Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » SKS

Good day!

I want to share my first work using 3D printing. And this is also my first experience with 3D sculpting. I started work with mastering # Mudbox and really loved this program. I hope it will replenish and develop, because, Despite the lack of many useful features from Zbrush, Mudbox is very convenient and has an absolutely intuitive and comfortable interface.

For printing, I used Model Clear resin and Model Cherry from # HARZLabs ,

Model Clear used for the eyes, water droplets on the wings and an imitation of a cloud, followed by tinting in alcohol with a caller from washing with Model Cherry. The result is quite an interesting result.

The wings were printed on another printer, FDM format. As a result, I am convinced that for most of my tasks, I need very high detail, which is available only to DLP, LCD printers so far.

I printed an N95 mask on my FDM printer.. But valves can be printed on the Photons for ventilators using the right resin..

450euros per litre!?

Sydnee Davidson
2020-03-29 08:16:59

Isn’t resin toxic? The stuff most of us hobby printers isn’t food safe. So I can’t imagine it’d be good to have resting on your skin or breath through. It’d have to be the right kind of resin.

Mark Rothman
2020-03-29 08:27:33

Henry Jackson there are a lot more than that, but biomedical resin is pretty expensive.

Richard Humble
2020-03-29 17:18:46

Sydnee Davidson yes. Exactly the problem.

Mark Rothman
2020-03-29 20:22:56

Sydnee Davidson , most of it is, absolutely.. However they do have very specific food safe and biomedical safe resin that can be used.. It's just VERY expensive..

Gary Slovinsky
2020-03-30 00:12:31

Mark Rothman they even have an anti-bacterial PLA too. I ran across a YouTube video for mask printing using the anti-bacterial filament. And I believe it was on the pricey side too. But likely a lot more cheaper than specialized resin.

Mark Rothman
2020-03-30 04:35:40

Gary Slovinsky PTEG, as a plastic, is generally considered food safe on the fillament side, but you still run the risk of the FDM printing with 'holes' and gaps, ever with the best of settings.

Gary Slovinsky
2020-03-30 04:41:33

Mark Rothman I wasn’t referencing Food related printing. I believe the original post was related to medical style respirators and the like. I was only bringing up that I viewed a video of a respirator being printed but using an anti-bacterial filament. My sole point is there is such a thing as an anti-bacterial filament.

Seeing more and more ppl looking at printing masks. It's a noble gesture but these printers are not the tools for the job.
The materials are not biocompatible. If you can find a biocompatible material, the next problem is they're rigid. A rigid mask is not going to seal. You can add a seal but the seal needs to be biocompatible too. The seals I'm seeing ppl add are quite thin.
If you're lucky you may get it to seal to your face but it won't remain sealed when you move your face or your jaw. Also facial anthro differs greatly between ppl, it won't fit for others.

Masks need to either be all soft or textile materials or if it has a rigid frame, also have a large compliant soft seal. Look at dust masks and CPAP masks.

Perhaps a better idea is to print a mould to mould the masks out of biocompatible silicone.

There's still the problem of how you're going to provide a proper level of filtration. You could adapt to an off the shelf filter. If you hack together some do it yourself filter you may do more harm than good

Sen Kun

Given how deep the shit is with shortages that the CDC is even asking frontliners to make do with bandanas (!), I say carry on printing. Anything is better than nothing.

Biocombatibilty. Photopolymers once fully cured are just plastics. No worries about leaching we're not talking about stic king it in your mouth or implants.

https://www.researchgate.net/....../311422937......

Rigidity and sealing. Choice of resin is key. Flex resin, etc. are available.

Filtration. Again, anything is better than nothing. Because, viral load.

https://mobile.twitter.com/....../status/1239560638239838215

Finally, wearing a mask is not all about protecting yourself. Don't go getting a false sense of security with one. All it does is reduce the risk for you and (if you're asymptomatic) everyone around you. The more people that wear a mask, the better.

John Driggers
2020-03-22 14:23:09

CDC is telling HCP that a bandana is a last resort in the absence of PPE. What we are printing is the same, except you are proposing to use photopolymers which contain unknown monomers.

Luke Klinkenberg
2020-03-22 14:29:41

The material on your link seems ok at in least short term. For sure if things got desperate I'd wear whatever i could get my hands on.

Sure it's not on your mouth but it is in the wet air path which is subject to tighter regulations than just skin contact as it reaches mucosal membranes. You shouldn't fit these to someone effected by the virus in case it was an irritant and worsened the pneumonia

Sen Kun
2020-03-22 15:40:57

Absolutely.

" The median-fit factor of the homemade masks was one-half that of the surgical masks. Both masks significantly reduced the number of microorganisms expelled by volunteers.. "

Homemade masks as an alternative to commercial face masks. Better than nothing. This is the situation no?

John Driggers
2020-03-22 15:57:10

Sen Kun that a sewing machine and a tshirt is better option? Yes.

Jacob Palmer

There isnt much point making masks. They do very little to prevent the spread as its not an especially airborne disease. Mostly they increase the amount of times you touch your face (re-adjusting) and increase the likeleyhood of contaminating yourself accidently.

Ricky Wong
2020-03-18 09:24:05

Jacob Palmer I find it amazing how the west is peddling this bullshit. I'm so sick of explaining it.... but hear we go again.

In asian countries where a mask for both protection and prevention is a courtesy.

Imagine this you are in a super market just minding your own business someone walking towards you coughs. The current estimates indicate a cough has approximately a 4 meter range. It had contaminated everything within range of the cough the virus is so small it has the potential to stay airborne for a few minutes leaving a mist for the next person to walk through. Let's say the person isn't wearing a mask and coughs onto their hand instead, they then proceed to pick through the super market goods so the virus can be spread for the next person to touch the goods.
Now imagine the same person is wearing a mask the majority of the stuff coming out of them will get caught. Any particles lingering in the air is caught on the next mask used by others before transmission.

Covid19 does not display symptoms from 4 days to 28 days but you are a carrier and contagious from the first day.

Unless the west changes its bs about masks your going to hurt a lot more than asia.

Anyway do your own research and use logic and critical thinking. Not meaning any insult just want you to think about it.

N95 mask makes sure to fit it well and cover both mouth and nose.

Stay safe.
