Plate isn’t tight? Is that a hollow print? Holes?

Wonder if Formlabs will be selling this in bottles or just their proprietary cartridges.

Charlie Howe their machine use lasers, they are much more powerful and need less sensitive materials, LCD would not have enough power to harden their resin.

Phrozen TR250LV is pretty awesome stuff

Phrozen nylon-like resin is very similar to Siraya BLU. Good stuff.

Formlabs tough resin is made for laser. If you try it on LCD you will need crazy cure times like 60 sec for each layer and I dont mean base layers.

Someone compared tough resins with each other?

I hope your problem is not the same as mine. I had two lines similar to what you have. Allways on the same layer - same height. It tourns out, it was metal particle on the rail. I had cleaned both rails but the problem did not go away since the particle had made a small dent in the rail. I had to order new rails... still waiting for them.

Might be... Or something on the stepper screw?

You just have to make sure you stir it up before you use it again

I kept mine in the vat for a year. A quick stir and it was good to go

Just press home a bunch and use the plate moving to mix it. Don't have to get anything resiny that isn't already covered in it that way. :)

Yeah, I keep mine loaded up. Usually swish it around a little with the spatula before printing if it's been sitting for a while.

Make sure you keep the door closed if you are letting it sit so no dust or random particles get into it.


Oh!! One thing to keep in mind if you are letting it sit there is that the resin is usually warm while the machine is running because of the LCD screen. So when it sits there for a while it tends to be a little colder. So if you are going to let it sit for a while I would definitely check the temperature before you start a print.

Ambient temp is still significaltly lower than how hot the LCD gets.

At the very least you should empty the vat back into the bottle and shake it regardless.

Mine sat for a couple months between uses. Just stir it thoroughly before your next use, and you will be golden. Also, I would recommend covering your vat/machine to prevent UV light from leaving in

I have two photons fitted with a printed top cover and the resin is fine after many weeks. There is a filament cover on thingiverse.

the difference between no light and "some" light is quite a bit, if it's in my garage with no light other than LED task lights when I'm in there, I have had it go weeks, in my hobby room with some sunlight coming through the shades, through the UV filters on the case, I get a skim on the top in 2-3 days.

James the other option is depending how good you are at splicing etc is cut it down the middle curing then glue and stuff back together

no problem, I had the same problem with a few chunky models. now I hollow almost everything. Saves a ton of resin also.

To me it looks like a USB error. Is it the first time to makes that fault? Try formatting the stick and re-slice your file. Can you share the stl with me?

Could also just need a reslice of the same file

Anders Jens Ramm ok cheers. Its been doing it on a few things so making me thing it could be the stick amongst other problems. I'll give it a try. The file was purchased from a guy on my mini factory

Yeah because for Opaque resin that detail is amazing. My Anycubic opaques are soft. I get insane detail from Blu and Clear Green but grey (all brands I have tried) are soft.

I'm super happy to see some higher exposure on here. So many people think that the less exposure you use the better the detail, but it's actually both under and over exposure losses detail and in my opinion under exposure is worst.

Yessik Ziiq lol no. I simply refer to my RERF result. So far my prints have been great, so I don’t know if it is the photon s that bring the curing time down or what.

My latest. 0.05 with 7 sec exposure.

The numbers on the RERF tests are meant to be multiplied by 2, same with the original photon resin exposure test. It's not testing 1-8 seconds, it's testing 2-16 seconds.

I’ve found that a soak in hot water after your ipa wash and rinse softens the supports an they just come right off.

John Simpson I don’t actually have IPA at present so just been using hot soapy water, it does soften but still leaves hard bits right on the object itself. I’m sure I’ll find other ways, all trial and error.

Based on the photos it looks like u could just print it flat without supports.

Revin Leong might try without supports, do you mean flat vertically or horizontally?

Daniel Weatherhead you could try both ways. Do check with the slicers auto supports to verify if u really need supports.

John Simpson Is there a way to reduce or eliminate the cloudiness? Just printed something in clear resin overnight; I was hoping the hot water trick would let me get the supports off cleanly, but if it's going to impact the clarity, maybe I'd better look for a different method.
