Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » resin

Along with possibly picking up an ultrasonic cleaner I'm thinking about trying some simple green or similar cleaner in place of IPA. For those who have used something like this: Does it cloud up as it gets saturated (i.e. is it easy to tell if it's time to change it out), and how do you dispose of it? With IPA I put it into a container in the sun, let the resin separate and solidify, then filter & re-use the leftover IPA. Does this work with the cleaners as well?

I’m totally new and using Mr. Clean in an ultrasonic cleaner and wondering about disposal as well. I’m interested to hear what others have to say ?

I don't think I quite got a responce a while ago when I asked how are you guys printing your small rings with detailed holes in them, can you please please please point me in the right direction,

These are very small buttons and letters just won't print proberly.... What am I missing in the settings to help this.

Resin is anycubic grey for now but will be a black once I got them pri ting correctly.

normal exposure to 30s?? that is overcuring them to the point of frying! what resin are you using?

Lestat De Lioncourt
2020-03-19 00:10:40

Zena Andreou anycubic grey

Zena Andreou
2020-03-19 00:11:28

no way! try 11 seconds normal exposure. and like 60 for bottom layer exposure

Chad Burleson
2020-03-19 00:12:08

Change normal exposure to 7 seconds. Everything else stays the same

Lestat De Lioncourt
2020-03-19 00:12:37

Zena Andreou .... What actually Is bottom exposure....

Lestat De Lioncourt

Hi all. Has anyone tried tinting resin? I'm looking for a brown, but haven't really found a reliable source yet. Any suggestions?

Alcohol inks should Work Like for normal Resin casting

Micah Vestal
2020-03-18 23:21:36

You just have to experiment. I have tried inks and resin pigments. They do make the resin more brittle, but they work.

Mix red and green resin?

Mike Seely

I've been using the Elegoo water washable resins...I'll have to give that a try

What's the best cheapest castable resin a d what settings do you use please and thank.you

Keith Yinger

Trying to find some good cheap castable resin myself. Anything I've seen so far it's about $60 and up for 500 mL which seems a little bit crazy expensive to me considering regular resin is only 16 to $18 for 500 ml. How do any of the regular resin burn out of a mold or do they?

Kenny Prestia
2020-03-18 22:46:54

I've only done wax injections

Keith Yinger
2020-03-18 23:03:30

Kenny Prestia another thought I had is if the program exists where you can take like a ring that you've made and have the program build a mold around it. Then you could export the mold and print that, inject it with some wax and use that for your casti ng. Where printing the ring by itself might cost $0.25 for the resin, printing a mold for it might cost 50 to 75 but I think it would still be cheaper than castable resin. I don't know if such a thing is even possible but it's just some idea that I had.

Ryan Neal
2020-03-18 23:30:55

Keith Yinger I've seen some people do it. But it burns off dangerous chemicals... They also did the burn outside

Keith Yinger
2020-03-18 23:41:14

Ryan Neal I'm outside whenever I'm doing anything with my Forge anyways. It was the ash residue that it might leave behind that I was thinking about. I've got a gas mask on whenever the forge is burning and I'm near it. As far as burning off dangerous chemicals that thought didn't really occur to me. Couldn't be any more dangerous than zinc fumes when you're melting brass or something like that I protect myself from anyways. I'm going to have to sit down with something like Fusion 360 and see if I can figure out how to make molds. It seems like you can use it to create molds I'm just not sure how. Also not sure if I can take for example a ring and tell it to make a mold of this?

Ryan Neal
2020-03-18 23:42:35

I've seen some formlabs stuff claiming to be able to make molds for low temp melt metals.

As for castable resin, I use the lost wax method w/ castable resin

Keith Yinger
2020-03-18 23:51:46

I'm hoping to do Lost wax casting also just trying to think of a different way than spending 60 bucks or better on castable resin. I would 3D print a mold then use it to make a wax cast. Then go about lost wax casting in the normal way.

What are some signs that your resin is getting old, and has been recovered, filtered and re-used too many times? Is there a way to revitalize it, e.g. by mixing with fresh resin?

Up to the line is around 100 ml.

Nelson Tejada
2020-03-18 22:41:33

150 ml I think

Nelson Tejada
2020-03-18 22:45:46

Pour resin up to the line where the chamfer starts in the vat, about a quarter up from the FEP. This is about 125ml. From the Photonsters github

Cobey Schmidt
2020-03-18 22:53:16

125ml per spec

Jeremy Mongoose Harris
2020-03-18 23:10:10

It's better to not fill all the way. Resen gets into the screws and the ball joint. Gums up the works and needs a deep cleaning

Scott Pavlich
2020-03-18 23:59:17

150ml is a safe max

Artur Kawa

I love how so many people are guessing at something that is easily measured.

