Is the lines on this print Z wobble?

No

Carl White
2020-03-21 06:34:49

John Rudisill any suggestions please?

Joe Kirkus
2020-03-21 06:41:23

Carl White those are layer lines. You can try orientation change and printing at a lower layer level.

Carl White
2020-03-21 06:42:09

Joe Kirkus it’s only just started doing it and it started halfway up a print

Carl White
2020-03-21 06:42:34

Even doing it on file that have been fine previously

Joe Kirkus
2020-03-21 07:11:03

Carl White then I don’t know. Sorry buddy!

Carl White
2020-03-21 17:47:52

I have just printed another file and the print is stepping left to right as you look at the printer

Carl White
2020-03-23 17:00:18

Problem solved.

I tightened all the screws thatnhold the Z rail to the printer and also tightened the FEP by 1/2 on each screw

So I need some help! I’ve tried printing this about 5 times now. Always the same thing.

I printed with Anycubic green, it failed, I went in re levelled and set home, checked the supports and printed again.. fail.

Re levelled, erased my USB key, resliced and even ran it through the file validatior. It said that unsupported islands found in layer 60 and 279 ( no idea what that even means or how to fix ) I saved and tried the print again. Fail

Need some help please what can I do.

I’m trying to print a set of Recaro 1/24 seats I had designed.

What am I doing wrong?

Matthew Fry

Honestly I just had the same problem. Don't know if it would work for you but all I did was beef up the supports.

Frank Padula
2020-03-21 06:31:58

Rok Petrič what’s that bro?

Frank Padula
2020-03-21 06:32:26

Matthew Fry I was thinking about that.. I even hollowed before slicing

Rok Petrič

normal exposure 12 exposure off 8s

Frank Padula
2020-03-21 06:37:20

Rok Petrič gonna try it

Frank Padula
2020-03-21 06:38:14

Rok Petrič that could be the fail problem?

Rok Petrič
2020-03-21 06:39:17

could be

Adam Scaramella

So I was using Elegoo Grey and was able to print with tiny contact diameters on the supports. This was based on a video explaining supports...it worked for him and worked for me at first.

I swapped to AnyCubic Green and had similar problems. My contact diameters are now both .22 for my heavy supports, and only slightly lower for the light ones. My printing got immediately better.

Fred Bey
2020-03-21 07:39:05

Exposure is probably too low.

Frank Padula
2020-03-21 11:06:23

Adam Scaramella yeah. I think that’s what the problem is here. Because the supports are intact looks like they just fell off

Brklyn Brklyn
2020-03-21 11:13:17

You need to tilt the seats 20 deg. I like to use a good amount of heavy supports and pin all the details with the smaller ones.

How big are you layers? Thicker lays need more cure time. I use .03 @ 9sec for the green.

Kasper Boysen
2020-03-21 17:18:10

F Frank Padula could you please let me know if you figure out what the problem was?

Frank Padula

Kasper Boysen I’m going to reprint soon.. I will post hopefully the success pictures lol

Hi, i have had a Photon-S since the 13th of march. It printed the test file perfectly. Then i tried two models i bougth some time ago but this is what happened: This should be the 2nd layer, i tried uptating the firmware and changing the format (photon,Photons) and also the usb but no difference. The first failed print i left it on for more time in order to see what would happen. Anyone has any ideas?

How did you figure out your settings? What slicer are you using?

Riccardo Nadalini
2020-03-21 16:13:11

Shaun Reno i use Prusa and then Chitubox and the settings are the base ones for the green resin. I haven't changed anything a part from curing resin settings

sorry for spamming today but does anyone know why chitubox crashes when placing a manual support?

翻譯年糕

Danny Gonzalez
2020-03-21 06:04:25

Usually it happens when I’m placing a support on a model that isn’t the currently selected model. The combined process of selecting another model and then adding the support will sometimes crash it. So I always go to the object mode and then select the next model prior to adding a support to it. Also usually only on models that have no supports on them yet, that’s been my experience

Sascha Berlin
2020-03-21 06:10:23

yeah thats it. Never payed attention to that. Thanks!

Frame shearing! or slicing error due to dodgy STL with inverted normals.

Felix Flauta Jr.
2020-03-21 06:39:11

Simon Wilson probably not dodgy stl as I've printed some of these and netfabbed.

Fix for frame shearing is the firmware?

Simon Wilson
2020-03-21 06:40:34

Yes, if you have a version below 4.18 I think you will most likely have it happen at some point, versions 18 and 19 are free of the issue.

The Shoulder for my Space Wolves came out verry pretty so i found.
Printed at 0,02mm.

