Agreed. Every time I try searching for something, it just loads the most popular things and they have nothing to do with what I'm looking for. That's also asumming it even loads at all.

You can use https://www.yeggi.com/ to search for a print, and then click through to get to the actual print page on Thingiverse. It at least makes up for the terrible search, and you may find some stuff you like on other sites too

Bert Harvey that would slow it down, but they also changed the site design two days ago, and for some reason the search algorithms got changed too and barely function at pulling up even slightly relevant results.
Today is better than yesterday though.

A company like startasys and this is all they can do with Thingiverse.
Not to mention they are loading it with ads now.

my assumption is its a combination of new site roll-out (often buggy at first even at the best of times) being hit with massive increase in traffic and download volume. I'm guessing there are a couple network admins over at thingiverse literally scrambling to stay atop of a roaring dumpster fire, screaming "I told you so!" at whichever business manager pushed for this rollout right now

thingiverse doesn't suck. the whining freeloading people that can't even let a company that made thingiverse update their FREE system for people to get FREE files. if i owned thingiverse i would shut it down on all of you as you all deserve it. go buy a model or learn how to make them. oh here is an idea start a thingiverse of your own and find out how you would feel if you just read all this. WOW people be kinder to others............

Joseph Soneji I believe now that he is stuck at home he has all the time in the world to print, but no access to files he wants to print? my guess at least. Kind of like the twilight zone episode with the last guy one earth having all the time to read, but breaks his glasses.

Wikipedia is free and works. just does donation drives. i'd give them a few bucks. we can complain until they offer a solution. Also facebook is far from free, your data is your payment. they sell that and have targeted adds to generate revenue.

i tried in 1/144 but you need to support it differently and it barely fits on the plate haha

i'm having trouble with it in chrome not loading more as you scroll. switched to ie... still slow but at least it loads more things.

Lex Cole not going to happen, like any platform or medium, artists need to patrol themselves and request takedowns. Thingiverse, being a free service, does not have the time or resources to verify every item offered is not stolen. This is how it is for all artists, it is part of the new internet business.

Also, it's hard to see if you've liked a model now as the heart icon is just a thin outline in black or red. Pretty bad UI design.

They need to get rid of the infinity scroll. My work got rid of theirs after seeing how much data it uses.

Yikes. I'm scared to even log on. I didn't think that UI could get worse, or that the site could be even slower.

Not happy with the infinity scroll and the fact that items I have in a collection do not appear to indicate that in the main feed or individual pages. But its free so I can live with it for now.

^ the collection thing is so annoying! Just added something to a collection twice because (1) it's running slow (2) it apparently allows adding the same thing twice and (3) there's nothing that indicated I already collected it. Definitely a more modern ui, needs more time to cook

Craft stores sell various woodworking pieces that would look good as a base. Take a clear pen apart and use that as a translucent stand. Or you could try using some wire to suspend it.

If you wanna cheap, use the cap from a milk bottle

Gregory Akin like I was saying, let that be their hurdle. Buying a decorative piece of wood isn't why they enlisted you, and it's def not worth your time to go out of pocket to make them happy. Give them a milk bottle cap, or maybe print a base so you can add too your resin charge

Print some hollow 3d printed custom stand and fill with some plasta

Why not just get a big round or square silicon mold from ebay and pour some resin in and then just uv cure
