This a kind warning for people who keep overfilling their vats. If you're filling past the bottom part of the attachment the build platform is screwed onto then you'll most likely get failed prints or worse.

Resin can enter the space between the attachment and build platform, eventually climbing and lubricating the screws. (Google "Capillary Action" for understanding how liquids can climb enclosed spaces.)

There's good possibility of resin reaching the ball bearing keeping your build platform fastened in place. This will cause the build plate to start moving during prints; which, at a minimum, causes failed prints and in worse cases damages or destroys your FEP's and/or screens.

If you do need to overfill the vat for a large print, start the print and add resin when the platform has risen a bit - leaving plenty of room for additional resin.

Credit: Picture borrowed from another forum. Note the resin sitting onto platform screws.

EDIT: Reworded it. Thanks for Nick Williams for the tip.

I'm setting up a print of multiple parts of a mech. If one part overhangs another , will it print if it's well supported?
Another way of asking is. Should I keep the Z axis of a multiple file print to just one file?

Hi all. Has anyone figured out a good fix for the lumpy texture that forms on the side of larger objects that face the build plate?
Other threads on this topic seem to fade out with no clear answer.
I’ve tried adjusting the orientation of parts but even at a 30-40 degree angle there is still a lot of distortion on that surface.
I’ve tried multiple resins and multiple exposure times with each to see if the issue stops, but nothing helps yet.
Thanks!

Hello! I was finally able to afford a photon thanks to that Amazon deal yesterday, and just wanted to know if you guys had any tips or guides for an absolute beginner. Like, no experience whatsoever. I understand it might be a while before I’m able to get a successful print and I’m tempering my expectations, but I thought it couldn’t hurt to turn to the experts to maybe expedite things. Thanks guys!

Have any of you tried printing this on the photon? I am guessing it has to be split into multiple parts using something like mesh mixer. What worked, or didn't, for you?

[Edit] I do not have an FDM printer. So the Photon is my only option for printing parts. I already have a nice 4" duct venting my shop outside (complete with electric fan). So 4" drier host makes a lot of sense for me

Friends don't let friends use Anycubic firmware version 4.2.19. It has multiple issues (fan cutting in/out at layer change, file browsing bugs). A couple of hours before Anycubic released it, they had a firmware 4.2.18 on their site. I managed to download that before they took it down. I spent a good portion of this evening testing, and can report that it has neither of the issues documented in the video. It should also have the fix for frame shearing although since there are no release notes we don't know for sure at this time. In any case I shared it to the github.