Shaun Reno

Cool. I was just going to say that GW won’t let you play with 3D printed parts. It’s fine if you just play with friends and people who aren’t dicks.

Thrall Hood

Thrall Hood i dont know ??‍♂️
I printed at 0,02mm per Layer and you cant see a different between the Original and the printed one.

Chris Beaumont
2020-03-21 09:26:24

If you've designed the file itself, it's no different that moulding with greenstuff, plasticard or an other medium, as it's all your own artistry.

Shaun Reno
2020-03-21 09:31:34

Thrall Hood I don’t know. I think it’s stupid but I guess if you’re already a money hungry companies and people find a way to give you less money you’ll get all pissy.

Charles Lease
2020-03-21 10:34:12

GW accidently swung a bit far towards "cool company" over the last couple years. time to get pissy about 3d printed shoulder pads....

Michael Supraholic
2020-03-21 16:50:16

Charles Lease i think they have other problems as a 3D printed shoulder ?

Peter Chapman
2020-03-21 17:35:57

You dont need that many, I printed mine flat to the face with about 5 supports around the rim of the pad. Although I cant find my pictures now.

Sjacco Antonius
2020-03-21 17:41:29

Several official tournements I went to allowed it as part of customisation as long as most of it was still a gw model, and if you could easily see what it was. It's just part of customisation.

Paul Dodd
2020-03-21 20:35:05

Sjacco Antonius bwahahaha most my armies 3D printed, you can’t tell

Chris Beaumont
2020-03-22 01:22:16

Paul Dodd you the real mvp, my next force that's about to arrive requires about 50% printed parts and I'm excited to pass it off.

Paul Dodd
2020-03-22 02:08:09

Chris Beaumont nothing better too if you are a modder, find a file and save that thing to your hard drive before it gets ripped down, I still buy GW stuff, I have the new box set coming

Chris Beaumont
2020-03-22 02:37:42

Paul I design my own stuff so not too fussed in that regard, it does dishearten me though when oop or unique designs GW doesn't even produce get either taken down, or dropped in fear of having their whole library taken down.

Just an FYI, but you can pause the print, and if you wait about 15 to 20 seconds, the build plate will raise up and you can see if it's falling. Very handy if you want to see if anything has started to print correctly an hour into an 8 hour print

Angus Davidson
2020-03-21 05:52:37

Vivion Grisewood absolutely - I do that quite a bit...annoyingly this one started off ok - I then checked about 2hrs in, and stopped ? - but good tip ?

Quite pleased with this one. My photon is a great little machine. But, I did notice some FDM like z-banding(?) near the lower socket. It's not as visible on the opposite side. Any insight as to what may have caused it? Aside from that and likely some amateur placed supports, it turned out fantastic.

Did you hollow the model?

Derek Fontes
2020-03-21 05:44:14

I did not, I haven't tried to hollow a model yet.

Fahrid van Uitert
2020-03-21 05:45:06

Derek Fontes there’s your answer probably. Printing solid models will occasionally result in lines or shifts in your print

So I can’t get my printer to print properly, I have checked the lcd screen, I have re oriented the prints, I have re leveled the build plate, and nothing seems to work, I am using elegoo grey with 6 bottom layers at 80 seconds and 5 seconds at .02 after that, same settings I’ve always used and have worked well, all I keep getting are bits of cured resin on the screen as if I had poor bed adhesion but as I said I’ve re leveled idk how many times with the same results over different prints

Try releveling closer to the screen then you think it should be.

Tom Howley
2020-03-21 04:36:10

I am using the same resin and am having success with 10 layers at 90 seconds

Chris Christiansen
2020-03-21 04:45:40

Tom Howley I’ll have to try that instead

Chris Christiansen
2020-03-21 04:46:31

Robert Jeppesen I’ve been trying closer each time but I’m always worried about messing up the screen, usually just do the paper test. I’ll try going closer though for my next print.

James Richmond
2020-03-21 04:49:03

i've heard that if your resin is too cold, it'll be difficult to get the resin to stick to the plate, try heating the plate before printing

Chris Christiansen
2020-03-21 04:55:01

like the build plate? With a lighter or something? I know that’s the case with filament I hadn’t heard that with resin, may be worth a shot ?

James Richmond
2020-03-21 04:55:17

the plate... hair dryer

Chris Christiansen
2020-03-21 04:57:07

Right I just had never heard that before as far as resin goes, I’ll try it though.

Chris Christiansen
2020-03-21 05:07:07

James Richmond nice thanks for the link, my resin and plate should be in those perimeters already but I’m going to heat them a bit nonetheless to see what changes!
