I keep getting failed prints with air bubbles or non connected surfaces. These stepped rings are only 2mm tall with a 1mm step.

Printing flat onto the bed at .1, I’ve increased the number of base layers from 5 to 8 to 10, increased exposure time from 8 to 10 to 11, increased light off time from 5 to 8 to allow resin to flow between layers and still the same issues.

Any thoughts?

Hey guys,

I've been receiving a lot of positive feedback about my clear prints and how to achieve the "right out of the printer" look. So here some of the things I found out during my printing.

1. Biggest cause of yellowing is UV exposure. You may have heard to keep your prints out of direct sunlight as it will eventually yellow the print. This also applies to both the UV curing stage and exposure during printing. These are the 2 ways I've tackled it:

- Switched to water washable resin. I used Polyjuice's water washable resin, but I'm sure other brands will do just as fine. Other than using water instead of IPA, the huge advantage is that it does not require a UV light to cure. This removes one of the 2 biggest yellowing factors.

- Use fresh resin everytime you print. The second biggest yellowing factor is constant exposure within the printer itself. I find the resin will start to yellow after 9 hours of printing. Therefore you may want to measure how much resin you need per print (so you can refill the vat after every print) or increase the layer height to keep larger prints under the 9 hour time limit.

You can really see the difference with the UV exposure in the last photo. The model on the left was printed in eSUN clear resin which was cured using a UV nail lamp + the resin was constantly used over the course of a week. The right model is using the water washable resin that was fresh from the bottle.

2. After drying, you'll notice that the prints turn cloudy/opaque. To combat that, you can spray 2 or more medium coats of automotive clear coat (I have not tried other types). You can see the before and after in the second and third pictures. Do note that you need to coat both sides of the print to get the effect, meaning hollowed out prints will not be nearly as transparent since one side can't get sprayed.

Tldr: use fresh water washable resin and clear coat.

OK i am old, 48 years as a bench jeweller. trying to prove you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.

Ok I did the sample cube, followed all the instrctions .. CAME OUT FANTASTIC. Made it small to save time..

Today i tried a ring..after 2 HOURS i could finally see under the build plate ( i put a bit too much resin in) and there was nothing there :(

I think that when i levelled the plate using the piece of paper method , i was over cautious?? with a 0.1mm down it was too tight and then 0.1mm up it was too loose.. I left it loose as i didnt want the Z to move down too far and break something.. When i clean out the tray tank the starting raft was attached to the plastic film.. Do you think that is why it didnt work . the build plate didnt lower enough to let the raft attach ??

Ive attached my 3 screen shots just in case i am doing somthing else glaringly obviously wrong..

would appreciate any one help if you dont mind please..

Hi there, i just did the "photon s resin exposure finder" with anycubic black, what do you think is the best? In my opinion they all look shity :(

What for settings domyou recommend for anycubic black? I took the settings from the google list for photon s, but iam not sure if i should try 7 seconds normal exposure time.

Hello all! I just got my Anycubic Photon printer last night. I'm 100% new to 3D printing (I'm primarily an artist that creates 3d models and illustration but I've always wanted to have my models printed physically.) I have TWO Questions, with images provided.

Firstly, I printed a tiny benchy as a test of the Printer.
The print went well for most of the model but towards the end, Benchy fell off the print bed for some reason. I found it floating in the resin vat.
Could this be due to a leveling issue, or perhaps an exposure duration issue? Or a mix of both? Any advice in identifying the issues when it comes to learning the mysterious process of printing as a newbie to all this?
I believe the settings in the file were as follows

Layer Thickness: 0.05
Exposure time: 10.5
Off Time: 1
Bottom Exposure Time: 80
Bottom Layers: 8

Secondly,
I want to print the model I made of one of my characters. He's definitely more complex than a basic Benchy Boat, and I used the provided Slicer software to auto-generate supports. My question for this model would be:
1. Does it need supports added at the tip of the braid and sidebangs? Or will those (ideally) cure to the printer bed and form as it rises?
2. Would the settings shown in the image be adequate exposure and layer thickness time for this type of a model?

Sorry for all the noob questions. But I appreciate any input, as well as any helpful links and resources so I can do some reading on my own as well.
