Primed and ready for some color.
Just did a quick auto support on this one, think I need to do another with some careful manual supports....

LAYER SHIFT FIX

I've recently had a problem with layer shift on parts of my print. They appear to be inconsistent, but noticeable on a print with a full print bed, and most noticeable on large flat surfaces. Doing a search in this group, it is an issue that comes up regularly - nobody uses the search function for previous posts on the issue. What did strike me was the number of random suggestions offered by the same people, including firmware revision, FEP, levelling, star sign, recent blood sacrifices, you name it. (Have you tried rotating the printer anticlockwise before a job, and have your dog sit facing the door to ward off spirits?)

The answer is out there, and it's a pretty straight forward z-wobble fix that doesn't require a machined z- axis reinforcement or self-leveller.

It does require a partial disassembly of the unit to adjust the eccentric nut in the centre of the linear bearing. I performed this procedure and the shift has gone.

Experimenting with a incubator heater. So far so good. The housing is just temp as it was the only colors i had floating around at the time. Going to use black PETG when it gets here. The housing barely gets warm which is a plus. Setting the heater is easier said than done, but its getting there.

Update, I had an email from the manufacturer of the heaters and they told me "Regarding IncuKit Mini heaters. The circuit board has a function if the fan stops turning it cuts power to the heaters. So it is protected". So its a lot more safer than those PTC heaters!

How do people deal with layer shift? (See pic) I bought low shrinkage resin to get this accurate as possible printed with .02 6 seconds originally and then upped to 7 thinking that might help. I also printed it in both x and y about 23.794 (whatever the degrees are for that layer height suggested) for accuracy and reduced suction. This is not hollow although do you think that would help or would it maybe collapse a bit inwards reducing accuracy during curing? I also added a ton of supports hoping to get the damn thing to stay in place.

Got my Photon last week. Looks like it shipped with 4.2.17. Do I need to update? If so, which version is recommended?
