Really? Another one of these posts???? Pretty much the whole world knows it’s impossible to find.

Bert Harvey
2020-03-27 05:22:11

Great. Have you reached out to your local clinics to see if they need it and if theyre accepting donations?

Phez Darryn Stanmore
2020-03-27 05:25:44

Obviously just a post for the attention!

Shawn Michael Rains
2020-03-27 05:30:01

Isn't that the entire point of social media?

Jeremiah Chetwood
2020-03-27 05:33:35

Wasn't for attention, in a small town, anything that can be used for clinic goes there. Mask and things like that are needed I dont have any of those. But thank you.

Why do people brag about getting critical medical supplies for their hobby during a pandemic?

Kevin Thomas

I'm just using denatured...works fine

Scott Pavlich
2020-03-27 05:56:27

Andy Turtle Consiglio Because they want to appear more important than others

Eric Hall

You might consider donating that to a healthcare facility that could use it. Some people are just too self absorbed in themselves.

Tyler Star and it’s also called an executive order that has criminalized the hoarding of necessary supplies. Don’t be an asshole.

Andy Turtle Consiglio , nobody “bragged” about “getting critical medical supplies” for any reason.

He simply stated that he was glad that he got a sufficient supply *before* the pandemic.

2020-03-27 09:48:37

Dallas Winston Fitzgerald you, or anyone, is going to be really hard pressed to convince anyone that 6 bottles of rubbing alcohol constitutes an amount in excess of reasonable home, business, or personal use. Not to mention, ipa requires a reasonable stretch to even be covered as a "disinfecting device" under that EO.

Bob Smith
2020-03-27 09:51:00

I gave mine to the missus to use at the hospital where she works. They need it more than us right now.

Jake Walker

Chris Christiansen what printer are you using and which parts are you producing? I'm curious

Because it was purchase before the crisis.
This poster planned a little ahead. Unlike the the politicians who create death panels instead of stocking up on ventilators 5 years ago after last crisis.

Chris Christiansen
2020-03-27 10:13:38

Jake Walker photon and a Mars, I’ve printed a few ventilator parts for what they use but mostly been making those copper 3D reuseable masks you add the bits of filter pad to

Clint B. Kauffman
2020-03-27 10:18:14

Dallas Winston Fitzgerald
Try reading the whole article. Six bottles is not hoarding.
Those like the guy with garage full of supplies that he cleaned out stores is as low as it goes. They are after companies with warehouses full of supplies that are being marked up or slow shipped to drive up prices.

Jake Walker
2020-03-27 10:18:24

Chris Christiansen so those have been accepted in the medical community?

Chris Christiansen
2020-03-27 10:20:18

Jake Walker only if your using medical/dental grade resin, some hospitals will even swing for antimicrobial/foodsafe resin but you’d have to talk to your local hospitals, a lot of places are different, I’ve been able to make them for my wife and sister in laws hospitals and am waiting on a reply from one other, but two others said they wouldn’t accept them

Adaś Miałczyński
2020-03-27 11:00:00

Bert Harvey who hurt you man?

Bert Harvey
2020-03-27 11:54:30

I worked in health care and biotech for years. I know a lot of the medical staff currently risking everything to help people infected. I'm currently running my printers around the clock printing ppe gear to try to help. A nursing home I used to work in has been identified as a corona-cluster, with 24 cases and more projected as more testing is done, with a number of the infected not expected to survive it. People I know through their families.

so, yeah, I'm taking this fucking seriously and I'm fucking tired of the shitbags 1) bragging about medical supplies they have that their community needs, which they're using for a fucking hobby 2) the pieces of shits white-knighting for those bragging pricks.

I have a dumb question but google isnt helping. I am wanting to print a small piece for my dishwasher utensil rack. Can resin handle the temp of the dishwasher 140° and hot water?

我有個愚蠢的問題, 但google沒有幫助. 我想為我的洗碗機utensil架列印一小塊. 樹脂能處理洗碗機溫度140°和熱水嗎?

I used to have the problem that my plate would never move even when loosened. Now it stays loose no matter how much I tighten it. I suspect that I have resin or debris inside. I see several other who had this problem and the solution was to take the plate apart. However, the recommendations just say to take it apart without elaboration. What tool do I need to take the plate apart?

Thanks to anyone who can provide insight.

ETA: I was able to remove 2 screws from the plate but the other two will not budge (I fear stripping them). Thoughts on how to remove them?

Check to make sure you don't have two set screws. Sometimes they mess up put second on top of the first. Back it all the way out and see if there is another one in there.

i have a stripped screw as well. i just put the whole thing in my ultrasonic for 10minutes

Kempster Kevin
2020-03-27 09:46:14

Drill out the heads, start with a a small drill bit and work you way up to the head diameter. Go slow and eventually you should be able to gently pry up the plate and pop the heads off. Just had to do that on a vat where one screw stripped.

Not sure what happened at the end but as you can see I’ve managed to print my first, designed by me, print. Took a little time to cut away tiny supports with the pliers. The only thing I’m not sure is the uv light, I think, seems to have dulled it, was crystal clear when I took it off. Love it when a print works. ?

