat gun a little.

Miles Redman
2020-03-24 05:43:32

I have my unit in an enclosed cabinet and it usually sits at about 80F (~25C) while the machine is running, so I didn't think about that actually!

A couple of weeks ago I was looking at IPA and it was so cheap for 5 litres, I refuse to pay the extortionate prices being asked now.
Does anyone have recommendations on what I can use in the Anycubic Wash & Cure machine?

James Paulsen

Looks like you are probably in the UK, so not sure if it is available, but in the US we have a product called Mean Green, which works wonders. I like it far better than IPA, if I am honest. https://www.amazon.com/....../dp/B01E2JFTUK/ref=sr_1_2......

James Paulsen
2020-03-22 22:25:30

I have to say, I am not sure about the wash and cure machine, I have no experience with it, but I do use it in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Scott Pavlich
2020-03-22 22:26:03

Denatured alcohol from the hardware store...it’s usually near the paint department (at least here in the US it is)

I completed my first resin print! Honestly I'm surprised the machine worked as well as it did I bought it as faulty but minimal work got it running. :D I'm looking to get some water washable resin for the time being can anyone recommend a good brand please?

Need to pick some brains. Recently, everything I print produces a rectangular blob like the one below, regardless of what file I print. Occasionally, it will continue printing beyond the blob, and I'll get a partial structure, or if I'm really lucky, a complete structure with little flappy single layer pancake blobs stuck to it every 5 mm or so.
I've changed FEP liners, releveled twice, made sure the screen is extra clean (running one of my few remaining alcohol wipes over it then using a razor blade to make sure there's no resin stuck to the screen) and there are no visible scratches. I'm using a Kensington USB drive instead of the one that came with the machine. I'm printing with elegoo grey resin (though it did the same thing on my last prints with Anycubic Maroon)

Any ideas what's going wrong or recommendations for what I should check next?

Bob Deblier
2020-03-22 14:01:51

Have you run a resin calibration test (assuming you have a classic Photon) or the RERF test (if it's a Fauxton) to find out the correct exposure time?

Troy Wood
2020-03-22 14:09:47

I haven't, but I've been printing nothing but successful prints with the same exposure settings for months, then I started noticing stuff stuck to the FEP vat that progressively got worse and worse until it was unusable. I figured it was probably because I had been using the same FEP liner for about 4 months straight, and it was starting to get cloudy, so I switched it out, but the exact same problem persists.

Troy Wood
2020-03-22 14:11:00

I should also mention the shape is the exact same size, approximately the same shape as the inner square of the UV Test. This occurs even if I'm printing a small item, about the size of a quarter, right in the middle of the build plate.

Bob Deblier
2020-03-22 14:17:07

Each bottle is different. Ambient temperature affects exposure time as well. Your LED also gradually becomes weaker. You've been lucky so far. Go back to the basics: calibration test first.

Richard Günter Dölz
2020-03-22 16:40:24

Are you running the original Firmware on the printer, if so it could be frame shearing.

Troy Wood
2020-03-22 16:50:21

I updated it shortly after I got the machine... about June/July of last year, because I was having some issues where it would just die in the middle of a print. Haven't had a single problem (that wasn't operator error) in the 8 months or so since.

Sorry I tried searching the group so bear with me. Im on my 3rd attempt at printing the default cube that came on the flash drive. My FEP sheet sounds like a snare, i leveled it with paper, my build plate is pretty darn flat id say. And its pulling nothing up from the resin. I guess that means I need to up the initial layer exposure? Is it common for the default file on the drive to need adjustment? The printers going now so I cant check, do I need to reslice the file to up the exposure or can I adjust it on the machine? Thank you!

John Chrapkowski
2020-03-21 07:46:29

It’s made for the transparent green I believe. That’s got a fairly low exposure time. What resin are you using?

Aaron Dunkerly
2020-03-21 07:47:29

I picked up a bottle of black since my printer did not have any sample resin. That would probably be fairly different then?

John Chrapkowski
2020-03-21 07:49:39

Aaron Dunkerly yeah. Black needs more time in my experience. Probably because transparent allows more uv to penetrate a little better. Do you get the base on the build plate or is it all on the FEP

Aaron Dunkerly
2020-03-21 07:52:23

It gets on the build plate too. It gets submerged a tad when its printing. Bottle says I need to set the exposure to 60 seconds.

Robin MacNeil
2020-03-21 10:26:30

This sheet will help you a LOT in setting the proper exposure times: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j......

Quite pleased with this one. My photon is a great little machine. But, I did notice some FDM like z-banding(?) near the lower socket. It's not as visible on the opposite side. Any insight as to what may have caused it? Aside from that and likely some amateur placed supports, it turned out fantastic.

I did not, I haven't tried to hollow a model yet.

Fahrid van Uitert
2020-03-21 05:45:06

Derek Fontes there’s your answer probably. Printing solid models will occasionally result in lines or shifts in your print

Hallo zusammen,