Aaron Strome

when i measure out 100ml in a beaker it goes just barely over that line...

Mario Hippmann
2020-03-19 03:37:53

Aaron Strome dont make me weak, Just started a 9h Print 3 hours ago. IT needs 110ml. I am Not coming Home until 10 hours ?

Aaron Strome
2020-03-19 03:46:35

you have a lot of things to work out if you are judging my what chitubox say it weighs. is it hollow that adds a bit for trapped resin the surface resin that is left on it after the print and i always add 30ml more than chitubox says since it has been wrong many times before

Mario Hippmann
2020-03-19 03:49:41

Aaron Strome
2020-03-19 03:51:08

yeah unfortunately i think you're @#$%'ed sorry... unless you have someone who can add more resin or hit pause until you get home..

Mario Hippmann
2020-03-19 03:52:08

Aaron Strome my girlfriend is Not able to fill it . And Pause makes ugly Lines ?

Aaron Strome
2020-03-19 03:54:19

ugly lines versus a headless print.. hmmmm

Luiz Junior
2020-03-19 12:43:56

Mario Hippmann that’s because the temperature of the resin inside vat is higher than the one you are adding. So mixing them both will change resin temperature inside vat and also how much it’s expand when the layer is curing. If you are able to add some heat to the resin in the bottle, this effect should be less or none.

Mario Hippmann
2020-03-19 14:26:35

Aaron Strome yes i got fuc*** ? Just s little Bit was Missing

Mario Hippmann
2020-03-19 14:28:17

Luiz Junior rly? Thats the reason for the Lines ? I would have a Heat blower, but now its to late ?

Aaron Strome
2020-03-19 14:29:36

Luiz Junior
2020-03-19 22:08:55

Mario Hippmann you can pause and resume without add more resin and check that the lines won’t appear, only if you add cold resin to it. I’m thinking on a way to heat it easy...

This is very different from whats being posted in this group, but it might be of interesst to some! ?

Im an artist, and will be using the printer to experiment. This one is a test for a light-piece, with hollow resin tubes with LED inside. Over and under the piece is a holographic PVC sheets.

The idea is to make a larger wavy piece put together of several smaller ones, like tentacles.

Good day to all!

I share the fully finished result of working with tinted resin.

Earlier, I showed crystals immediately after printing, before the transparent protective varnish is applied, but now the new Croc is ready and you can see how unusual and interesting crystals look under a glossy varnish. # HARZLabs Model Clear resin, tinted in a translucent sapphire color, has acquired interesting gradients in different thicknesses of the product. On luminous crystals, beautiful transitions are clearly visible, from saturated blue to reddish-purple.

By the way, cute Croc is still searching for a loving home!)

I have a fauxton.

It has worked just fine using the settings from the spreadsheet with the anycubic green it came with but i'm about to move on to the anycubic purple eco-resin and there are no settings recorded yet. Likewise, as a fauxton, it cant use the photon calibration test from github.

Is the any test i can use with a Fauxton?

Or does anyone either have good settings for purple eco-resin?

thanks in advance

If the so-called "Fauxton" is the Photon S innards in the Photon case, simple logic would suggest that the Photon S test can be used.

Christopher King
2020-03-18 16:57:55

I thought fauxton has the original Photon LED rather than the upgraded -S version. i figured that would mean different print times and therefore the -S calibratoin test wouldnt be accurate. But I dont know ,hence the enquiry

Tim Borschel
2020-03-18 17:09:14

I'm pretty sure the fauxton just has the photon s motherboard, everything else is the same as the photon.

Tim Borschel
2020-03-18 17:10:15

If you cant read the .photon file you need to upgrade the firmware to 5.x.xx or whatever the v5 firmware is

Christopher King
2020-03-18 17:21:42

its not the .photon file im having a problem. its gcode for the resin xp finder off github. I'm hoping to avoid multiple subpar test prints while i dial in the settings for the new resin

Bob Deblier
2020-03-18 21:24:41

Christopher King the LED wasn't upgraded - just the original CBD mainboard replaced with the one from the Photon S.

Daniel Kottmair
2020-03-18 21:25:37

There is one on Thingiverse for the Fauxton S..
