Hello! I'm brand new to printing! Just got my photon/resin in the mail and it waiting on my ethanol. I'm super excited to start printing, I've been obsessively watching the videos on setting up and starting to print.

I've got Siriya tech fast resin, and I found a PDF file describing what the settings I need, so don't worry about that.

Are there any quick tips you wish you had known when you first started? I'm excited but very nervous about starting.

Hi everyone, thanks for the add to the group. I got my Anycubic Photon last week. Test print came out great on the clear resin they supplied. Using settings I found on videos and the guide spreadsheet I jumped in and printed my first miniature... Really happy with the quality and detail that came out but ran into a few issues.

Marauder from Battletech. 6mm scale.

I learned a lot from this... Bottom layers exposure was too long. Too many bottom layers as well, I really struggled to get it off the plate.

Also, and why I am posting, the supports really got me. I followed the popular videos and added tonnes of supports. Really thought I'd covered all the islands and stress points. However, they all fused together and made it really hard to get off. I even snapped a toe off the model and part joined onto the leg as a solid piece.
I guess it's because the scale was so small I never needed that many but looking for advice for anyone who prints in that sort of size and if you do mechs that is a bonus.

(Pepsi cap added for scale and blue model is from an ender 3 for quality comparison).

Thanks!

I switched from Elegoo standard grey to Anycubic standard grey. Also put in a new FEP. Why is my exposure test now full of tiny Swiss cheese holes?

I could use a little help interpreting this. Ran the exposure test off the Photonsters GitHub using Anycubic Grey resin. I've done a few prints that came out fine. The test cube came out great except for the lettering on the base seemed a little "squished". I've also attached the settings I used for that print, which I got off the online spreadsheet everyone references.

I've gotten these holes/bubbles in the base of every print so far and they showed up again on the exposure test file. Are these just air bubbles? The LCD and fep are clean and clear.

To me it looks like 7 has the best overall balance in this test but since I'm new I'd appreciate any thoughts or tips or confirmation.

What would cause this to happen? Printed it saw this happend, checked the file on the validator and didnt see this printed it again and it happend again, would that be just the usb stick? Currently using the factory usb. Printed a different file and it came out just fine.

Only other problem ive experienced was it printing the first couple layers and then getting an error and stop, i would retry the same file again and it would work

Comparing Anycubic Gray vs. Elegoo Gray Standard. I'm thinking I like Anycubic Gray more. The two figures on the left (the evil wizard and the guy with two swords) were printed with Elegoo Gray Standard. The two figures on the right (the elf archer and the elf wizard) were printed in Anycubic Gray. I did resin tests for both resins on Photon S, printed at 170% of standard mini size.

- Anycubic Gray: 0.03, 5.25s exposure, 8 layers, 60s bottom layers. Printed at 70 degrees. The elf archer and wizard were done in these settings. My resin test had looked best at 6s.

- Elegoo Gray Standard: The evil wizard was done at 0.03, 10s exposure, 8 layers, 80 bottom layers. The guy with two swords was done at 0.03, 8s exposure, 8 layers, 80 bottom layers. Both printed at 70 degrees. They both seem over-exposed, yet my resin test looked best at 10s.

For Elegoo, should I go down to 7s or 6s? Or do you think it's not going to get crisper than this? The test falls apart at 3s.

Does sanding the build plate really make a difference? Ever since adding the Flex100 to the Anycubic Gray, I cannot get the print to stick. Always pills off.