翻譯年糕

Josh Berkley
2020-03-27 15:12:38

The clear-ness you are seeing is the uncured resin filling in the tiny layer lines that refract light. You can get some of that back by clear coating your clear prints. It would even better if they're flat and you can sand then clear coat

原文網址 Drew Doll

What do people use to help bring more flexibility to their prints? I've seen a few products claiming it prints a flexible material but they are fairly expensive.

翻譯年糕

Greg Chapman
2020-03-27 05:04:09

5% Monocure rapid flex

Jacob Hale
2020-03-27 05:05:41

Adding a 30% ratio of flex 100 to an existing resin will improve the flexibility, the higher the ratio, the higher flexibility. Not cheap of course, but I've never seen a truly flexible resin that was cheap. Siraya ABS-like is my go to for base resin, but I can't find it anywhere ATM.

Jacob Hale

If nothing failed, go for it. If something failed, there's a solid chance there is cured resin somewhere in the vat, thus cleaning time.

Phez Darryn Stanmore
2020-03-27 05:19:09

As long as nothing has failed, I keep going, but I also don't let the vat sit with resin in it for more than a day with out being used, otherwise I clean it out.

Richard Shapiro
2020-03-27 05:47:54

I take a quick swish of the resin, to make sure there's nothing hard in there to crack the glass, then hit print.

So the shapes don’t show up during the exposure test.

I was going to try to update the firmware before I open it.

Any ideas?

Tim Borschel
2020-03-27 05:21:07

Josh Mcavoy try printing the files, you dont need resin or anything, you're suppose to do one before the other but I dont remember which order. One you do that then turn it off and pull the USB out then turn it back on should be good

Josh Mcavoy

Oksana Shevchenko yeah the Hero resin is translucent so i print and clear coat only. been using elegoo grey for paint-able models. still looking for that perfect resin for that..

Aaron Strome I've basically thrown the gray I was using at first away. I don't think I'll really print models with anything but ToAuto anymore. Maybe if I can come up with a mix to make them more durable... But for now, I found my perfect resin. Just with they had clear. I'd go crazy with colors

Thank you for sharing your settings I'll learn from that.

Pedro Torres these settings are specific to the resin I'm using. You will get failed prints with other resins

Really neat how you got the translucency of the wings. Maybe it's a trait of the resin? Are they brittle at all?

Oksana Shevchenko

Ryan Tudor I'm not willing to risk finding out. Lol

Pre post cure they are not brittle. I sprayed with clear coat afterwards

Ryan Tudor Hero resin is easily bendable if you're looking for that and is translucent.

I really hate to ask this but I’m old and decrepit and apparently my brain is shot.

So I’m begging for a bit of assistance.

I’m running an original photon ver 4.2.12

First bit of begging- updating the firmware
I can find the firmware, or pretty sure I’ve located it.

What are the precise file names I need, and hopefully the precise order to update my firmware to 4.2.18. Please assume I’m a total moron and need to be lead by the hand. Assume I’m Jon Snow and I know nothing.

Second begging - getting and using the exposure file (more than one??)

I think i want to use the flat one rather than the little buildings.
What are the steps for using it? The files(s) I require. I’ve seen references to, if I find a good exposure number I need to double it? And a reset file??

Again I need to be lead by the nose and the reference to Jon Snow stands.

All assistance to my abject begging will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

At least I know how to pin the replies for later reference.

Fyi i did search but my results were indeterminate.

Been a while, but I'm pretty sure I just followed the instructions on the Photonsters site. I upgraded to 4.2.18

Regarding exposure range finder files, the 'flat' one with 10 columns will work on your Photon original model. There are different version for different layer heights and one for slow resins. Most likely you will want to use the 0.05mm / 2-20 seconds v ersion

You get three files. First you 'print' one file to put the printer in a special mode. Then you print the range finder. Finally you 'print' the third file to restore the printer to normal (don't forget this one!). The whole process takes a few minutes.

The columns are exposed progressively more from left to right, with the left column getting only 2 seconds of UV and the right column getting 20 seconds.

You will want to cure the print while it is still on the plate, and take a photo at a good angle to show the detail as well as possible, then people here will be able to help you interpret it. Generally you are looking for the first column that gives a good balance of positive space (small details showing) and negative space (holes are not filled up with cured resin). As you go further to the right, more positive detail will show, but at some point the negative space detail will degrade. Further to the right also means longer print times, so typically you are looking for the leftmost column that gives reasonable detail without the negative spaces getting worse. Multiply the column number by 2 to get the exposure time

The 'small town' is probably the one from Ameralabs. This is just a normal .STL that you can print, with a bunch of details to help identify under/over exposure . I did a series of prints at different exposure times to compare with each other so I could dial in my exposure time more accurately.

The newer Photon models allow for a different kind of range finder test where you choose a model and print 8 copies at different exposure levels, but I have no experience of this one

Whatever you do, remember that there will be a range of expo sure times that will 'work' and that you will likely not see ALL the details included in the files: they go down to sizes that are virtually unprintable on the Photon.
